His Birthday is tomorrow. I'll be celebrating by working on the FB's, of course.
I found the animal rights info, and I'm guessing 'opposition to the use of animals in testing' converts to 'smoked lots of pot'

Yes, that is correct Brett, that was part of the liberal agenda back in the early '80's.

'Course Uncle Wankel didn't really do pot or anything else illegal, I was just making a little joke.

I suppose I should learn how to use those little e-motorcons for the laughter impaired.

Funny it was Gene, only an old hippie would realize that pot and Wankel's were made for each other.

Looks like Audi is finally catching on, with a single pot Wankel rolling out in '13:

Happy Birthday tomorrow Ray. BTW that calendar is off a day. It looks like your birthday is on a Monday... today, but today is not the 16th.

Thanks for the birthday greetings guys!

Back when Uncle Wankel was alive, in the early-mid '80's, he'd always come over in one of his new FB's around this time of year (different one every year) and we'd go out and celebrate our birthdays together. Of course I was a poor graduate student and he owned the FB, so he always got all the chicks and, it being a two seater, I'd have to find alternative transportation home. But he was a great guy to go drinking with.

I remember in '85 he had this new plan for a hydrogen powered turbo rotary, which he called the "Renaissance" which was built on the 12A platform but used 4 rotors, three to provide combustion power and the fourth modified to his special design for a fusion reactor, to generate the hydrogen. To fill it up you just stuck a garden hose in the tank.

But back then Regan was president and Detroit and the Texas Oil Barrens ruled the car industry so they forced Mazda to build the FC instead.

No, it's all true Tim.

Fusion was all but solved when Carter was president but the prospect of making all that Texas oil worthless freaked out the business establishment, which threw it's weight and money behind Reagan and Big Oil.

"Alternative energy" has been a bad word ever since, along with "hippie", "peace" and "education".

It was a different world back then, full of optimism and possibility (not to mention all those brand new FB's gracing the highways).

Even Reagan had his own warped view of what technology could do, which he called "Star Wars". Fundamentally unsound science, but hey, he was a movie actor, not a nuclear scientist like Carter was.

Check out the articles in this Popular Science magazine from 1984, you'll see what I mean.

http://books.google.com/books?id=AQR...eactor&f=false

And this article on "protectionism" that discusses the ongoing suppression of Wankel technology:

http://www.broandrew.com/suppression.html

YouTube on History of the Wankel:

And the research goes on, here's the MYT engine:

Maintenance day on the 7:

I have seen some tranny lube on the garage floor over the last several months, so I thought about jacking up the side of the car, putting some lube in and calling it good.
I have had a chatter in the back of the car while starting on a corner. Either the LSD or the rear u-joint. I had a little bit of the LSD lube left over from my son's truck, so I was going to add some of it.
I started thinking and said F'it. I put the car on jack stands, went to the Zone and bought 4 quarts of Mobile 1 lube and some LSD lube. Came home and made a mess changing the lube in the tranny and diff.
While waiting for the lube to drain, I looked in my book and saw it had been an alarmingly long time (not mileage) since I changed the engine oil. So that was next. Castrol just for Ray.
While waiting for that to drain, I started thinking that I could not remember when I had changed any of the coolant. So I drained and flushed the radiator and filled it with new 50/50 coolant.
Rotated the tires while I had it up in the air.
A brief test drive showed the chatter gone, if not significantly reduce.
Hope things run smooth for years to come.
I do need to replace the car, rotor and plugs though.

That would be 59 Tim. And yes, Carter was a much better president than Ray Gun.

So when's the last time you lubed your rear end? Like our Fearless Leader Greg the Younger just did?

Get your *** our under that car and get some lube on your face Tim, the SA needs a little attention.

Gene, me and the goats have an understanding about beer, especially on these hot summer days. We celebrated the day properly.

Hey guys and gals. First happy Bday Ray!! I know that I have not posted in awhile but I have been really swamped with work. I do pop in from time to time and check on yall! I see some rotaries here in Charlotte from time to time.

I wanted to ask for everyones prayers for my 10 month old niece Khloe. Last week she swallowed a small ball. She was not breathing for a little over 5 min. She was life lifted to egleston children's hospital. She went straight to ICU. After the first day there she was doing great and they moved her to a regular room. That night it all turned around and she got really bad. She went back into ICU and remains there. She was diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Its a very serious severe brain injury. She does have seizures but they are controlled by meds. Her sodium level has been doing good to keep the swelling of the brain down. Over the last few days she has actually been doing good and coming around. You always hear about freak accidents and never think it would happen in your family. When I got the news I was lost for words. All thoughs and prayers will be appreciated! Thanks OGTA!

Ray, what kind of websites are you going to these days? When I clicked on one of the links you sent it was blocked as a security risk by CDC. I expect that a couple of agents will show up this afternoon to talk to me.

Be a good American Ray and stick with beer and goats. These commie websites are going to get us all in trouble.
