From talking to Toby today, they no longer do any runs in the afternoon that are not Pro or Novice. Time Only no longer exists. There is an afternoon registration/tech, but I think that's only for Novice. There is also an afternoon Test and Tune, but I believe you have to run in a class in the morning to do that. But I'm not a great resource for this stuff. Toby said he was going to check with head of registration for ya. He thinks something got messed up. Give me a call.
I'll probably get there at about 8 or so. Registration/tech opens at like 7:30 I think, closes at 8:30. I don't have to do tech, so if you are going through that process, I'd suggest a little more time than that.

Ok, we got clarification from registration. There is a TO group limited to 10 people still. It runs in the MORNING. So refer to the above times for registration/tech.

Crit, you're getting there to make tech. You wanna help me setup the canopy? It takes two people. You can drop all your excess stuff there, of course, that's kind of the purpose. I'm bringing the cooler and I'll pick up some ice and some coke. Who else is planning on getting there in the AM?

So as of right now I'm not sure when I'm showing up at the autocross. On one hand, I'd like to be there to support Crit and whoever else from the club is running a morning thing. On the other hand, I'd have to wake up at 5am...get out of here by 6am to get there roughly by 7am. Then set up the canopy so we'd have some shade. dump whatever I brought for my car there and walk around...talk to people...watch runs and maybe work...and then I'd have to do my class in the afternoon. By that time I might be tired or something.
Eh...I'm not sure. Someone chime in and help me brainstorm, Sunday is approaching quick!

I'm caravanning with Crit to Turner Field. I've got my car all ready other than needing a quick wash.
I am bringing:
Canopy
Small folding table
Bag of tools
Floor jack
Home-brew glass cleaner (Water, white vinegar. The best.)
Microfiber towels
Wax
Possibly blue tape for numbers if I can find it.
Coke
Water
I guess when we get there we're going to dump the stuff and go through tech. Then we can set up our little hut.

OK .. I got a couple of chairs, some ice, and snacks. What time you guys meeting to get down there?
Collin, you, me and Crit can meet at the Suwanee exit off of I-85. That way Crit can come down I-985 to meet up with us, or just come across Lawrenceville/Suwanee Rd. to meet us.

Ok Collin and Crit I guess I'm not meeting up with you guys in the morning because I don't know what time/place to meet you. I thought you were going to post here, after you made your decision. I guess I will sleep in and be down some time mid-morning. See you then.

That was amazing.
My times:
58.185
55.931
55.681
54.867
54.800
57.601
The instructor that rode with me was very impressed. He said I'm one of the few Novice drivers he has ridden with that was that aggressive, but smooth and intuitive. That made me feel kinda good. Then before I did my next lap, he and I were talking about where I had messed up. Most of it I knew were just my mistakes, such as not quite settling the car in time for turn-in. The other things were tips that opposed those of the Chief Instructor which really made the course a lot more linear.
On my last lap, I know, it's bad! -- It would've been 51.601 had I not clipped three cones. The first one was on the slalom. Second to last cone... The other two were when I was mid corner in the emergency lane change. I guess I went to brace myself for the G-force and hit the throttle or something. I went into a slide, and held it, but it took out two cones.
All in all, it was a complete blast. I thank Crit and Holly for their patience waiting all that time for my turn, and their support. Also, Crit and Dena for letting me stay over and feeding my dinner, breakfast and lunch!
Ray, admit it, my brakes are just plain big.
Edit**** I just looked at the Run#'s on my slips. I have corrected my times.

GREAT JOB Colllin!! You did look pretty smooth out there. And I thought it was cool that you pushed it in the last run and broke loose and spun. I know it added 6 seconds to your time, but you needed to do that.

Nice going Collin. Crit, where's your scores?
If you guys are looking for a track car, here's one in Dacula:

I didn't have the best day. I was really searching for rear grip most of the time. Got it better, but was still a little tenative on some things I should not have been. I should have easily taken 2nd in class. Oh well. I'll probably put videos up later, but my camera batteries died for the decent run.
People have posted pictures. Pretty sure this would be Collin:

Wow, it surprises me that most of the people who signed up for Novice didn't actually show. I'm also interested to see what the times of the people who did show up were. I think that Impreza by default walked all over me, even if he drove like *** just simply because of the straight line 'Oomph'.
Holly, Crit, how much was my car smoking on decel? :-P
I was so worn out when I got home...I went to bed around 8:30 and woke up at 9am!
I'm still buzzing so much...I just wanna do it again!

Yeah, the starter laughed at me twice while I was staging at the line. I can't explain why, but Collin beat my times hands-down. Still slower than prepped Tim, but stock-for-stock, the FC trounced the FB. I want to say that it was driver error and that the FB absolutely rules, but I sure was trying to go fast. ATL Region SCCA is down right now, but I'll post my embarrasingly slow times later.
Dammit.
Dammit.

You guys looked good out there. That is way too funny with Crit's head sticking out of the car. The pic is funnier than it was in person. Crit, Collin probably beat your time because of the aerodynamics on the top of your car... too much air hitting the helmet and flowing in the cabin, slowing you down. You will have to correct that with a race seat. That will get you lower. Don't tell Dena I said that.
Collin I didn't notice any smoke on decel, especially after that 240 that was really smoking. I think he might need a rebuild.

Nah Crit, it's quite simple. Conditions were much better during the novice run times than they were during your run group. They were drier, a little more heat in the asphault (but not too much). Just overall a better time to run. Use that excuse, you can make it sound like you know what you are talking about even.
