As all conservatives, I am all about compromise and accomodation. That plus the fact Mazda is the margue sponsor, we have to go to Mitty this year. Pack your ear plugs. When those 3 rotars start screaming, they will hear the Mittly in Lawrenceville.

The camping gear is all ready, Ray. You just need to bring a cooler of Yuengling.

Sounds good Mike.

Do you suppose we should organize a joint OGTA-Mitty-ZoomFest gathering?

You know, stake out a corner of the field, put up a movie screen and jump motor scooters, just like the good old days?

besides the heat and just not seeing it when u open the hood, what advantages is there to putting the turbo at the rear of the car?

I would think the main reason would be the heat, Lower Intake Air Temps means more HP, More room under the hood and a rear mount gives off a different sound.

Its a cool idea

^^^ Mr. Machado got to you guys before I Could.... Yes that is a pic of my FB in that selection of photos.... I kept her, and installed my Fuel Pressure Regulator. Decided I wasnt quite ready to sell. So I started some minor Trim Paint work, and eventually I'm going to do a full body restoration and new paint.

But I got her Dyno'd to day..................... >______<

A Holly Red fuel pump, Holly Fuel Pressure Regulator, Weber 45 Side draft carb, RB headers, 2.5in straight piping and a Flow master muffler....... and i only made 75 WHP.... FMFLLL!
Anyone know how to tune a weber correctly?!

Nice move Carleton, I knew I'd seen that SE before. Don't let those dyno tests bother you, they're all rigged. I'm sure that red buggy is good for the stock 110 hp at least. They just gotta get their computer fixed.

Good for you, keeping the car. You just might be an Old Guy after all.

I got that gas filler door and latch, if you need it.

LOL yeah Ray I'm deff an old guy. I was in the process of selling her, a kid came over, test drove it, and wanted it. but was still trying to find the money. And i told him in the meantime id install the FPR so it'd be a step further when he had the cash... I started driving it around after the install, and on the 2nd day i got pulled over for aggressive driving/ weaving through traffic.......A motorcycle officer was watching me weave for a good mile and some change, hahahahahah............ And I said.... damn I have to keep this car i enjoy it to much.

Lucky-ly he didnt give em a ticket lol.

A dyno sounds fun. Glad you decided to keep the SE Carlton.

I ended up picking up the 'vert today. It's in much worse shape than I remembered, seems like the driveshaft/ transmission is trying to die on me. And there is a lot of new body damage... Happly, I should be able to get everything that needs replacing from the old FC, besides a trunk lid, and all should be well. Maybe a door, too...

Collin, glad you made it back. I've got the whole week off after Christmas, so you should stop by.

Michael, you will be just fine in your 7. Don't pay any attention to those dyno numbers. Like Ray said, its just that the computers have not evolved enough yet to appreciate the true power of a first gen.

So my driver's side window is still stuck down, making for some chilly drives. Using the switch causes the voltage gauge to drop, which would lead me to think that the fuse and switch are fine, and it is either bound up or the motor is shot. Is there anything else I should look at first, or should I start ripping the door apart?

Start ripping. If it were the brushes, you wouldn't have the voltage drop. It's in the linkage.

I put the window down to the Dakota today, only to be greeted with an explosion in the door, and the window motor ran the frame to the bottom. The window, however, stayed put. Dammit.

Tim, I'm torn about the Mitty and DGRR. I may have to skip DGRR for the first time this year.

Technical Questions

I have read about 100 pages on lung butter/mustard and I have a couple of questions.

The vacuum from the oil fill tube just did not seem to be working sufficiently to alleviate the problem and I did not not have time to play with it. So I removed the rats nest (I wanted to try this anyway) and plumbed the vacuum lines I needed. I capped off all the nipples (both sides of the carb) except the front 2 on the intake spacer (driver side). I used the front most nipple for the vacuum advance with a T to leading and trailing advance diaphrams on the distributor. The second nipple from the front I plumbed to the nipple on the oil filler tube. The nipple on the iron is plumbed to the charcoal canister. The car is running fine (no worse anyway). Here are my questions.

1) Is there any reason I should not use the front 2 nipples for vacuum the way I have them plumbed?

2) What is the purpose of the nipple on the iron that is plumbed to the charcoal canister? Is it to vent fumes out through the canister or is it to provide fresh air into the oil system?

Mike you'll be putting a Del Horto on there soon I bet.

Ray when you removing the rats nest? Its just a a matter of time.

Can't speak to the 2 vacuum nipples on teh nikki, haven't had one for 20 years now.

I have the vent line from the gas tank going into the nipple on the iron
and a vacuum line with a PCV valve inline going to the nipple on the
oil fill tube. Keeps the mustard at bay for me. I've thought about
getting a charcoal canister and plumbing it in but not yet!
