Sorry to agree Collin but plain and simple is that he's right. Crown vics are nearly polar opposites to Rx-7s. That being said I bet it rides really nice.

It could be a boinger meet. I could jack Tara's Accord, Ray could drive the Jeep/ Protege, Crit could drive the Pilot, Billy in the truck, Tim in the Lotus, Ben and his bad *** scooter, Jeremy in the Sti, and you in the Miata. lol

Those are the only boingers I know that people have... oh well.

So, what, simply because I no longer own a rotary at the moment, I'm shunned? Funny, Chris has a Miata that clearly isn't rotary powered and it's all good. I see how it is...

Sorry, but the shitty little FC Wanda was starting to become was simply too expensive and too much of a hassle to keep going, and it only would have gotten worse. There is plenty of time for me to own another rotary, but it won't be any time soon. I like getting in my car and being able to navigate poorly maintained roads with ease and comfort, and having enough torque to rocket wherever I need to go... while still getting roughly the same gas mileage, and having plenty of parts available locally to me.

Done.

Hey, does anyone in the OGTA want to trade their 12A front cover for a GSL-SE front cover? I'm getting a little heavy on the SE hardware, and need a 12A cover for the REPU drivetrain.

Collin, we didn't line up to see Chris's Miata.

If YOU make it down at Christmas time, we will line up to see you, though, not the Crown Vic.

I don't know if the front cover Mark had on the block in my old FC was off of a FB 12A or 13B, but there's a chance that he might have the one you're looking for. I really don't even know if a 12A front cover will work on a 13B, I'm still a newbie in that area... But yeah, Mark told me that he had a nice stash in his basement

Collin, you know we're just giving you ****. But your Crown Vic is like a Maxipad in a way. It's nice to have something reliable an semi quick, but everyone and their mother has one! It makes my day when someone actually takes a second look at my car or some little kid stops and asks me something about it. And when you get to talking rotaries with someone who doesn't know much about them, it's always an interesting conversation... It would be pretty cool to screw with people and make them think you're copper, though .

Way to take it way out of proportion. "Nearly polar oposites" doesn't mean "The Ford has pistons so it's out." I mean you bought a 4 door sedan that weighs a ton and the club centers around nimble light weight sports cars. Crit's REPU has the rarity thing going along with still being rotary powered, and other than that pretty much every other regularly attending member has a light sports car. To take us not feeling too excited to see a fairly bland looking very common car as shunning you is ridiculous. It'd be like me picking up a corolla and saying "Oh man you get the privilege of seeing it."(which sounds pretty cocky and is a put off in itself) When you and I both know you wouldn't give a damn(other than being happy for me having a new car as a friend, which I am for you having that car). I'm actually surprised you don't understand the lack of excitement really. I mean anyone can go to a police station and see 30-40 crown vics at any time. Unless yours is somehow vastly different than your average one what's to get worked up about?

You know we all love you Collin, even though you do own that snowbank surfing behemoth of a Crown Vic. You mentioned some pics once you got it cleaned up?

Anybody joining Ben and me for lunch today at the Hunan?

Hmmm, spoken like a *real* rotary lover. I'm sorry, who is shunning what again here?

I appreciate it, Kent. If it's got an OMP on it to boot, I'll be happy to trade you for an SE cover with SE OMP. If I can find one easily and locally, I'd prefer that, but may very well take you up on your offer.

GUYYYYYYYSSSS! my car is acting super weird.

so, like, my car will crank up on a freshly charged battery, and run normal. i drive it around, turn her off, come back an hour later and the battery is dead and wont crank, wont turn over. so I switch to a fresh battery and she cranks right up. that battery will run fine for a day or two

come out the in the morning, go to crank and dead battery, wont crank wont turn over. leave her alone over night dont change a thing, come back the next afternoon and she cranks right up. let her idle for a minute, turn her off and go do other things. I come back 3 hrs later, go to crank her, and she wont crank, wont turn over, dead battery.

so I slapp the gas pedal while holding the key in a fit of frustration and she cranks right up and idles..... WTF IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR?!!!!!

please help me.

please?!

PLEASE?! lol

Sounds to me a starter issue not a battery issue,. You said you come out one morning and it will not start; you assume dead batter, then leave it along till the next day and it cranks. A dead battery can not juice itself back up.

If that is not the case and If it really is draining a battery over night then remove the plug on the back of the alternator at night and see if the issue goes away.

Hey guys just wanted to check in. The little yellow SA is coming right along. I can make it around the block with out it dying after the carter pump and fule reg. I think i have so much trash in the tank the picup is clogging. Timing is closer. I may be able to limp it out for Novembers meet. By the way I have corrected the over spray on the tank...

No, a starter that is plugged in wrong would never work, not only work sometimes.(unless the nut on the grounded wire is loose and it's not making full contact)

I'm going to say it's the fusable links. My middle one (the black one) was gonig bad and my car did the exact same thing. I had to pop the hood, wiggle it, and try again and she would start right up. I eventually converted to these:

You need 3. 2 Pink 30A ones and one Yellow 60A one.

You replace the factory brown black brown with pink yellow pink

I'm fairly confident this likely your problem and if not, it's only a $12 modification (for all 3) and it's good insurance on the electrical system to remove the current ones and keep them in your glove box should one of these ever blow (and you can see if it blows through the sight window on top).

If this doesn't work I suggest checking ground wires and battery terminals for corrosion. If not that, the next place I would move is the ignition switch itself.

Fusable links are located in one of two positions based on the year of the car and what your PO did when they took out the SE engine. The two locations are marked in red on the photo below (the car in this photo has the fusable links in the red box on the left) P.S. Shoutout to Andy cause this is a pic of his engine bay. If you can't tell, both are on the driver's side strut tower

Also, the stock fusable links look like this:

(it's the row of wires in the middle under the bag that reads "harness"

THANKS! yeah ive played around with the fuseable links before, one blew on me before work one day and i had to replace it with some 14 gage electrical wire. so i wouldnt be surprised if its coming loose, but to be safe ill deff buy those plastic things and replace it all anyway.

my dad thinks its the starter, like the grounds or something, gerlado thinks my carb is running too rich, I'm lost as ****, i do know my car was running rich before but it never created a problem.

so i guess i shall try all the above and see what works. anyone know how to re tune a weber?

Remove the four nuts at the base plate and replace with a Nikki?

Double your gas mileage and half your troubles. Might even save a ticket or two.

Its very probable that the small trigger wire that connects via a spade terminal to
the starter is loose or falling off. It probably wasn't put back securely after the
clutch job. You may need to crimp it to make it hold on tight. I had this same is issue
a long time ago. Took me a few days to finally figure it out.

Sorry I missed this lunch. And, I think I have a clutch hose, Ben, if something happens with the one Ray has.

I went hiking on the Appalachian Trail over the weekend. It was great and I just weaned myself of the Tylenol.

This sounds like an electrical problem. Like Billy said it doesn't sound like a short because a dead battery doesn't recharge itself.

Start with the simple (free) stuff. Check the battery connections. Check the starter connections. Check the ground cable. Check the postitive cable going down to the starter. All of this stuff is 25 years old and could need to be replaced. There are good write ups on replacing the battery cables online and it is an inexpensive fix.

I have corrected no-start problems before by simply addressing corrosion in the connections between the battery and the starter.
