Old guys with 12As club meeting
So this is gonna make you old guys happy. I've got a guy really interested in the FB, and he emailed me a while back and wrote:
I'm so excited to become a new rx7 owner, I can't wait! .... it feels like the days are passing so slowly, plus there are only so many friends to explain the genius of the wankel rotary engine to
-roland
Sweet sounds good! I'll definitely try to make it out to the meet!
Oh and Roland that was my RX and I work at that bank, thanks for giving me a heads up to the forum. I don't know if we've met there but I'm one of the personal bankers there.

Worth mentioning, that kid Cory (I think?) and I both go to Gainesville and as a joke, I stuck an OGTA card under his wiper on his FB... At least I hope that was his FB... 'Cuz if not, then wow...someone is slow to check out the thread. lol

All, thanks for your thoughts. Michelle was discharged yesterday. The surgery went well. She will need to have chemo. It is nice to have her back home.
The general population is making me want to cry lately. This is in response to an article about lowering the speed limit to 55 to save gas:
The math used showing fuel savings is incorrect. Although the mpg increases at 55 mph, the writer fails to take into account the extra time needed to complete the commute. Once you add in the extra driving time, the total amount of fuel used is about the same whether 75 mph or 55 mph. This is a good example of how the liberal media uses biased information to try and sway the public into agreeing with them and to put pressure on politicians to change the law. Most Congress persons probably can't figure mpg or mph to check the article for accuracy.
Uh, wow.

Lol, lowering an upper limit will save everyone gas? Lol, if people WANT to save gas, they'll drive slower, they won't be saying thank you if you save them any gas by FORCING them to do something they could have done before at their own will. Lowering the lower limit makes sense, if it was above 55, but the upper limit? Retarded.
Well, the biggest issue is that is not a correct blanket statement. I understand fluids and coefficients of drag, but ICEs are also not uniform in efficiency.
My problem with the comment is that time is in no way a factor in the MILES PER GALLON equation.

Well since you brought that up Holly...
It's clear the guy Tim is quoting has the IQ of a rabbit, he's a total idiot. And his projection is perfect, he's making a purely political statement (it's that evil liberal media trying to destroy your life) while making a really stupid argument and blaming it on the liberal press and politicians:
"Most Congress persons probably can't figure mpg or mph to check the article for accuracy."
Obviously, the dude that wrote that is the one who doesn't have a clue about fuel mileage calculations.
Like Tim says, time doesn't factor into the mpg equation.
And for the record, yes lowering the speed limit to 55 would save everybody lots of gas and drastically lower our dependence on foreign oil. It's a proven fact, we've already done the experiment, although some of you dudes born after Jimmy Carter was president may not know about it.
Not that I'm in favor of the idea (time IS a part of that mph equation).

FBs are exempt, as is the REPU, but I've still got one damn OBD-II truck that's gotta get scanned every year. I have to reset the battery, make it 50 miles without a check engine light, get tested, and THEN get a tag. sux.
crit, there's a question about rx2s that i don't know but thought u might:

Brett, someday, when you are Old and Wise, you will rue the day you sold your 1985 Mazda RX7 GS. Money matters when you are less than 20, but regrets last a lifetime.
I still wish I had that '38 Chevy pick up truck I had back in the late '70's. Running boards, outboard headlights, Chevy small block V8 with a Hurst shifter and a Ford rear end. And yes, rust free, although the metal on that thing was three times the gauge you see on modern cars.
I'm working up the final version of the OGTA calendar, should have it over the holiday weekend.

In the mean time, here's a quiz. Who said this and when?
"I twisted my ankle at ZF. I ended up walking past them in the middle of the night drunkenly, aimlessly looking for the bathroom with an obvious limp, and I hear the Zombie call. You know, "Brains..... Braaaaiiiiinnss"."

Michael, the second batch of 1st gen calendars is in, so I checked it out. Turns out Monday is Martin Luther King's birthday, so we have it off here in GA. You should come down here and work, those SC politics suck.
I got four more of Chris' calendars in the mail, so folks on the list who show up at the Feb OGTA and/or send me $5.00 for shipping (plus a $5.00 donation, which will be sent straight to Haiti) will qualify for a 2-2-10 pick up:
1. Michael ($5.00) - will order (done)
2. Colin - $5 collected for purchase of 1st gen calendar - will order (done)
3. Ben - $5 collected for purchase of 1st gen calendar - will order (done)
4. Ace - will order (done)
5. Roland - will order (1st reserve)
6. Donnie? (2nd reserve)
7. Greg the Elder? (3rd reserve)
8. Others?

Correct Holly, that was Crit wandering around ZF '08. You win an OGTA calendar!
Chris, that explains it, Monday is your birthday, which must be why it's a holiday here in GA (MLK never was that big in Georgia anyway). How Old are you getting to be? Do you want me to put the "hoods" photo in the OGTA calendar? If so, please send a high resolution photo, the one I snagged off the internet will look a little fuzzy.
Yes Michael, send me $5.00 to cover the shipping for the calendar, another $5.00 if you want to donate to the calendar fund that is subsidizing the 1st gen calendars so that everyone can have one for $5.00. Either mail to: 3405 Jefferson River Rd, Jefferson, GA 30549, or send paypal to: surelypeaches@yahoo.com. Also be sure to send my your mailing address, I'll get the calendar right out to you.
