You've got a few options, Quad, what you want to do with the oil injectors. You'll want to either a) plumb the two on the housings into a vacuum tee and run the other two to the carb float bowl, b) swap the 12A front cover onto the SE motor and use the 12A OMP (two feed lines) or c) cut the crimps off the SE OMP so you can remove the lines without damage (they're valuable to us SE guys). You can then tee some new tubing together to feed the Holley float bowl.

I think option 3 works best. I already cut the omp lines that didn't go into those injectors (Sorry! I thought they would mount straight into the little system Kevin had to get the OMP lines into the float) I would do option 1, but there's not much room beween the top of the injectors and the bottom of the manifold, so I don't know how well I'd be able to get a vacuum line on there. I MIGHT be able to run a 90 degree angle from them to get it to work, but that would be all trial and error...

Ben is coming over again today to help me work on the SE, hopefully it'll be up and running by the end of the day.

I'll keep taking pictures and keep you all posted on any questions or concerns either of us have.

The SE block had old-school coolant seals and front-mount front cover but was otherwise a preproduction FC block. It's got the extra tapped holes under the center iron for mid-engine mounts, it's got the same coolant drain setup, 4-line OMP with big copper gasket, vacuum-boosted oil injection, 6-port induction, etc.

None of the Mazda swaps are really all that hard, but swapping an FC engine into an SE is the epitome of easy.

yeah i had read a previous post of urs stating this. having never really dealt with the se engines, didn't all 4 omp lines go to those oil injectors? if so, then he could still do that. and all the reading i've done over the yrs i knew it was just a matter of changing front cover and oil pan, and maybe a few other things, to swap an fc engine into an fb. the other thing i liked reading about was the fact of i think it was the se front cover having the provision for oil return for turbo, which is going to be one of few upgrades i plan to do in the near future.

Ok peeps, this is Cathy, Ray's wife. Just wanted to try and get a head count of who will be here on Saturday to make sure that I have enough food to feed everyone. How about hot roast beef sandwiches, potato salad (for those of you who haven't had mine before, it doesn't include mustard) and maybe some sauteed mushrooms, lettuce and tomato's? Is that doable? Any requests? Is Mt.Dew, Dr. Pepper and water alright with everyone? I just might throw in a couple of beers for the older folks...

Just let me know. barefoot(dot)chef(at)yahoo(dot)com.

Holy crap! It's the cajun persuasion!

Sadly Cathy, I don't think I'm gonna make it...I don't think Craig wants to go with.

I'll be there obviously haha, I should make a thread for it.

Thanks Cathy, you and Ray are too nice, you didn't have to do that.

The SE front cover just has a raised boss below the OMP with some casting flash on there. On the TII that's where the return went. Just drill and tap and you're there.

Regarding the injectors, they're not REALLY vacuum boosted, but rather atmospherically boosted. Every time you cycle from low to high vacuum, the diaphragm on the OMP injectors wiggles, draws in a little more oil, and you get an extra shot. Kinda like an accelerator pump for oil. There are two injectors that thread into the rotor housings, which Kevin could reuse, and two in the primary intake runners, which he can't (Holley manifold). I'd think that atomized oil would be the best of all worlds, so I'd imagine that putting it all in the float bowl is the way to go. Of course, the injected engines didn't have a float bowl, but for those doing a turbo build with a fuel surge tank, I think that would be the best possible place for it.

Except that there might be trash in your oil, which might give your fuel injectors trouble, so nevermind.

Anyway, many may disagree, but I think that four lines teed together into one or two and run up to the Holley float bowl would be ideal for Quad, plus he can find a new home for the OMP lines that are so often cracked.

What's up everyone! I'm new to this as I'm sure you can tell. I know you are from GA but from where: north? south?... I am from FL but am stationed in SWGA (Albany). I have 2 Rx7's a 80 and a 91 GTU. All I've pretty much owned are Rx7s. I was wondering if there is anything going on around my neck of the woods. I've seen some nice cars in here!

Well, the OGTA group is largely on the NE side of Atlanta, just outside of the Perimeter (I-285). I've got family down in Albany, though. I'd invite you up for a beer, but I know how long a drive it is!

Well I replaced the wiper motor. Dunno for sure if it's fixed the problem...seems to only do it after heavy use, so.. We'll see. Could be the harness (short) or maybe both of my switches, while they do work, could have bad relays.... Dunno

I can't wait for this weekend, damnit...I need the vacation..

Um...Michael, if you have the funeral tent (or anyone else) that just might be what we need. In fact a couple would be a good idea!

I would offer the use of mine and bring it over for you guys to use, but it finally snapped in a few places cuz my mom left it outside, with no anchors, in a storm.

I wonder if there's anything I could contribute? Would a second hoist be of use?

Maybe, so we can have 2 teams pulling the 2 engines at the same time, Ray's old 12A and my 13B.

Perhaps, especially if yours happens to reach 1/8" longer than mine. Mine will JUST BARELY kiss the bumper with the pump, so that you end up jacking up the paint on the front of the car. SP1 has a shorter nose, so that's a no-brainer. If need be, we can put a towel on SP2 to protect it.

Sounds like a good time. Wish it wasn't a 7.5 hr haul, though. You guys would probably be done before I could even get there.
