Oh crap, I forgot you have a shell lying around, but knowing you you'll want too much for it. I'm not playing the "here is my offer" game Ray, spit out a ridiculously high price I can say no to already. (seriously if you want to help me out for something I can afford, I'd LOVE your shell, that thing is clean, and I know it was taken care of, and I promise, no sexypants stickers)

The SexyPants sticker would be a requirement of any deal for sure Chris! I can't even imagine your car not having that sticker.
I wasn't planning on selling the White One, but then I'm old enough to have learned that plans don't matter much in the real world. There would be value gained by seeing her at OGTA meetings sometime in the next year, which probably won't happen if the Silver One meets expectations.
Let's see what Roland comes up with, it sounds like he has a good lead on an 83, which would be the same body style as you already have. The price tag on the White One shell would be $500, that's something I'd already thought about but then rejected because I figured it would be better to have the car than the money. But like I said, there's value added in knowing it would stay in the family.
Again, sorry to hear of the recent events, that hurts, we all know what you put into that car in sweat, money and love.

Nice car, but $25,000? Could that be a misprint?

not if he want to keep it. Maybe he is showing his wife that he is trying to sell it.
But ya, hope it is a miss print. If not then he will be posting it for years to come.

Ok, I want to see what Roland is talking about, but so far, Ray's white one is my favorite option .Billy will store the wrecked 7 for me while I save for the shell to swap it in, but his neighborhood is too nice to have us monkeying around on the car, so last thing I need in this equation is a place where I can complete the swap from my car to Ray's/Roland's/whoever's shell I buy.
Also a big THANK YOU to everyone helping me out and wishing me good luck. Billy, Crit, Ray, Collin, everyone else who I have spoken with, thanks for all the talk of help to come.

You're talking about a 1-day swap, if you're thinking about Ray's car or a similar arrangement. Putting a Dellorto 13B into a 12A car is quick. You can pick and choose interior bits over time.
If you get a shell, then an engine/tranny/rearend is one long day, plus interior work/brakes, etc. I'd plan on one solid day with help, and some time on your own to get sorted.
Either way, it's not something that's too tough to recover from quickly, for the sake of not camping out at Billy's.

Crit's got a good point, getting this sorted out quickly would be to everyone's benefit. Cleaning up the yard a bit would be a positive for me, although the White One is my favorite lawn ornament at the moment (Cathy doesn't agree).
Chris, check out your options, beat the bushes for a day or two and come up with a plan A, a plan B and a plan C, each with specifics. Then work your way down your list to see what can be done quickly to get you back to your studies.

Yeah Ray I've got a REALLY solid plan A revolved around buying your car. And Crit, I think I've worked out every little detail.
-Billy tows and stores the car while I save
-when I have enough, I buy the shell from Ray
-OGTA members who want to help help me with the swap will do so
-Collin says he MIGHT be able to let me use his drive way and engine lift for the swap day when it's decided, provided I have the junky FB towed to a scrap yard before that weekend is over
-my friend Chris Tyre who flips car, currently has 3 Mazda Proteges and a Mazda Miata and is willing to let me borrow one of the Proteges to drive to school for a month so long as I pay for one month insurance.
With this solid plan A, in a months time, or maybe a little longer depending on how much $$ I can save and how quickly, I'd have a REALLY clean version of my car. Does anyone see a major flaw in my plan that I have overlooked? I think I've covered expenses, transportation, storage, and materials.
They say in times like these you really know who your friends are and I knew the OGTA was nice but I never forsaw this much suport guys, thank you all so much. I really owe you one. Some OGTA meet when I am a little better recovered financially I'll pay for a few pitchers of beer that night. Ray, Billy and Collin would each get their own for all their kindness and help, and Chris T. if he wants to come that night to redeem his beer.

You might be eligible for one of those OGTA loans, $100 down, $100 a month, I'll check with the financial officers.
We could do the swap at my house, if a gravel driveway doesn't bother anyone (sometimes girls prefer concrete). But we need to make arrangements to haul away the hulk (sorry Chris, I know it still hurts). Think of it this way, Sexy Pants will be resurrected, just as the White One was when I built the Silver One.
Call me about the details, but not till Saturday, I am totally swamped with school stuff.

And I completely understand, Sexypants will be missed, but if this all works, it's going to be better than before, and I just need to keep looking ahead, and start thinking about my engine bay cleaning techniques, and actually learn how to clay bar and wax, if I'm going to be driving the white one I have HUGE shoes to fill.

Chris - I am gonna look at the car tomorrow for you. I am pretty sure it is missing a fender and the seats. I also think it has a dent on one of the rear quarters. It has a drum brake in it but I figured you would use your rear-end. I will know more tomorrow. I am thinking $300.00 - can send pics tomorrow. What is your email?

I'm thinking the same thing Mike, great community project. If Chris can strip what he needs from his car and get rid of the hulk (sorry Chris, I know this still hurts) then put the stuff for the shell in a truck and bring it out to Jefferson (the center of the rotary universe) we can have a group build on an upcoming weekend.
Let's get Chris rolling again.
This one has possibilities:
Also this guy in Minnissota wants me to find a good home for his SA:
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the carb kit info - Yeh, I know I'm looking at $1,200 - I really had no idea, but I guess by asking $2,500 it made me look uninformed. Honestly, I was just trying to avoid low ball offers - but as a result, I got little interest at all! Live and learn! Pass the price on to a friend that likes yellow - the crease and a few small touch ups, but it really is the originial paint - no body work at all. I will try the carb kit if I get time but I'm afraid of making it run worse!! Best regards, Mike
Ray, I wish I were in your neighborhood, I would have informed friends to help me keep chipping away at it - unfortunately I don't trust any of the rx7 guys I've meet here in Mpls over the last 31 years. I guess I live a sheltered life or maybe everyone wants to sell me this or that part. Oh, the transmission and clutch were rebuilt by mazda about 18,000 miles ago - new battery and new alternator (last month) with good tires - but original muffler is getting loud (still has original cat - I heard not to mess with it unless necessary). Bottom line is my wife hates the car (replaced shocks and struts with oem but I didn't do springs - should have!). Carb work is really last on my list of things to do because it really hurts my back (I've had 2 L4 back operations). It's a bittersweet thing to part with a car after caring for it for so long - I know that with a little time and a few parts, my yellow "x" would make a nice addition to an avid fan's collection!. Again Ray, Thanks, Mike

Chris - I checked out the white RX7 today. It was half covered in Kudzu. Interior is complete less the seats and the radio and shifter surround. Interior is burgandy. Exterior is white with X-mags on it. It may possibly be more than you are willing to want to fix on the car. The driver side rear has some body damage but definitely fixable. The front fender on one side has a dent and the front valence in between the headlights is missing. There is a trans in the car as well. Let me know either way - if not know big deal. I will just part it out. Sorry for the crappy picture - I did not have anything to cut the Kudzu with me.

Ok. Well, since Ga Michael hasn't called me back, I'm gonna need a 12A motor soon. I really need to have it installed before Sunday the 18th. If anyone has one, let me know. I'll also need a place/ people to help me install it. I'm not too knowledgeable about how to undo an entire motor. Can anyone help me?
