I'm down to pay for a calender.

I hate when it gets cold, the car gets hard to start.

Does your high-idle accelerated warmup doohickey not work?

I'll probably be shunned from the OGTA group for letting this happen, but you guys know how it's been so cold lately? The FB's just fine with it's coolant mix, but the FC's been neglected since it's been drinking a bit of coolant lately and I've been only adding water... so I tried starting it today, and low and behold, there wasn't enough antifreeze, and the belts on the waterpump were slipping. So I guess the block's frozen, just like the coy pond on the back patio

I've got the other block waiting to be dropped in, so I'm not really worried about the frozen one, but hopefully the radiator and whatever else isn't jacked up. I felt like a retard telling my uncle that I let it freeze like that, though.

Anywho, I still plan on being at the Jan 5 meet. Doesn't someone want that RB strut brace? You can be cool like Donnie's SA

Brett, unfreeze that block if you can. Just loosen the alternator, slip the belt off, and fire it up. Once warm, you can add the belt again and circulate the water, then add some antifreeze. Seriously, there's no reason to just junk an engine out of complacency.

Alternately, maybe you've got a garage spot available somewhere near - maybe someone's car can sit outside for one night while yours thaws.

Crit I don't know if the doohickey is working. It's just been a bitch to start the car the past couple of days.

it's easy to tell, start your car, and if it revs itself to 3K and holds it, the AWS works.

As far as being hard to start, my car starts up, and with a few pumps of the pedal, it's ready to idle after maybe 30 seconds.

Oh yea it idles around 3k, it just takes a few pumps of the pedal or a second or third turn of the key to start

****, son, you don't know hard to start yet. Start a carbed motor with no choke when it's below freezing. Seriously, though, it sounds like you should be able to make it out, especially when you think you could fire the car up just as the sun goes down and the day has warmed up.

We'll see how the Silver One does this morning, she's been taking the last few weeks off during the holidays but today I need to trek into Atlanta and get started on the new semester. Should be a real test.

Chris got back to me on the 1st gen calendars, he's fine with adding more orders at $12 each, so we'll distribute the 10 that are supposed to arrive this afternoon to the first ten folks on the list tomorrow evening, then use any $5.00 donations we receive to offset the next order (I'll let Romulo take mine back with him to Warner Robbins, because of the distance; if you can't make it to the meeting to pick up your calendar on Tuesday you will be bumped to the wait list).

So here's the updated list, if you will please check it over and let me know if you want to do the $5.00 so I can get an idea how many more folks we can add to the wait list. If you are not on the list but want a calendar, please add you name to the wait list.

1. Ray ($5.00)
2. Holly
3. Mike
4. Billy ($5.00)
5. Crit
6. Greg the Elder
7. Chris ($5.00)
8. Quad, if he can get Nightmare to show up ($5.00)
9. Donnie
10. Troy ($5.00)
11. Greg the Younger

Wait list:
12. Michael
13. Colin ($5.00)
14. Ben
15. Romulo

Hey, there is a garage spot actually Remember my uncle's place where you picked up those OMP lines? We're using that left side to park the FC, there's just the remains of Collin's paint booth and a mower in there that need to be moved. What a productive thing to do today.

I know you scientists have your own way of looking at numbers, from the management side of the house, I don't think your going to make it work if the cost is $12 and the revenue is $5.

Put me down for a donation.

I'll be there driving the ghost. The blue one has been in the garage for over a week. I keep finding things to fix.

Crit, I'll bring the AC components.

Donnie, I'll bring the door handles - left you a voicemail today.

Hey hey, the Silver One started right up this morning, it was 18 degrees out. You gotta love those Nikki's.

The new Super Speeder Law does put a damper on the commute now though, anything over 80 mph on I85 north of the 985 split is considered Super Speeding - what a joke!

There is also a law on the Georgia books that says unless you are clocked at more than 10 miles over the speed limit, it is not speeding and won't hold up in court (this is to account for common errors found in the equipment used to check driver speeds).

So, since the speed limit is presently 70 mph on I85 north of the split, this means everybody that gets a ticket on I85 from the Gwinnet, Braselton, Pendergrass or Jefferson Police is a Super Speeder and gets to pay an extra couple hundred bucks that the town gets to keep.

Why not, if it helps the town accounts?

And what about the out of staters who haven't been informed about this little Georgia gem?

I can see the CNN articles now about the unfair small town Georgia speed traps, in perfect keeping with the Bubba Tradition practiced by the Pendergrass and Arcade Police Departments. It's amazing what a recession will do.

Anyway, the Good News is that the 1st batch of 1st gen calendars came in today so they will be available for tomorrow evening's get together. Nice work Chris!

Mike, does that mean if I clear a profit on the calendars I get to keep it?

Here's the updated Calendar list:

1. Ray ($5.00)
2. Holly
3. Mike ($5.00)
4. Billy ($5.00)
5. Crit
6. Greg the Elder

Kevin (Ace) I told you before you left Georgia, you would be back soon.

Ray, put me down for $5 donation too. That is a wonderful gesture on your part to get the 12A count up on a cold cold Georgia January night. And, since I don't think I will be able to find a 1st gen to roll in tomorrow night, I am willing to give up my calendar spot for the out of towners: like Romulo and Michael, if he makes the meeting.

Not quite. Anything over 75 on a 2-lane road or over 85 on any road qualifies as super speeder. You have to top 85 on the interstate, not 80.

Secondly, they're collected separately after you've paid your municipal fine, and goes to fund only the GA trauma center network. It basically pays for greasy stains that people generate at 120mph on a freaking bike. Either way, local towns won't see the added revenue.

So I85 north of the 985 split is not a two lane road? I figured it has two lanes, the slow lane, on the right, and the passing lane, where the soccer moms drive lexuses and talk on cell phones.

Cool, I can manage to stay under 85, even 80 isn't that bad when you see all those local police out feasting on the speeders.

Calendar List Update:

1. Ray ($5.00)
2. Holly
3. Mike ($5.00)

Great - so much for what we may have thought was the one redeeming feature of the "Super Speeder Law". Am I the only one who finds it ironic that the law's requirement that trauma centers treat all comers, even if they are uninsured victims of their own stupidity with no ability to pay the bill, is the cause of the funding shortage that the law must then make up by slapping a "Super Speeder" label and a hefty 'bonus' fine on anyone with the temerity to exceed the rural freeway speed limit by 15 mph? (I could make a similar accusation about healthcare costs in general and overreaching legislation, but I digress...) Seems I remember special legislation not long ago that targeted 20 mph over as the "too far" mark...I guess if government budget shortfalls continue, 10 over will be a "Super Speeder" in the not-too-distant future.

I just made the observation to an acquaintance the other day that the speed limits on the freeways used to be 75 mph or higher in many areas into the early '70's. We all know what awful brakes, pudgy chassis, and skinny bias-ply tires typified cars of that era, and cars and freeway construction have both improved to the point where a rational person might think that speed limits could reasonably be 40% higher or more, especially if we consider the advent of passive restraint systems (airbags) as a standard feature on cars. People claim the freeways can't handle the "volume" of traffic, but common sense tells us if the average speed doubles, that the same number of lanes can handle twice as many cars....so going faster is actually the answer to our traffic problems -- or it would be, if we had a meaningful skills requirement in our driver licensing programs, right?

In defense of speed,
Troy

Ray - How do I go about getting a calendar? Let me know how much they are. I can just purchase one. I will not be able to make the meet. I have a customer coming from outta state with a 7 and they will not be here until about 7 or 8pm. I would be glad to drive to Jefferson one day this week or next week and pay you for it plus I could check out the farm! Let me know.
