Let's do some remote diagnostics on the fuel problem with the help of some other OGTAs that are a bit more analytical than me (I tend to depend on a tried-and-true set of FB superstitions that work, but I have no idea why). If that doesn't do, it I can make the trip up and take a shot at it. Or if we can identify the carb as needing help you can pull it and bring it down here for a rebuild - I have lots of spare carb parts in case something is needed.

I was actually reading everything about stripping a Nikki down (haha) and removing everything emissions related, gutting the cats (or they could have already melted like my cars, who knows), gutting the air pump like you did, the rats nest removal, 2GDFI, and all that good stuff that's close to free since I'm still kicking this college budget stuff. But we'll all get into that later- Dad's here!

hey, does anyone here have an extra s3 fuel level sender? the green car has a bad one and is permanently on empty. i checked mazdatrix and they want 114 plus shipping...

 

Is s3 the same thing as FB? I got an 84/85 tank out there we might be able to get it out of.

Well, I drove the FB for the first time since I bought it. Front brakes are done and rears will be done tomorrow. However it is running really rich and floods itself whenever it feels like it. I have a fuel line leak under the hood which I will fix tomorrow and Chris and I have no idea what is going on with the fuel pump. If it has a fuel filter, its isn't where it should be and I believe the fuel pump has been replaced with one much too powerful. I'll know more tomorrow when I jack the rear end up and remove that metal plate. Thanks to everyone who has helped me and I'll keep everyone posted on how it's coming.

It's probably a good thing I've got no time or money for RX-7 projects right now (the Silver One is still waiting). With all these great deals coming up I'd have the driveway filled with cars again.

I took a trip to Myrtle Beach this weekend. Man, what a blast. My 25 year old 7 out there playing with late model cars and not breaking a sweat. I got to put some tool in a late model VW in his place. It did require forcing my way past him at a speed I shouldn't post.

The car ran great. On an all highway leg of the trip I averaged 24.4 MPG. Running around 80 MPH with occasional sprints to get around traffic, the car was planted on the road and never stopped pulling.

 

I just looked at the Zoom Fest caravan thread. We got a good crew headed up from ATL. Are there any plans to meet up and drive in together on Saturday morning? Last year we met at the Cracker Barrel for breakfast and drove in as a group. I got behind Billy, in the ReSpeed mule. It was October before my head cleared after inhaling those exhaust fumes.

 

I forgot about that, Mike. I'll likely take the car up on Friday, but I can caravan in the REPU on Saturday morning. If we do it, we need to meet at CB around 7 as it would be quite beneficial if we're the first to process through registration. If 7am is too early, then I'll go in early and just see you guys when you come in.

Y'all don't forget to bring folding chairs, sunscreen, bug repellant, etc. Those staying for the PDX on Sunday will also need a full tank of gas, helmet, long shirt, long pants, and shoes without open toes.

 

I dont know if the 7's gonna make it to ZF... I need to replace the battery and change out the fuel pump but I just cant find the time!!!

 

If you really can't find 30 minutes between now and then, let me know. I'll come by at some point and knock them out for you.

Mike I'm up for the caravan from the Cracker Barrel (is that "Cracker" like in Southern Redneck?, never noticed that) but like Crit says, 7:00 am is WAY too early (unless we need to put Kevin's fuel pump in - I can bring the jack; got the battery too if Brett doesn't snag it).

Besides I like hanging out in line for 45 minutes watching the wives process the two or three folks ahead of me, I know I'm not being commercialized.

Sounds like that trip to Myrtle Beach confirms the Gray Ghost's name Mike, just a few months ago you were looking for a 13B.

 

Sure Ray, but everyone that shows up at 8:45, jams the ticket office, and stands in line does a great disservice to the greater good. Everyone that puts that line late makes Holly miss Zoomfest, as she's the one helping at the ticket office.

I guess I will be carvanning with Billy & Crit. I will be there Friday afternoon to see what I have to do to set up, and what time I have to arrive on Saturday morning.

 

Crit, what time on Friday are you and Billy going to drop off the truck and trailer? I may possibly bring my trailer with parts. And the drive the cars on Sat. It is still up in the air as we still have lots to do.

 

As I recall Mike and I showed up around 10:00 am last year, there was a short line and we really did enjoy the wait, spending the time jabbing with people in line and with the women in the both, who tired to explain to us what we were registering for. If Holly is there she can tell them we are both hopeless and uneducatable so don't bother, which should speed things up considerably.

 

Friday = 7AM-9AM,
Friday Night = 5:30PM-7PM
Saturday = 7AM-9AM

This is what was emailed out to all atendees. These are the times that Zoom-Fest sign in will be open.

Anything after these times (especially on Saturday morning) means you are signing in during the regular SCCA race weekend sign in.

This backs up the SCCA. Then we, Zoom-Fest, start to become a hindrance to the normal race crowd. Please try and make it during one of the times listed.
