So I checkout out my sunroof today. I took out the headliner and what not and blew out the drains, then got to looking around and found this:

Hopefully that holds up for a while till I get the spare sunroof tray thing Collin has. All I had was that high-temp RTV... And I taped it up to press it all in the cracks. And I did the sunroof drains to be cool

And now my uncle's trying to get me to trade my FC for a turbo'd miata...

Crit, any chance I can borrow your compression tester? I want to confirm the worst before I take the next step.

Mike, Collin's got my compression tester. If you can convince him to come out Tuesday night, you're welcome to it.

Chad has the all time record for commuting to a regular tuesday night meeting for sure and it's not the first time he's been down this way (although sometimes he shows up in a detroit built tank). Stu used to be our poster child for travel lust, but he got too old after he turned 21 for out of state adventures. Kent is quite the traveler too, he came down from the West Virginia hill tops for one of the weekend meets. I think he's over in Iraq now.

Mike would look good in this one for sure although I'm not sure Michelle would go along with the chicks knocking on the windows at the stop lights. Mike in this economy you should have no trouble talking him down from the $4800 to $3500.

Well as you guys can tell I sitting in class proctoring my Microbiology and Immunology exam, not much to do since all the students are 100 % honest. If they only knew where their tutition money was going.

Crit when you coming back? You are coming back, right?

I am serious about getting another 7. But, $3500 is a little more than I want to spend. You guys keep an eye out for me. I am looking for somthing with around 150k on it, clean, and no rust. Now if I found an FB, tender blue, with gray cloth interior... oooh. That gives me chill bumps.

Collin, can you bring Citt's compression guage to OGTA on Tuesday. We can have compression check party and see just how sick the Gray Ghost is.

Pick up a motor. Someone has to have a running 12a around here.

You know, Mike, a 13B swap might not be a bad idea. You'll need a 12A-13B adapter, or a new carb, but you'll have a faster car for it, and you'll get to really put your stamp on the car with a motor swap.

I have considered doing a motor swap. The problem is I need to get the car up and running relatively soon. So I would have to assemble all the parts quickly and then be able to do the swap over a weekend (translation - I would need some OGTA help to get this done). The other concern I have with a swap is getting a "good" motor. I would really hate to go through the trouble of a swap and have the replacement motor go bad after a short time.

Now that I told you my concerns, tell me more about this "12A-13B adapter". Does this mate the Nikki up to a 13B? How rare are these things? I assume I would need a 13B from FB to make this work. What else would I need? Will the 13B bolt up to a 12A transmission?

Anyone know where I could get a "good" 13B?

Any 13B NA would work. You've got old or bastardized 4-ports, SE 6-ports, or FC 6-ports that will all work. It's as easy as inspecting the internals best you can (or see the engine run), pull yours out, swap the front cover onto the new engine, and reinstall. The front cover step takes 10 minutes, and it's otherwise just as much time and effort as a one-for-one 12A swap.

There are adapters to mate a 4-port 12A manifold to a 4-port 13B, or 12A to 6-port 13B available. I recall Billy using one recently. I imagine that a Nikki may work as-is, could be re-jetted (you can still order jets from Mazda for just a few bucks) or you can go with an aftermarket carb. Of course, you can also go with a Hitachi or Nikki that was sized for a 13B originally, too, but it won't have all the features for hot start, emissions, and such. Check out p.n. 11832 on Racing Beat's website. You can also notch the stock mount, if you don't want to spend the $100.

In the end, I wonder if a Nikki and Hitachi have the same bolt pattern. If so, you could just use an old-schooler intake manifold, which might be found cheap.

You'll also need an SE oil pan, but maybe Chris can be talked out of one, or I can dig one up for you.

Looks like a candidate for another respeed part (not that there's any shortage of candidates....)

I wanted to come, but I had a Chemistry test the next day that i would need to study for. Last night my Professor post poned the test till the following Monday! So, if the weather is nice and I can get the SA back together(just minor prepping for DGRR) then the fiance and I will be there.

The 7 turned 230,000 miles on the way to work Monday and looked good doing it.

I got the defroster and rear cargo light to work this past weekend.
I think my wife's 2001 minivan has more things that don't work than does the 7 (don't tell her I said that).

In that case, Kevin, let's hook up a starter and battery, and compression test that motor you've got. Mike may have lucked out.

Screw it, Tim. You don't count anyway. You'll only show up if it's raining, but the FB doesn't even HAVE any wipers, so you'd be in a boinger anyway.

FYI, for anyone looking for manifold adapters or standalone carb manifolds, this company has a good bit of stuff. We'd be buying from the non-GST price list, plus take about 30% off to convert to US dollars.
