Boinger help?

This is for a guy here at work. Pontiac Grand Slam I think 2.4 liter inline 4.

We were out for work one day, finished up, went to come back, and when he started his car, it immediately died. He tried to start it again, made some clanking noises, and then apparently the motor temporarily locked up. He got it towed home.

He has been trying to diagnose the problems now. He went to look at the timing chain tensioner (been replaced 3 or 4 times already, 150k miles), and apparently the chain was stretched pretty good. So he is fairly certain the chain jumped a few teeth.

He's the cheapest person in the world, so he won't pull the head for fear he might have to replace the gasket. So they put the new chain in, cranked it, and had a nice boom with smoke/fire out of the bottom end.

That's where it's at now. He claims smoke out of the bottom end, not the exhaust manifold or anything.

Any thoughts about what could be going on at this point? Where he should check next, possibly one of them cash for junk cars places?

This is the problem with valves.

I lost you at............inline 4.....Then again at........timing chain........And what are these valves of which you speak?

Don't put the octamom in the capitalist category. She is clearly a socialist.

But, I am with you on investing in RX-7s. At least the 1st gens are holding their value. That's better than the retirement savings.

Hey, Ray what would you charge me for Michelle and I to live in goat house when I retire?

I like that better And since I'm procrastinating some homework I played in paint some more.

Point 'A' is just the intersection of 400 and 60, and there's a home depot there that's hard to miss. Maybe we could meet there and snap a few pictures. There's also a gas station there on the other side of the street so we can fill up and what not. Then we could grab some food in Dahlonega if some people haven't eaten, and drive by the college I'm going to And there's some small things there in Turner's Corner too for a pit stop too.

I'm excited...

Goat house is taken, we are moving in when the goats move out, renting out the house. And actually Mike, I was putting octamom's and capitalists in the same category: Parasites. People who make money on money are the lowest of the low.

And if we were truly a functioning socialist society (like China) we wouldn't have any octamom's, they'd be in jail (along with the capitalists).

But yeah I'm just pissed because the Madoff's and the AIG execs made off with $35,000 (30%) of my cautiously invested retirement funds (TIAA-CREFF's managers, not me). So much for trusting capitalists, I'm taking charge of what's left and investing it in 84/85 GSLs.

Anyway, enough pushing this boulder uphill, back to the weekend jaunt. The weather looks OK, but not great, probably hovering in the '50's but with some sun, at least:

http://www.weather.com/weather/weeke...nav_undeclared

Looks like we have some attrition, Chris, Colin, Crit, others? And would you guys be interested if we did this on another date, if a good alternative could be found, keeping in mind that rescheduling usually causes more problems than it solves?

And Brett, this looks like a great loop!

It's ok if you guys want to do it on the same date, rescheduling does tend to cause more problems, and I have the autocross to let out my driving aggression.

Yahoo says it'll be mostly sunny with a 10% chance of precip. and a high of 61 degrees, and that's using Dahlonega as a location. But they're always full of lies I'll probably run most of it with my heater on to keep the temps down

And I bought some new tires that should be here and could get put on before Saturday, but I think my current rears can take some more before I should change them out. I bought some 225/50/15 Falken Ziex 512's for $$68/ tire. They're a big 4 cm wider than stock! hah

I've got a college visit the saturday after, so I think if this does get rescheduled it should be put off like 2+ weeks instead of 1.

Kevin, sorry to hear about Jennifer's dad. You are doing the right thing being there for her.

No weekend will work for everyone. We should go ahead an do the ride this Saturday. If there is enough interest an other ride will get scheduled.

Anyone of you guys good with refig repair, or know a good appliance repair person? My frig seems to be stuck in defrost mode. I opened my freezer this morning to water leaking out the icemaker. Come to think of it, it had been making funny noise for about a week, but I thought ice got stuck under the icemaker.

And, anybody want a passenger for the mountain ride? That's if I get the frig repaired.

Can't say I do Holly .

Not sure what I'll drive this weekend. Hopefully I'll figure out what's going on with the cooling fan in the 1st gen and bring that.
