Eastern NC RX7 meet...............
Wussup guys, I been lookin' through the *** load of pages in this post lookin for perhaps a next RX7 meet. I am surprised there are some RX enthusisasts this close to me. I live in Richlands about 10 miles outside of Jacksonville. I dont really see many 7's around here. I just bought my first gen w/ plans for a chevy small block swap. Actually I have three in all 2 '83 GSL's and an '80 GS?. Anyways I just wanted to introduce myself and I'll keep checkin in. Later, JWH
uhoh...conveting a rotary to a piston driven car? you are defying the wankel gods!!!!!
ok, now that the normal bullshit it out of the way i can be serious. are you planning on fabricating things yoruself=? or are you goign to buy a conversion kit?

Well, I'm looking at the Grannys kits. I've read the bad **** about em but you cant really go wrong when they take orders COD only. Dont get me wrong, I'm not a rotary hater, its just that SBC's are my cup o tea.
well,
i will go ahead and fess up.
if my rotary ever blows beyond repair, i am seriously thinking about a GNX V6 TT conversion for mine. THAt is my cup of tea.
either that or a 20b

I'll be using a TH350. Actually I'm taking the drivetrain out of my V8 converted S10 and sticking it in there, But, I'll be using the stock rearend. I'd rather have a manual but an auto is what I got.
It was a stock 10 bolt 7.5 ring gear w/ welded spider gears (very dangerous and stupid). I meant I was going to use the stock 7 rear cuz its already got a LSD. I'll be using a steel driveshart also. This is a low budget build. VERY LOW. It shoul move pretty good though. I sunk some time and a little money in the engine when I built it.
well, i wouldn;t rely on that stock 7 rearend much if i were you. not for long anywayz. nto made for that kind of torque.
also, splurge and get an aluminum driveshaft. lower weight A LOT. which is the whole point of a motor swap like you are doing.

Well I've read up on a few swaps and they say as long as you dont put on anything too sticky and wide, it should be fine. The alum. driveshaft isnt really a concern as of now. It will be extremely light for that amont of torque anyway.
The only reaso i like to have high posts is so i can change what it says under my name. Doesn't eman much else.
