400 rwhp isn't going to kill a Z06 and neither is 430 rwhp. But 400 rwhp on a well tuned twin turbo FD can beat one. It has been done multiple times.

While you are at it please explain to us why longer gearing is an advantage to shorter multiple gears with lower ratios during acceleration?

If so i think the z06 has the advantage becuase it can hit a hair over 60 in first and can carry second well over a 100.

1st-2.66
2nd-1.7
3rd-1.3
4th-1
5th-.74
6th-.5

 

ok it doesnt have to shift as much but it will accelerate slower than having shorter gears.

 

Not exactly...It takes roughly three tenth's of a second to shift so if you have to shift more your using time your car could be using to accelerate.

Another thing just becuase you dont shift as much doesnt mean you accelerate slower! Look at dragster's they have like 2 gear's some even have one and they trap over 300mph!

The Vette has more than enough power to use those gear's!

In a 1/4 mile race the Vette has the advantage stock for stock but if you start modding everything gets thrown out the window.

 

power through out the rpms LS7>Rotary, of course when the power to weight is close, 2700lbs to 3100lbs. plus having a 7k redline helps too. my car doesn't need short gears because if i had them, it would be useless(spinfest). our gearing isn't too short or too long, its just right

 

i top out in 5th at 202...don't ask me how i kno...LOL

Boy did it change my perspective on things! Not only do I now know how many hp it takes to kill new Z06, but my eyebrows are also singed from the flame war that was just waged.

how does the standard c6 compare to the z06? I know it has 440hp vs. 500hp, the reason I ask is becuase my little brother owns one and claims he only loses by one car in a race against one. Is this possible?

...this made me hesitant to race him lol.

 

IIRC, the 08 c6's have 430 hp while the 06 c6 has 400 hp.

 

well back in july of 07 when i first got the car. i raced a stock 05 C6, and beat him badly (9 cars maybe= trains). then i raced his friends C6 which put down 390 to the tires, and won by 5 cars=buses.

 

well then I think it will be a close race then ...I knew he was full of **** lol.

 

I got my car tuned today with 410whp low and 450high GT3574,.. and happened to get next to a Z06 on the drive home! I thought it was a miracle. But he wouldent go, so I gave up. I gave it the gas to show him what he was missing. He got on it too and followed hard, but not what I wanted to see. I slowed down to see if he was ready to do it, he just waved politely. So then I destroyed a helpless Z28 lol

I dont know about you but 1st gear to 55mph, then the rest to about 130mph is just insanely fast.
