I found a couple things someone might be interested in:

RC Engineering rebuild secondary injectors (460's)

Front strut tower brace

Series 5 stereo surround

A few full intake setups

Any blue interior part you might need

*Cheap* I'm gonna start throwing stuff away. Let me know if you want anything.

Hi everyone. Yesterday was kind of a bad day as I found out that my ball joints were not properly fastened as I took a 90 degree turn at 30 mph at the Mothers Day Autocross at VMP. The bolt completely snapped at the holes where the cotter pin is supposed to be put in. Needless to say, when I got the engine installed he obvioulsy didnt use the cotter pins like he was supposed to. The crown nut was above the holes in the bolt, thus there was way too much stress on the section of the bolt that has the holes in it for the cotter pin, so it snapped.

Check out pictures here: http://angrycamel.com/gallery/05-08-..._Day_Autocross

Sooooo.... from what I understand, you cannot just get the ball joint assembly, you actually have to get the whole control arm which comes with it? Is the ball joint like pressed on by factory machinery or something?

Either way I need to find parts to fix it. At this point I would settle finding just a driver's side lower control arm, but if I could find both sides that would be great, because with the other one being the same way I am afraid that bolt may be very week now.

Ok found the part... since the ball joint is so conveniently pressed on you have to get the entire control arm replaced. That from mazda is $625... si needless to say I called around and ended up getting some 800 number from KDRotary (800-842-0810 x210) for used parts. They are sending the lower left front control arm with ball joint assembly for $100 shipped. Such a sigh of relief.

So who did the f'd up install on the engine? Just so I know who to watch for.

my weekend went like this

Lifes harsh little lessons

1. Always use the right tool for the job: I went to change the rear brake pads on the 7 this weekend, eveything was going fine until I had to put the caliper back over the new pads. According to the Haynes manual the brake piston which has to spun back into position can be don with a pair of needle nose pliers - yes it can be done this way but I wouldn't recommend it, I now have scars to prove so. So I went to Sears for the right tool and the other brake took 20 minutes to instead of an hour and no blood was spilled this time.

2. Don't speed on Route 64 when you get near C'ville: I got popped for 78 in a 65 which is better than the 100 he could have got me for earlier.

3.When blowing out the drain tubes on your car, don't put your face over the drain hole: I was wearing black face for awhile - it was kinda like a TV sitcom this weekend.

4.Check your cars air filter regularly: I removed about 2 cups worth of acorns and other debris from atop my air filter - car runs much better now.

Yeah, who messed up your car AC? Delta V? I'm not going back there after they messed up my coilovers and threw away my good brake rotors. I used to be a big fan of theirs, but not anymore. I even took off my delta v stickers! (dun dun dun).

I'll be at my dads house all tomorrow and wednesday (assuming I'm not out getting parts or something), so you can come by anytime. Call me before you come so I know to be here.

No it wasn't DeltaV. They have been extremely good to me. It is there now getting fixed. I am sorry to hear about your rotors and coil overs, but I must speak up for them as Jeff has gone out of his way to make sure that I stay a happy customer.

No the guy that installed the motor for me was the guy I bought the car from, Bill Claire, in SouthSide. You wont have to worry about dodging him anyways since he has sworn off the RX-7. Said he will never work on them again.

I didnt really know who to go to when the engine blew a few miles after I bought the car, so I called him up. It blew 2 days after the waranty ran out from Atkin's Rotary in Washington state. So Bill, I guess, felt bad since I had just paid 16k for the car, and offered to do the installation for free, mentioning that he would try to wheel and deal the waranty situation to get it cheaper. Well it worked, he go it shipped and rebuilt for 2500. It took a long time to get it all done because it was simply not a priority for him, but I understood and was thankful that he was doing it for free.

Well as it apears now, he cut a few corners in the suspension. Jeff has pointed out now after closer analysis that all around the car are loose connections due to not properly torquing nuts down and them working loose over time. But mainly the front, where no cotter pins were used in the ball joints.

It is not my intention to slander Bill Claire's name, because he does own Provident car care, but this is my story, all true.

-----------------------------

On a different note... I actually got a price for the lower control arm that was lower than what Fritz offered by ten dollars. $100 bucks shipped. I am not sure what this place is, but you can call 1-800-842-0810 x210 for used FD parts. Not sure if they have anything else, as I dont even know the name of the company.

well i havent posted in a while, i just got married may 7th and then we took off for our honeymoon to cancun, mexico. Now i thought when i got back i will have a chance to ride my bike, and fix my rex (coolant line blew last time i drove it). Im going to need some ideas on getting some revenge, we got married and at the reception we did not bring one of our vehicles due to us leaving that night and wouldnt have time to clean it up , so the groomsmen and best man decided they would leave me a present at the house for my welcome home. They used 51 rolls of toilet paper all over my house, 50 pounds of rice to fill the bathtubs and sinks, 10 pounds of confetti in my bed and in my AC/heat vents so when i turn on the AC it looks like a mardi gra, 4 bottles of dawn in my hot tub for that special bubble theme, and all 3 vehicles decorated. i spent most of the day today trying to clean up, and im going to probably spend most of the day tommorow then maybe i can work on my rex or go ride the bike. Any great revenge ideas will be appreciated.

does anyone have any springs or shocks for sale for a 2nd gen? My dads vert needs some suspension help, hes working on over 200k on stock everything. His car sits as low as mine and mine has lowering springs.

Yeah, I have a set of stock springs off my turbo. They are relatively new with around 15k miles on them. I also have a set of upper struts mounts in good condition as well.

I have no need for them now that I have my ground controls installed

You can have them if you want. PM me.

Thanks,
Spencer

speaking of springs and shox:
I went out to the parents place out in Stuarts Draft (they have a nice huge garage).
I got my rear strut sets removed and found I couldnd't get
the nut that holds the shock onto the mounting plate off.
Unfortunately I don't have an impact wrench just hand tools,
so the shaft of the shock just kept rotating, then I clamped a
Crescent wrench on it. At that point I could get shaft to hold still but the nut
wouldn't budge.
The one shock I put in the vice is now blown, oh yay! (note sarcasm)
Any suggestions? I am about ready to just take a metal grinder to it
and cut the damn thing off.
OOOh I also found that the spring compressors I bought won't fit up front in the car when trying to remove/install the strut assembly, JOY!!! (more sarcasm)

-Dave-
