No, I don't want to download your shitty software from your website. Yes, the MAC address is blah blah blah... Reboot and go.

That's how I've set up a bunch of cable modems. For some reason, I can't get my mother's running. I've been through three calls.

Damn your company. *shakes fist* Too bad it's the only game in town for me.
The provisioning system is down more than it is up.
The callcenter people and dispatchers are very lazy.
I see even more of what's wrong with the company than any one customer ever has, and most complaints I hear about the company on a daily basis are entirely fair and accurate... but for free service and a paycheck that keeps growing, I'll put up with it a little longer.

I've dug a trench from my house, halfway to the C/O as I patiently await FiOS...

My roll of multimode fiber is on order from Belden...

Seriously, who do I have to give head to to get decent internet service here?!

Anyone work for Verizon?

why did you buy multimode fiber? the FIoS service has a box that Verizon installs that converts THEIR fiber to normal coax for TV and an ethernet jack for the internet. theres no fiber cable that you have to get.

I bought it to bury between the road and my house, or better yet the C/O and my house...

I figure I should pitch in to help them get FiOS going... They're not working fase enough for me.

Re-read my post and see the sarcasm. I don't think the county will let me dig a trench down the entire street.

My dad and my step mom both work for verizon. However, they refused to go over to fiber techs.

Dig a trench.

Seriously, I wonder what they'd do if I rolled up with a spool of fiber trailing off the back of a ditch witch... I wonder how hard it would be to mount a ditch witch to the front end of my truck...

Me: *Knocks on C/O door*
Tech *answers door* "Help you sir? You're not supposed to be here y'know."
Me: "Sure. Where can I hook this up?" *Holds up fiber*
Tech:

Get some conduit for your trench. Verizon only runs conduit along the kerb for fibre; they would normally just bury the raw FOC in the dirt for the final run to your house. You might be able to get MVL or DSL from Cavalier. Cavtel also has TV service in Richmond now, next will be the beach area, then northern va, maybe by the end of the year or possibly sooner.

My buddy’s father was some kind of system engineer for verison
They merged with mci or whoever the hell they merged with and thus he got fired
They are now trying to contract him back for like twice the pay because the realized they are a bunch of morons and dont have anyone capable of doing his job
He is however holding out because he hates them for firing him with no warning
I believe this is the reason you and I are all stuck with paying comcast to throttle our torrent download speed

S'okay. I wouldn't fill it in until I knew it was working... Or better yet, bury a conduit and pull the fiber through after burial.

DSL is a no go... I have one type of phone. It lives in my pocket.

There is only ONE provider that I have spoken to that will provide bandwidth on a pair that's not used for voice. That'd be Speakeasy/Covad... For $50 a month. Not worth it.

**** comcrap...have you seen the box outside and the one in the laundry room?

our 'net was out for a ******* week and we couldn't get anyone to come look at it. on top of that, it's been longer since the boxes were last locked. half the cables going to the apartments aren't even hooked up, and most people are run off a couple of splitters in the box in the laundry room.

the whole building is one big clusterfuck of cables, half of which don't work.

---I had the ravens game on in the main room and also in my room. When I turned it off in my room I noticed I heard the exact same thing I just heard on the main room. Somehow I get TV 4 seconds sooner in my room then the main room.....
I cant even imagine what the hell they did to make that happen....

My passenger side rear hub is bad. The bearings are completely shot. Anyone got an s5 t2 rear passenger hub with serviceable bearings?
