"A 1998 study showed that the Internet causes declines in social relationships and isolation, similarly to how television causes social disengagement and bad moods. This is the 'Internet Paradox' because while the internet is heavily used for communication, it makes people lonelier. However, a more recent study shows that now the internet has a positive effect on social and psychological well-being. This is even more so for those who have more social support and are extroverted in nature. Interestingly, frequent Internet use is associated with a decline in local knowledge and interest in living in the local area."

Myk: it's pretty easy to figure out which wire you want... just look at the original diagram for the car and find the wire that goes to the fuel pump relay (not the relay resistor) and you're set.

I have so many things to do and so much code to write, that I'm going to be busy for the next month. I don't even have time to help Jason with his cars, and we live in the same house!

Bad news: My doctor just put me on disability so as soon as I get off work tonight, 4 weeks of physical therapy and pain management before the next evaulation.

Good news: I'm not allowed to go to work for 4 weeks minimum. I can actually spend a little time doing something besides work. Maybe even get some stuff done on the car.

Joey: I expect you to do some work on the 7. If you need help with **** lemme know. I'll probably be too fed up with both my project cars regularly and need someone elses project to work on.

Haha! I can't believe this thread is still going. Maryland guys are pimp.

I've been wondering something. the intake ports. Would it be better to round out the edges or square them off. (I already know about the seal wear issue) I would think rounded would be best at high rpms. What do maryland guys think of this shenanigan?

And I'm also wondering if anyone is running ethanol here. E85

And finally, check out this ****. http://www.regtech.com/

I will be soon, but I have to work scheduling out with my wife. All of her friends missed the last one.

Depends on my schedule. I'm going to be in PT and not sure how often, plus pain management for this means basically epidural injections, right into the disc. Had it done before, and it's no fun, nor will I be in the shape to do a hell of a lot. Plus the more work I do, the higher the price of the car if I find a buyer

Rouded ports, in general, tend to be better for street applications, and _usually_ flow better overall. Just like cutting the square intake ports of an older head's intake ports into a D shape. The intake ports can be beveled (I do on my porting jobs) but it's not as important as making sure the exhaust port has a 2mm bevel.

Come check out my eth setup sometime. It's not for E85, it's for E-whatever. E 0 to E 100

well i finally got all my stuff moced into my place. Tofuball helped me with my couch and loveseat (found out the holes in the couch were from a mouse that was living in it. he popped out last night while we were watching tv) now its on to unpacking my stuff. soon as i get it decently cleaned up...i'll invite people over for a real hang out night.

I still have to get my cable fixed. some $*@%nut cut the main feed to my suite and the cable installer couldnt fix it. i have to schedule an install crew to come out and dig up the ground to fix it. god knows how long till i have cable and for that matter internet access. i would piggyback wireless but the only wireless that i can pick up is insanely low signal and is protected (damn smart people).

on the plus side, i got my new comp parts coming today to get my main computer back up and running. also some work on the supra i gotta do. driveshaft is making noises when starting car cold.

I'll have some stuff to sell as it becomes available.

for those that havent checked yet, I'm moving the fudds meet that is scheduled for SUNDAY Sept 17th to the Red Robin which is right around the corner from Fudds. Directions are in the normal thread for the meet. figured a change in venue would be greatly appreciated, specially how good the food at red robin is (mmmmmm.......alcohol)

Send me a PM.

I work for comcast, I might be able to help you on my day off, if you live close enough.

What's up with the Virginia call center not able to provision a modem...

No, I don't want to download your shitty software from your website. Yes, the MAC address is blah blah blah... Reboot and go.

That's how I've set up a bunch of cable modems. For some reason, I can't get my mother's running. I've been through three calls.

Damn your company. *shakes fist* Too bad it's the only game in town for me.

they dont exatly have the brightest minds working callcenters. if they were bright...they would be technicians upgrading the service.just be glad that the callcenter reps broke the habit of asking "Would you like fries with that?"

Better yet, tell them you want cable service..and you want it SUPERSIZED

It's time for another round of WTF???

Comcast cable internet service:

6 mbit for 42.95 a month
8 mbit for 52.95 a month
16 mbit for 42.95 + 10.00 = 52.95 a month

and there is no mention of "prefered service" anywhere on the comcast website. they list the 8mbit as an upgrade pretty much. you dont see the 16 mbit one until you go to sign up for the service.

nev mind. figured it out

i remembered that comcast bought Powerboost technology that will let the connection burst up to double the bandwidth meaning a 6mbit will hit 12mbit and 8 will hit 16mbit. this only affects download. upload is still at 768k. then i read on further and discovered there are areas of service that offer true 16/1 mbit service (dont know if the powerboost service runs on this too with ?32? mbit down). im getting the 16 mbit anyway

I get 16 down, 1 up, for free. =)
...without this new "powerboost" thing they're talking about on the radio.

They've had a "speed teir" option for a few years at least.
It was usually hidden in the fine print, burried within the website.
It used to be you pay like $6 a month more to get the next teir.
Like 6 instead of 4, or 8 instead of 6.
Depending on the currently offered speeds in that area.
I don't know if the price changed.

In AA county, the normal speeds are currently 8 megabits down for normal users, and 16 Mb down for speedteir users (and maybe users with the wireless home networking service). It can get tricky though because they have countless rate codes for different ways of setting up your account. Which they can use to limit you to lower speeds, like 4 or 6 Mb.
