yeah, that's how the help desk I used to work for was, they were firing all the people that actually knew what they were doing.

they ended up firing my for retarded reasons, I don't really mind though, I'm just working at my fairly high paying computer job in georgetown next semester from school via vpn lol. I think I might go back and rub it in my old bosses face...

Here's the deal...

The customer is always an idiot, or at least you can safely assume they're an idiot because they're calling someone else to solve their mundane and easily corrected problem.

Intelligent people usually like to associate with other intelligent people. They do not like to hang around primates. There's only so much computer work one can get done while the customer is there throwing feces and swinging from trees... The intelligent tech will snap and kill someone, or at least swear loudly for a while.

The solution is to bring in idiots that are on par with the customer. They feel comfortable with their species. They won't mame the customer and are more docile. Unfortuantely, problems don't easily get solved by idiots.

However customer's aren't too pleased when they're being beaten with a rolled up newspaper either. And happy customers keep giving your company the moneys, so they kinda have an obligation to keep them happy but returning rather than solve the problem effectively.

There's a slight problem though. People have wised up. The tech worker population here has realized they're working with idiots and demanded more money. We've had to import idiots from India and Thailand. (Note where your call goes when you call tech support. :p )

The only people left here working tech are masochists. Dealing with idiots, corperate rules saying you can't hurt the idiots, and low pay... Can't deny it.

no, I'm just driving it for the weekend

we traded cars because he needed a high gas mileage 4 seater.

the diff mount isn't all that bad, the hot start issue sucks a whole lot lol, and the gas mileage is making me cry, but other than that, it's pretty nice to be driving a TII again

I need to get mine running... I really miss it now lol

Hey guys, I'm working on swapping a blown FC motor with a (hopefully) working one. I was wondering if I can borrow the 52mm socket that I need fo rthe flywheel, as the replacement motor was on an automatic and I have a manual. If someone would like to physically come over and help, that would be great, but if not I just need the socket, and breaker bar if possible. I'd like to do this tomorrow or Wednesday. I asked the SoMD guys, but they're slower than a Geo Metro running on 2 out of 3 cylinders.

Pele you make a good point.. cuz alot of older people think the tower is the modem.. and its hard to even try to teach them a lil something when they swear they know what they are talkin about..

I mean "do you want me to bring my modem in?".. i'm like "No, bring in your tower.. That big thing were all the wires are connected to.."

its gets rediculous on what you hear there.. but uh.. i would like to get a better tech job.. anyone out there know a place that's hireing? wit training included.. :-D

I've got A+ certification which is a joke. I have CCNA training and decided not to wast my money on the CCNA certification test, nor to continue with my Network Engineering and Network Admin associates in applied sciend degrees. (I'm one credit away from both.)

There ARE NO TECH JOBS... Period. The IT industry is gone.

If you're into tech, you can make a mundane $15 an hour or you can get a Security Clearance... Even then, you need some crazy database admin certification or experence with something hardcore like Oracle or something...

**** all that.

Hate to disagree with you, but I'm in IT and have a Clearance. The market is there, true not the way it used to be. Only thing I have right now is my four years of AF and to be honest I guess I was at a good place to get out.

It's not so much the IT industry is gone, it's just being saturated. People are looking for specific skill sets more and more now. A+ is nothing, true... but CCNA's, Network Engineering (pretty much what I do, as well as "system" engineering) can get you pretty decent pay. Network Admin will land you, normally, in a help desk type posisition.

The biggest thing where we live is that it's almost paramount to have a clearance to get a "good" IT job, and it's a bitch to get one.

Funniest thing I've read in a while... because it's true.

I was at Comp Usa for something and was hovering around the area where costomers pickup their fixed computers. The customer was giving the tech grief and the tech was as calmly as possible explaining what he did and why and how to prevent the problem again. The customer still giving the guy grief.

When he finilly left I asked the tech how hard it was to keep from slamming customers heads into the counter. He didn't really say anything, but just gave a crazy smile.

Yep, and without being a veteran, even after you get a clearance, you still won't get a job based on your points. Right now, being a disabled veteran with a clearance is ******* MONEY.

Right now they only hand out clearances on Tuesdays... Which means they are so backed up that it's months ... to sometimes years before people are getting their clearance. No companies are sponsoring anymore.

I don't think it's that hard to get one... the only reason I'm stuck making $15/h is because I don't have a degree.... there are people doing the same thing as me making 50 and 60k right out of college.

Call the selling agent. I knocked part of the comission off by cutting my agent out of the picture.

Of course she had no recourse because she dropped off the face of the Earth for a week with no notice and refused to negociate contracts that I wanted.

i found location and i got a 95% idea of equipment that should be gotten. looks like my biggest hurdle will be getting the fundage to start it. i already looked at gamin sponsorship and stuff like that and found ways to get discounted hardware/software. i also need info from anyone whos actually started a retail business or helped in it as towards what do i legally need to have (business license, tax registration, insurance, other...)

i might even be able to sell some advertising for the other local establishments.
