haha illl defiantely be on the look out for you, im usually driving around severna park from 6:30- 7:30am, and 2:00- 10:00pm (non school hours) and alot in the afternoons on the weekends. if you go past the ranger station on Earliegh Heights (on the other side of Ritchie from the fire station) between 2:00-6:00pm during the week, im almost ALWAYS parked across the street from the skateshop. if you spot me on light street though ... im probably going pretty damn fast so watch out, since thats a dead road no one uses and i know the only cop that lives on it.

p.s. - you think you could fix the cable at my house?

Im kinda new to this forum but it's cool theres a bunch of rx's in MD. I live in Bowie where every car that can be souped up, is. I've had some trouble with mine starting, i need some new oil coolant lines for my 85 GSL-SE, but soon it should be hummin. When do you guys meet up?

Anyone like to fix other people's cars? haha.

Hi, back from lurking for about 2 years. Happy new year!

Can anyone recommend a reputable shop near Silver Spring, MD that could either

(a) rebuild my automatic transmission (yeah, yeah -- need to rule it out at least)
or
(b) do the whole conversion to a manual for me
?

I don't really have the time, space, or talent to do it myself. Doing it cheap would be preferred but doing it *right* is more important.

Thanks for any tips! Car is a 1990 convertible with auto trans.

 

Hah, yeah.. I go down that road a lot, that cop car always has me paranoid.. sometimes a different county cop will sit in the parking lot near that house, I think there's a pub or something there.

I've never noticed a 7 parked near the skate shop though. I'll keep an eye open. I've been routed in Pasadena more than Severna Park recently, been busy installing the phone services instead of doing service calls every day. I still usually come back down Ritchie Hwy because half of my team works in Severna Park, Arnold and Annapolis (north of the City).

 

the cop by the barn is Kurt, is only works nights and sleeps during the day. the pub is actually Listmans, a really old general store. the listmans own all of that property and are our landlords for the skateshop at the end of the road. they are real cool (really redneck though) as long as you dont **** around and do doughnuts and ****.

the white county cop car at the end of light street (towards East West) lives there, i dont know him though. i always make sure i slow down to at least 60-70 when cars pass the other way, and i make sure im down to at least 50 or less before the cops house is in view.

its a perfect road though. its dead strait, probably a mile long, a little hilly, and theres rarely cars on it. i drive up and down it probably 5-6 times a day, so i know it like the back of my hand.

if you plan on going fast on that road, just be careful, make sure the radar decetor is on, and keep watch for any thing in the distance. DONT **** around on the two roads it connects though (Earliegh Heights and East West) because the cops WILL get you there. all those roads are 35s but seem like 45s or 50s, so watch out. I got nailed on Ritchie for doing 62 in the 45 zone (which is bullshit cause i wasnt goin that fast anyway) and he wrote me 3 tickets totalling over $800... so dont **** around on Ritchie either haha.

I know where two of those places are.

The first one is on Rt.1 and has this cool musical note shaped neon light in the front window. The 3rd one is down the street from my workplace.

I'd hit up craigslist or the classifieds... Or I know a guy named Carlos. Carlos has sold me all of my cars for either $1000 or $1500... Though they needed work. Still, decent values for their time and each has lasted me over a year with decent care, and about equal abuse.

Welcome! I had to replace my coolant lines a year ago. Racing Beat has good quality braided stainless - my mechanic told me the fit was very good. They're a pain to get to though.

 

there used to be a guy on the forum that did it. his name is silverrotor. he used to have a sticky in the for sale section, I don't know if he still does it anymore though.

it you go to rotaryresurrection.com sometimes he'll have all the equipment to do it lying around, you could email him to see. as for the shop, I'm sure if you someone can recommend one that would do it if you have all the stuff. I don't really know any shops. (which is why my car has been broken for like a year lol)


EDIT: now that I think about it, tofuball (guy who lives close) probably as all the stuff to do a manual tranny swap too. pm him

the rx-01 was a concept car they came out with in '95, it's different than the cosmo

 

 

Heh, I rarely have my 7 out that way anymore and my work van has trouble getting above 70 so I'm not too worried.

I drove by the skate shop today, saw a few people out front, didn't have time to stop, didn't see a 7 parked nearby but might have seen a miata. What do you drive?

I think one of the guys waved.. kind of late, not sure.. I kept going. =P

 

aw damn i didnt get there until like 6:30 today! the miata is also mine (well my moms technically) but her boyfriend is driving it for now until his car gets fixed.

i drive a white FD, i usually park right were you see the miata at.

you wouldnt have happen to of been in an acura TL like a beige color? if it was, then that was me that was waving! but you would have seen my car i think.

 

nope, my 7 is my only car, and I'm usually always in the work van when I'm in Severna Park.

Hey people, my name is Heath and i am getting my first 7 today. its a 85 gsl se. look about as old as it is. I am gonna use her mostly for commuting to and from work, but it looks like a fun car as well, and who can leave well enough alone...not I ..for sure. So i will be calling onothers to help straighten her out and running great. I live in Lusby MD which is just across the river from Patuxent river NAS. Is there anyone in southern MD that would like to hang out and show around the car some? Until this weekendi have only owned Dodges , mostly. My very first car was a 81 Mazda 626, burned up the first week i had it. since then i havent ever had a Jap car actually cursed them. but i am now willing to work with this car to get it right. i believe in second chances.
