Wow, so I learned something about Miatas recently....
Almost everyone that i've driven by with one has gone out of their way to catch up with me for the "Miata Wave".... lol, i've gotten so many thumbs up and handwaves on my commute that it's really made me comfortable with my decision to get one....
Miata owners.... They're what the RX-7 community should have been....

I guess that's why I like my '06... lol, looks small as hell like the FB, but there's plenty of space inside.... The seats are snug enough to feel like aftermarkets, and it's got a very linear torque curve..... You always have plenty of power available to you without having to go too far over the 3K mark.... It's kinda like my 240SX in FB form
And i'm not saying the WHOLE 7 community isn't the type to wave, but here in VA there's just too many rotary owners that don't have a damn clue what they're driving.... lol, I haven't met a Miata owner yet that doesn't know what their car was about, from what I can tell....
16 years makes quite a difference in cars, I was looking at some of the 06's last weekend they're almost big compared to the first gens, which you have to rev the **** out of the 1.6L to get any power - thats kinda half the fun though

the ae86 once I'm done with it probably won't have good torque until 5000 rpms, and I should be able to push that to 9000 rpms while still making decent power... I can't wait to get it done though.Ken

Anyway, as a comment on that article:
I don't belive that a company with the kind of design theory that Ford has shown since almost the begining, is capable of raising the quality of its products. I mean, I just look at the way any given Ford is assembled and I can tell that the engeneers only thought was "How can we do this for as cheep as possable and get away with it?"
I mean, the name "Ford" has become synonymous with "Recall" for quite some time.
And just because they dont recall it doesnt mean it's not crap! It just means that its not life threataning! I mean, most of their cars have massive flaws that they try and cover up (My favorite being the heads on the Triton engines, being that only four threads hold each sparkplug, they have issues with the plugs blasting out of the head. It's a $3000 to $5000 repair, but Ford refuses to cover it based on the fact that "Spark Plugs arent covered under Warentee")
And do you even know anyone who's owned a Ford Taurus where EVERY SINGLE THING HASNT BROKEN? (not counting the SHO, for some reason, a few of them seem to run OK)
"The recall comes as Ford is trying to stem steep losses in its North American division and to improve the overall quality of its products."
