Maryland guys!
Julian and I are going to put a roll-cage in the hachi, and we are trying to figure out if it's more cost-effective for us to buy a welder and TIG-weld it ourselves, or to take it to a shop...
Anyone know of any shops in the area that do this sort of thing?

It's YOUR project car.
Anyone can dump money on a shop, but how many people can say "I biult this!"
Thats the whole reason I work on my cars, because I love the work. The end result is nice, but the journy is what makes the car!

I could weld it myself, I'm just not sure I want to spend the $1800+ for the welder and equipment, then spend even more money for materials, and all the time it would take to weld it.... If letting someone else do it costs the same as or less than getting a welder I'll probably just let someone else do it.
That said, my original question still stands... does anyone know of any shops that do this sort of thing?

Its time for my 4cents.
As to your welding problems I just wanted to point this out, don't know if it'll help you but here it is. Welding equipment for $100.

Yeah you need a 21mm and a 24mm( I believe) open end wrench, one on the line and one on the fitting. Hold the fitting and turn the line off.

If I weld up tranny mounts or something and the welds are contaminated or somehow fucked up, the tranny falls out, I roll the car to the side of the highway, call up some someone and come back later with the truck to tow it and fix the **** later.
If my roll cage is fucked and I flip the car, I don't have the luxury of a mulligan.
Then there's the **** that I know full well how to do, but needs special equipment that I can't afford. Tire mounting, balancing, and alignments are some of those.
