the mini-tierods might not be necessary. i can get the same style lip-splitter from STI for my wagon and they don't have it. probably because the width of spitter that protudes out isn't large enough to dip down and start to pull itself off the bumper.

i have my s4 bumper in the garage. you can use some paper or cardboard and mark the holes. just find someone that has a s5 laying around and repeat the process. even if you don't make the holes in the splitter, you can indicate what "set" of holes are needed to be made.. so: "if you have a s4, drill out the square stickers while if you have a s5, drill out the circle stickers or if you have something totally custom, disregard all the stickers"

get a presilencer from BORLA, then have them weld it into the mid pipe - bet one money can buy - ask blueskaterboy - it's quieter than when he had a catalytic converter on for emisions

we found out what was making my car buck like crazy and let a bunch of unwanted air in. I blew out three caps under the throttlebody the first time I boosted. The 4th cap looked good so we buttoned it back up and second time we boosted we got the same thing. So either I busted the 4th cap or blew off the three new ones we put on. I think I am just going to crush them with pliers and then tac weld them closed.

 

Thats not saying much, a catalytic converter tends to be only slightly less noisy then a streightpipe :p

I'm interested in seeing it!


If I were you, I'd drill them all out and put set screws with loctite(tm) in them Much cleaner then the crush/weld method Or just use small bolts, but I like using set screws for stuff cuz they mount flush :p

Just to let you know the events of the morning (with non-geek speak added):
1) the thermal control system (radiator) on the auditory conveyence apparatus
(the bus) failed to contain its specified vapor pressure (sprung a leak) at
approximately GMT-05-288-06:50 ( 12:50 am this morning ).
2) Attempts by the principal operator (me) during the afternoon hours of
GMT-05-288 (9am-10am this morning) to determine the failure mode (find the
leak) were met with success (I found it).
3) Two options were determined from the fault-tree analysis:
a) repair the thermal control system aqueous chamber (radiator)
b) replace said chamber (buy a new one)
4) Since the chamber is an out-of-budget item, it was determined to attempt
option 3.a (try to fix it) before a replacement was specified.
5) Utilizing a C3H8 chemically driven thermal-induction device (blowtorch) and
pb-free silver solder nominally utilized for repair and construction of aqueous
delivery system in a domicile (plumbing solder), together with the
appropriately specified Zinc-Chloride to aid the wetting and formation of
intermetallic alloy regions in the interfaces between adjoining surfaces
(Oatey NSF-61) (flux), a repair attempt was made.
6) Operating the above specified auditory conveyence apparatus (bus) in an
Ethylene Glycol deprived state (the anti-freeze was low) in order to more
rapidly induce an elevated thermal situation (get it hot faster), and utilizing
an aqueous and evaporative thermal-reduction technique
(running the hose on the radiator and blowing on it with a box fan), the system was thermally cycled in
a stationary situation (ran while sitting in the driveway). Apparent success
was obtained after 3 tries.
7) The above specified auditory conveyence apparatus (bus) thermal control
system (radiator) was then reloaded with an appropriate mix of ethylene glycol
and di-hydrogen-oxide (anti-freeze and water) to the levels specified in the
operations control manual (owner's guide).
8) An appropriate test of the auditory conveyence apparatus (bus) was conducted
at loads and conditions approximating nominal operation (I drove it around the
block).
9) Subsequent inspections show the thermal-control system (radiator) no longer
exhibited the failure mode (it worked).
10) The auditory conveyence apparatus (bus) is now available for continued use
(you can drive it).

It is hoped that this gives the target audience (you) a sufficient description
of activities necessary to correct the observed failure mode(fix the leak).
Requests for additional detail can be remitted to the contracting authority (I
don't want to hear about this any more!).
