I'd have to say that'd count as soulmating, since if the divine source of all says things are perfect for you two to marry, there must be some sort of purpose or connection involved that was meant to happen.... Just my opinion, though...

We have a deck now!

Well it's taken over a month for the guys we hired to do in their free time, but it's finally "almost" finished. The first shots are from today. You can see the missing handrail on the steps and you can see the pad where the hot tub is going to be in a couple weeks (it's on order). Our A/C unit had to be moved and that guy showed up once the deck was half-way built so you can see it before and after.

I'll post a couple progress pics too, from the last couple weeks. You'll see my wife couldn't wait to order furniture and use it (tons of furniture, too). They're also going to build a section of fence at the end of the concrete pad.

Progress pics:

Insurance discount. Isn't that why everyone gets married?

when one claims "god said it was the right thing," i would disagree.

i'm curious to see Jason's reasoning behind getting married, if spirituality/his soul has had no part in it...

The problem with marriage today is that "end of thier days" means whenever you get tired of the other person or want half their stuff or something... Or one finds another more well endowed partner...

Regardless, "till death do you part" should be reworded as "till divorce paperwork is signed do you part"...

Sanctity of marriage indeed... But I guess if it's just between a man and a woman...

lol, this one ought to be good...

Yeah... I'm waiting on this one.

and that, i'm afraid, is why i've been engaged more than once. it seems like once the guy sticks a ring on my hand, that gives him license to go screw around on me.

i'm waiting for quite a while(read: a few years) after meeting someone before i'm willing to commit that far...to do any less, in my opinion is downright stupid.

but that's just me and my experiences.

God told me to. TONS of reasons.

But I was complete before marrage, nothing to complete.

If that is what you call soulmating, then sure.

But from all the things I've heard about "Soulmate," it causes me to define it differently. It has connotations that I can't really agree with. It's not exactly a biblical idea.

lol, ok... Whatever you say, amigo... I'll even avoid going back to the whole Adam and Eve sharing a rib part and just let it go... I think you're sadly mistaken, however...

The word "soulmate" has many definitions, no clear cut one... It could mean anything from feeling that you and your partner have been together in previous lives (reincarnation) to just having strong spritual ties with someone.

I'd suggest you do some research on the word yourself, don't just go by hearsay... :P

agreed. technically, Jason, you do subscribe to the "soulmate" theory - why else would your god tell you to get married?

are you sure it was your god, and not mere temptation telling you to tie the knot? [/devil's advocate]

temptation was the reason i got married. or i should say the reason we got together in the first place...her getting pregnant was the reason we got married. that and the fact that we actually like eachother helps

lol @ wedlock

Hey, at least it ended up working for you two. I know many other couples that ended their relationships when that sort of thing happens

And thanks for your statement, since your reasoning is just another example of why my 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 statement is true...

You had lust, but no partner... Likewise for herself... You two got together and tapped the **** out of each other, provided yourselves an offspring and now you're married... "An absence now filled"

I rest my case.

Start a new thread on it :P

Hearsay is how words are defined

You're arguing semantics now :P

The generally accepted meaning of the word "Soulmate" around me, from the people I have spoken with, is not just "having strong spiritual ties with somone" It's more of a "been together in previous lives" and a "we met on the astral plane".

Strong spiritual ties with somone isnt a soulmate, otherwise I'd have a lot of soulmates. Should I be calling Aryeh my soulmate, or my funk soul brother, right about now?

Here were my choices. I could:

1) Revert to my old life and have sex with whatever girl was chained to my bed that day
2) Continue to enjoy being single (I was really loving it at that point, I really didnt want to get married, or even be in a relationship)
3) Have sex with the woman and not marry her (temptation was there)
4) Marry her and be stuck with her FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE (God was pointing to this one)

I dont think sex was the motive :P

As opposed to your statements earlier regarding my 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 comment? lol

Generally accepted? I just said that there was no set definition, hence why you should do your own research on the word...

Wiki states:
Soulmate (or soul mate) is a term sometimes used to designate someone with whom one has a feeling of deep affinity, friendship, love, strong intimacy, sexuality, or compatibility.

A related concept is that of the twin flame or twin soul - thought to be the ultimate soulmate, the one and only other half of one's soul, for which all souls are driven to find and join.

However, not everyone who uses these terms intends them to carry such mystical connotations; they are sometimes used simply as an expression of strong emotional feeling for someone.

Doing your own research is fundamental

Your friends sound like they need to get off the hippie train... lol

Perhaps so, given the definition I just gave you, "soul brotha"

And you chose option #4 I'd assume, which leads right back to my earlier comments. lol

Again, I rest my case.

PS. You might want to describe your marriage in a bit of a happier tone next time. Making it sound like God forced you into being stuck with her for the rest of your life doesn't sound too nice...

1 - i'm not glad they're doing it. i'd have to be a fool to be happy the man i thought i was going to marry was, in fact, cheating.
2 - i thanked her for telling me...it made things quite a bit easier on my end, and explained his behavior.
