Good Shop

Hey everyone. I have a 93 RX7 that has been sitting in the garage for a couple years. I want to take it to a decent shop to get it looked at and hopefully get it up and running again. Does anyone know a good shop in the Northern Va area?

Virginia Beach, Angel Motorsport. But I do have a guy on Fairfax county, he is just too busy with his race car

The only thing I would trust a shop to do around here is an oil change, and I'd be a little nervous even about that. IMO if you need any mechanical work done, IR Performance in NJ is the place to go. It's a drive, but you're car will be in good hands.

What do you need done? I'd be happy to come over and offer some advice if you are anywhere near Arlington

I second what Tom has said about IRP. The finished up my car back in January and I am slacking getting it ready for the power tune. It has been rock solid since I picked it up.

Anyone around here have any interest in my FB or GT6? I've got my eye on something in the for-sale section and need to make some room. It's bargain time till the object of interest sells.

Matt, 25 year rule at end of year opens up some new ideas. Let's just say it's cheaper to buy one modified then upgrading mine...

Tom,
I can give you all the details your heart desires if you're interested. Most of the other guys have seen my cars before so I was looking to shortcut having to do a full write-up. But here is some info to wet your appetite.

You can click on the FB in my signature to see how it looked when I bought it. I added a second seat and harness for a passenger and painted it Firebelly Orange Plastidip. Basically it is a ex-spec7 racecar that I've been using for autocross. There are a bunch of parts that will convey as well. It's a solid, cheap racer that has my favorite clutch/shifter of any car I've driven. A whole lot of fun, just very basic.

The GT6 is another story. Ford mustang 302 estimated at 400 hp by the engine builder and ~2000 lbs total makes it quick. Scary quick. Every time I drive it I feel like; this might be the day it kills me. Needs stickier tires and some suspension refinement (oversprung for driving on the road) but with those, it will be a monster. Full custom metal body & frame rework, roll bar, custom gauge set, C4 Corvette suspension and brakes, manual brakes with balance bar and dashboard mounted fine tune balance adjuster, fuel cell, power cut out. The build is ~10+ years old so it isn't fresh, but I've replaced most of what it needs. Last thing is to fix the coolant overflow tank that isn't mounted high enough and isn't large enough either.

I'm on my phone so not sure how to add photos, but I can email them if. I can't figure it out.

Drool... That one's pretty, but the one I have my eye on would make you excited to have some serious 7 competition again.

Random nobody popping his head in, but by chance does anyone of a rotary compression tester? PCSing and have to sell the FD, did a check with a autozone piston compression tester but I know they are pretty crappy and don't want to give someone false information. Thanks!

I'm signed up for CDC next Saturday at blue crabs stadium. Not sure if I'm driving the FB or the GT6 yet but either will be fun. Sign up and join in!

I'm registered for the CDC event next weekend as well. So it would make sense that today I started a big project on the FD without having all the right parts in-hand :/

I plan on going to at least one CDC event this year. Having a baby really takes up a lot of time!!!! I just have to finish a couple minor things before going, i.e. get the rear brakes to work.
