DC Area thread - The District, NoVa, Maryland
Seen you Sunday around noon coming back @LaraS assuming from another car meet? :P
2 of my cars are in Gainesville LOL

So this is a shot in the dark.... does anybody local have a short shifter for the FD transmission for sale?
I'm shipping the tranny I picked up from Ian off to Liberty for a rebuild/upgrade on Saturday. Paul, their rx7 guy, said that if I include my shifter he could make sure it's all smooth and happy. The hitch is that my FD itself (and my shifter) are at the shop in California
I leave for SC on Tuesday and won't be back until Thanksgiving.

If you do that would be awesome! I need to get this tranny in the mail before the post office closes on Saturday so I'd be by in the am for it. I'll also talk with the shop today and see if they can just pull the shifter from my car and mail it separately to Liberty, that might actually be the best way to go about it.

Same here, I have a Gotham racing B&M style i have for sale you can use, but as noted they may be different from what you are using so i would have the shop mail your actual unit out on your behalf to make sure that thing shifts well.
So it turns out that the Post Office gets a bit intimidated when you walk in there with a tranny on a homemade half pallet.
Who'da thunk it?
I had to find a freight terminal to get my spare tranny (thank you for that Ian!!) shipped off to Liberty. Hopefully this one is more robust than stock!!

It cost me like $155 to ship from Manassas (YRC Freight, right near the old DMV where 234 and 28 meet) and it's supposed to arrive at Liberty Gears on Thursday.
I just made a little half-pallet cradle and strapped it in with ratchet straps. I drilled two holes for the rear bolt/mounts to fall into place in. I figured that would ensure it won't slide around while also providing a placement guide.
I just threw it together with some 2x4's left over from a project I started but never finished.
@fendamonky dang it man. I shipped one in boxes and foam board for like $80 or $90 To CA through fed ex a fee years ago. It was a bit lighter being a N/A (R series?) trans but it was pretty easy.
I used a 4x8 sheet of aluminum faced 2” foam board and packed it in two moving boxes.
