Dyno Tuning Co-ordination

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kan tells me these tuning events can be hectic and anything can happen. He also tells me tuning a car can take 1+ to 2+ hours. So to make this event more productive it might be wise if you guys give me a contact phone number so I can communicate with you and get you in and out with less downtime. Bart at HiTech does not want to stay late Saturday if the dyno is not kept busy during the core hours.

So the guys scheduled later in the day Saturday shold be available if we can get you in and if not I can contact you as to what's happening.

I plan on being there all day even after my car hopefully is tuned. I was to fly to TX Saturday, but Kan called Friday night and was having problems with electrical on my car, MSDs and Racelogic Traction Control. So he told me to come on the 23rd. I have a flight for this Saturday and hopefully car will be ready.

Due to time contraits he cut me back from three MSDs to one as one was burned out and he says he found the Traction Control problem.

Anyways if you want to e-mail me your contact #s feel free to luv94rx7@aol.com

Hopefully we will have nice weather and a productive event..

Thanx,

Ken

Is this dyno available on Sunday? I know I'd rather have my car tuned on a load based dyno or street tuned. For some reason Gotham's own website says Steve prefers street tuning to dynoing and I'm not really concerned with the power I'm making, I just really want to retain as much driveability as possible.

Hey, Mills, I'm checking with LSE Performance (probably 5 miles from HITech) about using their Dyno Dynamics dyno either Saturday or Sunday. We used it in June for our mini test day. Nice guys and a load based dyno. If I can't get it to work out I'll probably do street tuning too, although I would greatly prefer not to.

Let me know if you're potentially interested.

Can someone clarify please... which dyno are we for sure going to be at? Or do we get a choice? I would prefer whichever one provides the closest comparison to street tuning as this is not a WOT drag car.

LSE-Performance is a awd dyno. It is 11 miles from Hi-Tech and cost $120/hr for 2+hours booked.

If GOOROO and others want to have their cars dyno tuned there instead of Hi-Tech please let me know so I can change my schedule. It would be good for me to get all the cars dyno-tuned at Hi-Tech on Saturday and the rest could get there cars Dyno-tuned at this other site on Sunday. If GOO ROO wants to set something up with LSE-Performance feel free. I'm figuring Dyno Tech costs less and is good enough for me.

I figure if on dyno for 2 hours it will be $150 at Hi-Tech if we are there for at least 8 hours and the other would be $240.

http://www.lse-performance.com/dynomain.html

I hope enough people decide to go LSE-Performance on Sunday so we don't have to ask Hi_tech to come in on Sunday.

Thanx,

Ken

Thanks Ken, that's what I was hoping to work out. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes or anything but I would greatly prefer the load based dyno. If LSE can do it Sunday then it might work out well. I contacted LSE yesterday and I'm calling them again today to iron out details, but I agree 100% that it would be best to go one day at each to keep it simple. If anyone else is interested in LSE just let me know. I'll also post the any information I get here.

Also, the fact that the dyno is AWD really doesn't do anything for us, either positive or negative. They just turn off the set of wheels that aren't being driven. You guys probably know that already, but I didn't the first time I went.

Hey Andrew,
There are no added benefits of using the load base dyno vs. an inertia dyno. The only thing that a load base dyno could do is that it'll allow you to maintain the rpm and holds it there under different load conditions. it does help speed up the process of tuning driveability over the inertia dyno but I don't think the extra $ to pay for using the dyno is worth doing it. If you want to give me that extra money to make sure your driveability is good, I'm more than happy to take it instead.

GooRoo... whatever you work out, I'll follow your lead as I'd rather go first thing Sunday vs. evening Saturday and if load-based accelerates the time to mimic street-based load conditions I'm all for it.

Additional Tunee

There is another local guy too named Dan who wishes to tune his car as well.

He has already been in contact with Steve.

Basically, he wants Steve to check his car out first and opine as to whether or not it's reliable enough to be tuned. His idle is a little rough and he thinks he may have internal damage.

So again, one more person who would likely wish to tune who may not be accounted for on the list.

As it turns out, LSE is unavailable for tuning that weekend, as they have a race in Iowa. I have one more option I'm exploring, but that isn't looking likely for Sunday either. I will update everyone when I find out concrete information.

Either way I can tune Sunday. I may pm you again Ken about Hi-Tech. Were they opposed to being open Sunday?

GooRoo,

http://dbperformancetuning.com/

I called these guys first, they have the dyno you want to use and they are available on Sunday when I talked to him. I went with Hi-Tech because they were cheaper and closer.

You might give them a call.

GooRoo, to be honest, I'd rather go to Rogers as it's much easier to get on/off the highway and with my smoking issue... be a lot less stop and go driving to deal with. The difference in cost is so minor, it's not like we're talking about 1K or more so whatever works best is fine.

Let me know if you are going to or if I should call on this. We're looking at like 4 people for sure, correct? So probably about 6 hours or so?

Yeah, the DB Performance people are the ones I already called. Supposedly they are going to make sure they are available and give me a call back.

I left you a voice mail so you're already on top of it. Cool. I got directions and I used to live just across the highway from them and know exactly where it is, which would be a much better option location-wise than Anoka.

If you need a deposit or whatever let me know and I'll help right away to secure it as mine will probably take a couple hours alone so that should meet any minimum time requirements they may have.

The DB Performance people are available, so I told them we will be there at noon on Sunday. (If we need to we can go earlier as well)

I have 3 people on the dyno for sure:
Turbo3
Rotary4TW
Myself

Plus two people who will tune Sunday, but not use the dyno:
Damian
Mills

Does that sound right Ken/everyone?

I was interested in dynoing at DB but I'm pretty sure I have a stuck side seal in my rear rotor, looks like I may be pulling the motor instead of tuning/dynoing anything next week.
