I found a better dyno shop.

http://www.hitechmotorsport.com/Dyno/

Has dynojet and only 13 miles from my brother's shop the other place was 25 miles and not dynojet.

Prices a lot cheaper too.

$80/hr for first 4 hours and $70/hr for next 4 hours.

hello all from Packerland

i just finished talking to Dan Wolfson at DB Performance Tuning 20998 134th ave N. Rogers, Min... (Ken's suggestion)

i highly suggest anyone having Steve Kan tune his car that you take it off the streets. you will get a much better tune on the dyno plus you won't end up in jail. if you feel real lucky do a bunch 3rd gear pulls to 90 mph+ on Minn streets.

i don't feel that lucky. i also want a better tune.

here's the deal:

dyno is available as long as we need it saturday, saturday night and sunday. $110 per hour billed to the quarter hour. set up time is not charged.

amortize the additional cost over the winter if you need to.... and hang your dyno sheet over the fireplace.

i will be helping Frank as he will be out of town and we will be dynoing both his cars. i may dyno my car. if you are on the steve Kan list please post here if you want to use the dyno.

let's have a fun Dyno Day w Steve.

I'm back in

Howard said he's shepherd my 2 cars up to Steve and the dyno (wherever it is) on Oct. 7-8 and so I'm back in!
4) Frank Bennett 1993 2 Rotor
5) Frank Bennett 1995 3 Rotor
I'm mailing my check to Steve for 2 cars ($400) today so I don't miss out on the best Rx-7 tuner around...

i spoke w Bart Wolf... owner of the second dyno option HiTech Motorsports. they can accomodate us saturday but not sunday. he sounds like he has an excellent dyno facility w lots of cool air being piped in.

if you decide to dyno please post so we can tie the firm it up.

Not bad, got 5-6 cars committed two days after Steve Kan gave me a date. Wonder how many more lucky fellows will get in on this great event. I know Howard from my trip to Green Bay to have my car tuned by Kan a few years ago. He's a great guy and you'll love his car. Custom built big twin turbos. He's very knowledgeable too.

Steve Kan Tune-DYNO DAY oct 7-8 MINN. are you in?????

as many know thru another thread Steve (Stevie Wonder) Kan will be tuning in Minn Oct 7-8th.

if you were to ask Steve whether he could give you a better tune using a dyno rather than hanging on for dear life on the streets guess what his answer would be. plus you get the added benefit of either not ending up in jail (officer the reason i was going 90 in 3rd was that we were, er, tuning....) of maybe just killing someone or wrecking your car.

it's always a long winter so amortize the additional $80 over the next few months while your car is up on jackstands.

whether you are in Minn or Wi come'on over and have steve straighten out your tune.

$350 w $200 upfront gets steve's best efforts and knowing steve you DO get his BEST efforts.

the DynoJet Dyno is $80 for the first 4 hours and $70 thereafter saturday only. non dyno tuning sunday or if there is the demand we can do something dyno-wise.

it will be a good group and maybe we have a drink and a few laughs sat night?

where's Damian and Kevin Wyum? HELLLLOOOOOO?

I'll be in for the next round. I've allready killed 2 trannys on my tune at 15-17psi the past year just on the street. Once i have a solution for the tranny, I'll be in for a big power tune. I still would like to come down and BS.

How do you feel about playing with timing on a Motec Steve? It's very iffy if I'll even have the car together and normally I'd just do the tuning myself but it's been years since I've played with the car other than a week last year. I might just have you do it so I don't have to blame myself : P You okay with a Motec? It'd be using a wide band and two egt's, assuming I get them hooked up in time.

Hey,
I'm definitely in for the dyno tune and the $200 has already been mailed out to Steve earlier today. Looking forward to Oct 7-8 to meet everyone.

I thought this was a good article posted on the web site of the place we will be dynoing.

They have a great reputation. My brother knows about them with his 9 second Dodge drag car.

I checked out HiTech today and we have it reserved.

Bart of HiTech Performance said he would be willing to stay till 7-8 if needed. So we can have it as early as 8:00am till 8:00pm if needed. He also said if the turnout was really big and we needed at least 4 billable hours on Sunday he'd make an exception and see if his guy would come in for us. He hates to make the guy work seven days in a week.

I talked to Kan yesterday and I recommended instead of him driving my car around and putting 500 miles on it and then tuning it for me to pick up that he just loads a map that works and I'll break it in on the way home. I'll wait till our tuning event for him to really tune it. So if that happens it means we have 8 committed.

What is the approximate length of time needed per vehicle?

My thought is do we all need to show up at 8am since he can only do his thing on one vehicle at a time. Therefore, should we consider staging arrival/departure of people so we're all not sitting around (unless you want to be) for the whole day? Should we say, 2 people should plan on arriving approximately every hour so the first group is there at 8, 2nd at 9, and so forth, and that way those that are done can leave if they need or want to?

I would prefer to get there first thing in the morning and be done so I have the rest of the day to do other things if I can bid for it.

We still have to find out Kan's schedule and line up all the cars. I'm expecting more than 8, Damian and Wyum might come and I have three others that are committed if they get there cars ready by the event. The guys like yourself I think can be accomodated. I know Kan takes longer with 3-rotors and we already have three in the mix. One thing is for sure Bart does not want us leaving the dyno idle(unbillable) if he is going to have to stay late and come in on a Sunday.

Those few that want to do tuning on the street will probably have to do it after all the dyno cars are done, which will probably be later Sunday.

We'll coordinate the cars with Kan's input as he will hopefully know the configurations and how difficult they will be.

Welcome to the event.

What kind of power are you expecting. I remember three years ago you were talking about 800rwhp.

I've got turbo problems yet again so I need to push for the builder to look it over and have it back in time for me to bring the car as well.

I've emailed Steve letting him know I'm coming, what I have for EMS, motor, etc. I have no intention of tuning on the street, just on the dyno so if that helps for deciding how we as a group should stage...?

1 bar of boost is the most I'm going with which is well within the range of the turbo max efficiency bubble so at the very most 800 crank HP or approximately 600-700 RWHP but that's all estimation based upon what I've heard other 20B people get in the last couple years from similar setups. However, I'm not concerned about hitting any number in particular, just that it's safe to drive on 92 octane.

My greatest concern is the stock transmission is going to fail, either the gearbox, input shaft splines, or differential so if we have to back off because of that as well, so be it. We can tune later on for higher boost, etc, after the transmission has been upgraded and can handle it, as this setup will be more than enough power for me for a long time.

Aaron will be in the same range as me as our setups are almost identical. From what I've seen of Frank's, I believe his turbo is much smaller than ours but I don't know his intentions for output either. Nevertheless, it will be very interesting to see how each motor performs.

We need to limit this tuning session to approx 10 cars. We can put 2 cars on standby but I don't want to over booked myself.

No send to Steve Kan,

If you're in for sure, go ahead and send your deposit of $200. The rest, $150 paid at tuning time:

Attn: Steve Kan
Gotham Racing
5621 Main Street
Watauga, Tx 76148

Okay your two cars makes about 10 committed cars. Steve I expect about 2-5 more people will be wanting to sign up. Are you saying you can't dyno tyne 15 cars in two days and 20 hours of dyno time????

If that's true then we should schedule you for two weekends if we get more cars like I expect. Can you be at the dyno site by 8:00am on Saturday???

I'm one of the 2-5 people wanting to sign-up but my car's engine is being replaced at the moment so I should have it back from the dealership by next week if I'm lucky.

Judging by the great turnout. A second tuning weekend (last wk of Oct would be good) would be great for me since my engine would be broken-in by then without having to rush things too much.

I'd rather have it tuned here than deal with the drive to TX
