Any assistance would be great, most of these threads are old and outdated with picts and links.
I have some TII parts including spindles, axles, drive shaft and (i think) a spare trans.

I'd say its a rx3 or 4 with the compact front and the hood still lifts back and not up.

Currently car-less - Just traded in my 2006 Mustang GT on a 2003 FX4 Lariat Crew Cab F150. Looking for a new "toy" and have always been a fan of FC's. I'm a software analyst living in Dewitt, IA working in Davenport. Doing as much research as possible before a purchase. However, I may be biting the bullet here soon if there is still a certain car in WI and it is all that it is said to be. Trying to find a TII but am willing to put the work in to swap a N/A over to TII spec.

there is a REALLY nice black FC in IL for 5500 bucks. It would be worth it to just buy that outright, than swap an NA FC. trust me... ive been there before

Oh come on now a TII swap cant be that hard.
Seriously, what is it?

Swap engine in with NA flywheel and starter
Move a couple wires around in harness
Install turbo ECU
Drive car 3 blocks and blow up trans and diff at same time
Buy TII driveline
Install said driveline along with swapping fly/clutch to turbo one along with starter and dont forget to swap those 2 or 3 wires back around
Done

Thats 6 steps man. Easy.

It would appear the one you are talking about is sold. Plus, I'm not looking for a mint car. I'm looking for a car that I don't have to be afraid of beating up.

Nice car and very clean.

Subject change: I was driving down Hickman the other night and I saw a red FD driving east. It had the new led tail lights and some wheels. It looked lowered as well. It looked pretty good driving by. Just thought I would ask to see if anyone knew the guy.

Are there any FC gurus in the Des Moines area? My project is in dire need of a kick in the *** and my current stumbling block is getting all of the vacuum lines properly routed. I'm willing to pay someone to help me get past this. The car is an '86 GXL that I put a S5 keg in and pulled the rats nest. I can't seem to find a straight-forward diagram for where to hook up my lines and want someone that knows the engine better than I do to help me out.

If this link ever updates it should hold the Fuel/Emissions section for S4 RX-7's, there are diagrams in there that might help. If not then I'll try uploading to a different site.

SO why buy a new block if yours only needs tore open and a soft seal kit done? If you port the new one it will need a soft seal kit anyways so it sounds like double spending to me. Could it be something not internal engine related that is leaking coolant?

Well my plan is to tear it down and inspect it and hope for the best but this other block is my last resource.

Personally Im thinking about checking out the turbo to make sure the problem isnt there. It would save a lot of time verifying everything and tracing it to the engine rather than tearing it down and then finding nothing wrong. There is a possibility it is the engine, but worth making sure before you open it and have to throw another soft seal/spring kit into it.

I assume your job has a coolant system pressurizer to test cars for leaks. Maybe you could bring in your turbo and rig it up to see if it leaks internally? Also might be worth checking to make sure your intake mani has those o-rings installed and are good for the coolant passage that runs through it. the intake gasket leak is pretty common on most rotaries. You can buy a 20mm freeze plug and install it into the passage to make sure it doesnt happen again if that is what the issue is. You would of course need to buy a new intake mani gasket (lower mani to block).

If the turbo was bad the motor would run fine, it just wouldn't make any boost. It would more than likely smoke more than Ian does though if the coolant or oil seals were bad in the turbo.

I've seen this car before and you need to address the wiring issues first, the way everything was spliced together looked pretty bad.

I've made my mind up I'm going to get another 7 this summer.

It just depends how much I can save this summer. Ill probably try for a fd. Looking back for what I spent on my wrx's motor setup I could have had a pretty nice fd :-(

Unless I find a really well done fc.
