Hey Iowa IV
Well a little update from me I guess... My motor finally let go about 174k sooooo. I just ordered a JDM STI version 8 motor. It's going to be a fun swap, the jdm motor can rev out to 8.5k and has lots of upgrades over my engine.
on a side note I bought a new toy - a Haltech PS2000

Can do alot of bells and whistle and is even 3 rotor capable.........
I'm going to be busy over this fall/winter when I come back.
The main reason I got the new ECU was due to the fact the e6x has a crappy boost controller feature.
The PS2000 has a much better method.
I was out of outputs with AI/BC/IAC/WG/TT and that was not even using dual fuel pumps (which I think I will need to upgrade).
Couldn't log the things I needed (like fpr) and didn't have great WB capabilty.
Now I can display the AFR in real time and log it in AFR.
It also have greater resolution with a 32x32 map.
Now I have fully looked into a 20b swap and am fully aware of the costs and what is requried for installation.
ECU is generally a large one (usually 2k+) so I might slowly prepare for that path.
But realistically it would be a few years before I got all the other items in place.
Alot of the 20b requirements have to do with supporting mods.
I do have alot of them done already but there are a few I still would need.
Aside from that the largest are the mounts, turbo manifold, and the engine itself. That alone is around 6k O.o
I personally wouldn't do the T56 (I wouldn't be interested in over 500hp) so even a FD twin plate would work fine (the next big purchase I need to make at some point).
The actually swap itself is relatively easy if you have everything in place and buy a decent mount kit.

really? thats too bad. there are at least 2 or 3 places here in Dubuque that sell it. one is a block and a half from my house. im considering running it, but i really havent done enough homework to decide if its really worth it. plus, i take the FD on road trips to chicago often, and there are not any E85 pumps out that way that i know of.
there is a good resource at rest stops that map out E85 actually, CR is the only large city in IA where its hard to find.
honestly aside form that its cleaner, higher octane, and cheaper than reg fuel. If you have a standalone the conversion is easy... highlight fuel curve, multiply by 1.35 and go from there. It lowers EGT's too, only downside is availability and fuel economy. They actually vary the Ethanol content depending on temperature, In the summer when its more like E90-95 the octane rating approaches 120. (they wont do pure ethanol because of cold starting, and to prevent people from drinking it.)

Quinn's engine will be done next Sun hopefully... I do want that iron from you Blade. Gonna have to figure out a time to come get it from you, but for sure Im calling dibs and will get money sent to you here very soon so its paid for.
FB project is still at a stand still. Kinda pisses me off but hey what can you do.
My renters are currently on the way out - moving to South Dakota for different jobs. Soon we will be opening up the whole house so furniture moving is on the horizon. Also bought a new bed so pretty excited about that.

He sent them back to get new ones which is the reason its sat in my garage 1/3 put together waiting on apex seals.
Its official. Engine going together on Sunday. I really hope he actually listens to me when it comes to breaking in his engine. Granted, I didnt break my engine in the way Im telling him to but still.
Does your engine normally make a weird sound when the boost gauge maxes out? I know you said not to boost it but I JUST CANT HELP MYSELF!!! lol
Soon man, calm down.
Soon man, calm down.
CALM DOWN!!!! I CAN'T!!!!! Just kidding, I'm calm dude I won't be down til Saturday morning to pick it up playa.
Letting those of you that do not know I got a new job. My last day at the Billion body shop is tomorrow and my first day at Modine in washington is monday May 2.
To answer most questions: They make heat exchangers (aka radiators, intercoolers, condensers, etc). Its closer to home (saves me 1 per hour for gas alone), and STARTS .65 an hour more than I am getting now and after 1 year I will be making 2.25 more. I will still do some body work on the side although it will be more spread out and will most likely take me longer to complete.
The benefits are also better (other than the sweet discount for parts I got at body shop). The 1 major down side is I will most likely be on 2nd or 3rd shift (yet to be determined). I will be trained on days though so the next couple/few weeks will still be "normal" and after that who knows. Also they are SUPER busy lately and have been running 6 days a week for the last couple months and that will most likely carry on through August.
Thats my update.
