try mixing some fisheye remover, ppg makes it. You mix a cap full per 32oz of base coat, this will prevent your fish eye problem. Another way is to tack cloth in between coats. Wet the floor and make sure ppl dont drag their feet in or around the car in the booth. Clean the booth before you spray. Make sure the painter is clean, wear a paint suit. I used to work for Toyota as a painter, so trust me I know.

good luck sir

Decided not to go to Pro-Am's today. didn't feel like competing and putting my new car at risk. want to enjoy it for a few days before i ruin it.

Gotta thank all of my friends, family, and sponsors who've helped contribute to this build, and sticking by me throughout the series of unfortunate events leading up to, and causing me to miss round 1:

I'd especially like to thank my dad for helping with the body work, and spraying the car!

Forrest **** @ Get Nuts Labs, for taking me into his shop, and letting me build my car, and giving me solid advice, and always being down to help me to excel. definitely a great friend, and an even better driver in the drifting community always trying to push the sport, and scene for the better. Couldn't have been done without you homie, thank you!

Ray, and Ben @ Get Nuts Labs for throwing parts & helping with alot of the wiring to help diagnose my issues throughout the past month.

My Girlfriend Kendall, for letting me build my car, and spending alot of time away working getting money, and more time working.

Joey, Andrew, and Felicia @ 9K Racing for the awesome support, and being good friends.

Jon Chase @ DSTROYR for putting up with me missing 2 events of the series. i promise to charge hard the rest of the season, and make the car super competitive! thanks for everything man!

Steve Singh @ Area-77 Rotorworks for driving back and forth to help out, camping out, and spending hours and hours on end going through my entire car with me trying to diagnose it. thanks for getting it dialed homie! i owe you!

and anyone, and everyone else along the way who helped me make this all possible.

Thank You!

Here's a little video to hold everyone over of the first test run of 2011. i haven't driven anything 5spd since December, and straight hopped into a completely new car. new clutch, power band, seating position, weight, alignment, spindle/camber mod design, new 1.5 way LSD, etc. not too bad.

the shell i had was all battled down there. i was originally going to cut off the mouldings too, and replace it with drop down brackets, and dzus clips, and im still going to do that, but first i need to get the rear mouldings painted and mounted and just have longer drop downs for the dzus fasteners.

i did cut off little corners only because i couldnt break the spot welds free, and again they were kinda smashed on the edges so i just figured id recreate it after the mouldings are on with red tape or something.

I read through most of this thread yesterday and my internet crashed last night when I was on page 31 of 32

First off, you're the man and for the record I kinda liked your old wheels, but your car has more of a pro build look to it this year. I really like that last picture of it with the D1 windshield banner (goes good with the red).

Had a question about shimmed diffs, I think I read somewhere in there that you used to run them. Any advice on what to use to shim it? Did some research on the forum people use everything from shim stock to redbull cans some just add another clutch plate. I have a S4 N/A btw.

Thanks and good luck this year. Will you be at Summit Point? That has to be one hell of a drive from Las Vegas lol.

Thanks man! it means alot. the whole purpose of this build thread is pretty much to help everyone coming up in the sport with FC's. if there's anything i've done to mine i try to keep track of it in here, and hopefully it is beneficial to someone else trying to learn. we all know how this place is with everyone either giving bad advice, or just saying "search" so you can go read someone else giving bad advice from like 10yrs ago.

I put on the window banner, because even though D1 has left the states for now, i grew up watching D1, and always dreamed of having my car fully setup, and have since worked super hard to make it happen, and now that it is, im happy. i thought the window banner would kind of remind me of what got me into drifting in the first place so i put it on. i got it from a friend who somehow got it at the last D1 event in Vegas back in 2007.

as for my diff, it still is the shimmed unit and i love it. Mazda sells replacement clutch discs through Mazdaspeed/MFR. I just took my LSD itself (the whole pumpkin) to Dans Driveline here in Vegas, and had them set it all up for me so honestly i don't know too much of the build itself. it was $200 to have it done, and thats way better than paying $1000 for an OS Giken unit right now for me although it is better.

check with your local drive train shop, and get a quote. most of our mazda drivetrain actually cross references with Ford parts, so you might be able to luck out and get a cheap set of friction rings, and have it built for the under, or at the same price as mine.

i probably won't be at summit point just because of the drive. although maybe next year with XDC if i follow the whole tour i may be able to get my car on their transport rig and if thats available to me, then DEFINITELY!

This is the only video i have until the 20th - still stock turbo 8psi.. no more drifting 'till the tune is refreshed with my 35r/tial 44mm wastegate and we can make it to Doug's Dyno Power for the Dyno session.
bald tires + tons of angle = slow motion ice skating. these spindles are nuts!
http://www.facebook.com/video/video....33389340007291

if you watch it, turn on HD. i think the sound is slightly off but it may be just my computer.
