Yea I feel you on the fans thing. I had to bite the bullet and buy a pair of Derale fans from summit. They're by far the thinnest I've found that are reputable. I think they were right at 3". Check my build tread for pics.

Edit, here you go. If you cut down the shroud like I did, 2 of these will fit between the frame rails on an FD.

ps BULLSHIT. so many cool points for dump tubes out of the hood. that might be the coolest thing i have ever seen.

PSS i love this build thread because it actually has pictures =)
Thanks benny! You have to remember though...if I want to change my front bumper....which will happen.. I'd have to completely re do my whole ducting set up. So i'll leave the openings on the right and left for brake ducts but make them moveable

ohhh hell yea. Would you be able to do me a huge favor and measure the width and height? I know it says 11.75" but My rad will only fit 10" fans. hoping I can make these work. They look very nice

The specs are dead nuts on to actual. You can cut the shrouds like I had to if needed. When you say it will only accept 10" fans, what do you mean?

I mean that My Radiator's height may be a little smaller than the fans.. so I don't want them to overlap. I'll check the actual dimensions when i get to the shop later today.

What turbo are you using?

Have you figured out a way to adapt the stock FD TPS to the throttle body?

BTW, 100,000 views, nice.

45r.........

You know we worked on adapting the TPS but it's so ghetto that I didn't want to run it. Figured it would be a hell of a lot easier just to run an edelbrock TPS and run the wires accordingly. 60 bucks isn't too bad for a good one.

And thanks... 100,000.... not bad

45r how did I forget that little detail. HAHA

How do you plan to get the edelbrock TPS to work with the power FC? or will you be switching ECU's. I was always under the impresion the PFC needed to see both the narrow and the wide rage to function correctly.

BTW, I know it is expensive but HYPERTUNE makes CNC throttlebodys that work with the stock FD TPS. I dont know if that is an option you would be looking at. Myself and chip have hypertune throttlebodys that work with the stock TPS

well truthfully I was just going to wire it accordingly and go from there. If it doesn't work..then I'll have to figure out a better way. Hypertune makes a nice unit..but blood all mighty it's expensive. I'll look into the TPS when it gets closer to start up =-) sometimes I have a problem paying twice as much for certain products when something half the price will function just as well but may not look as visually appealing ya know?

Little Update:
Got the Down Pipe done....jk jk jk

I'm not going to run it like this...for now I wont. I'm going to dump it right under the car midway past the drive shaft. It would really just be so damn loud I wouldn't even be able to start it in the garage without it resonating the whole house. Anyone ever heard a 13b un-corked? sooooooo loud. My exhaust won't be much quieter but i'll eventually get the exhaust figured out.

Anyways.. I worked on the Throttle body fulcrum some.. and decided to just cut off the plate, drill and press out the insert and use the OEM fulcrum. This saved me a baunch-load of money...and seriously only took about 5 min. I'll clean it up a little but It lines up nice and will work just fine =-)
cut the bottom section off and cleaned it up

Also got the down pipe tacked up with the mid pipe v-band as well. Mid pipe is straight through..no resonator

going back into the shop today to get some more work done... hopefully we can get her wrapped up so I can get the car back to my garage and start pulling the carpet, and get some paint and wiring done. Yay fun stuff....NOT haha. Looking forward to my first start!

But yesterday we got the down pipe mocked up and tacked, v-bands attatched, TB fulcrum complete, O2 bungs tacked, throttle cable routed...and.. I think thats all I got done.

ALSO big one.. I need to know where would be a safe place to tap my front cover for my Oil Catch Can.. I have one from the oil filler neck but i need another one on the passenger side of the motor.. Any suggestions or past experience?

I think you are gonna cook the o2 sensors with them being located so close to the turbo outlet.

LOL at the down-pipe out the hood. But seriously though, you will most likely get a headache on the track with your dump tubes located where they are.

I'm going to machine my O2 bungs into heat sinks to take care of that problem ;-)

And i've seen quite a few cars run at my local tracks with open exhausts, and open dump tubes vented to atmosphere/out the hood run all day without any problems. So if it comes to be an issue i'll simply fix it.

Been following this for a while, just wanted to say nice job. You're not going to please everyone, but its nice to see some ingenuity and someone doing something a bit different.

Hey thanks so much! I completely agree.... this build isn't for everyone, and sure there are people who think i should do this with my build and do that with my build, and don't agree with my parts selection or how i'm doing something..but when it comes down to it.. it's my build and i'll do things how I want haha. Thanks so much for the kind words and I appreciate your .02 cents!!

^thanks!

So I have been keeping track of every little cent I spend on the car build. I started to add it up the other day as I'm almost finished with all my mechanicals for the time being, and it was a lot haha.

definitely a down payment on a house!! but i was just thinking about it because I was about to order some spark plugs. You know your A rotary guy when you justify paying 135.00 for a set of 4 Spark Plugs... LOL now that is ridiculous!! haha. I might just single stage it as far as paint goes... spending another 3k for a decent paint job doesn't sound very pleasing ya know? Especially since it won't do any thing but make the car look pretty. Maybe i'll attempt to do the body work and paint myself? I dunno... I'm good with directions and very patient when it comes to diligent work so maybe it'll work out.

anyways... 135 for spark plugs...135.......135.......135.......135...... thats like... a bunch of outtings with me and my lady... haha. thats like.....4 full fill ups in my Prius... thats like..15 trips to the Cinemark theatre at night!! thats like my phone bill and food for a week......thats liek... OHHH WHO GIVES!!! MY CARS GONNA RUN LIKE A CHAMPION!!! on with the build!! MORE UPDATES SOON!!!!

^ LOL and you have to change them every few thousand miles.

It is amazing how we can justify expenses like that.

I think we are all collectively insane.

Likewise, I can drop thousands of dollars in a blink of an eye for my car... and wince when I've spent a few bucks too much at a restaurant. I don't get it... and I also try not to think about it too much

Hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel. When your car is done, or at least nearly done, I'm sure some form of normality can be reinstated.

yea no kidding! you know the 7420's actually last quite a bit longer than the 6725's.. I would only get around 3k miles with the 67's....my last set of 7420's gave me almost 8k and then oil control ring. We'll see how long a new set will last on upgraded ignition, but i'll lever purchase 6725's again haha

^EXACTLY.. this morning I went to this coffee shop and a large regular coffee cost me $2.75... In my head I was like WHAAAAAA?!!! haha.. then somewhere in the back of my head I was like...how the hell did i justify purchasing a metal 2-way for 550.00?..because thats like 200 coffee's hah!!

^ This was great therapy. I'm glad I'm not alone in this mentality. I always just thought I was a cheap as till I decided to spend. When I spend money, I go big or go home.

I fear though that after I finish my current two projects, I'll just get another one! It's a sickness, that's what I tell my wife.
