The MSD DIS-4s are unreliable, but perhaps they'll work well for you as they apparently have for Crispeed. At any rate, if your car starts acting flakey in a couple months go straight to checking the amps.

Anyway, yesterday evening Gotham was working on installing the 2 AMPs in the car. Not sure how long this will take as well as wiring the new coils in. They also need to make a new bracket for the coils too. Brain's the man though and I'm sure he'll do a great job on this.

Ignitor essentially is a switch that gets its signal from the ECU and then switch on and off from the source voltage (usually 12V) to induced current through a transformer (coil) When you add an ignition amp, the amp is amplifying the voltage to the coil so that the signal is coming from the output of the ignitor and the output goes to the coils. If you install an amp to the ignitor, you will just burn the circuit in the ignitor (power transistor) since they can't handle 200-400V input. The output of the ignitor will still be a 12V source so you're not amplifying anything to the coil.

I have no idea. I'm in FL and Gotham Racing is in Dallas so I've never seen her. I stand by my earlier statement, you guys are a bunch of scum dogs

As for the insurance question, this has been discussed in this thread and has also been discussed in great detail in a thread on this forum (Ramy aka FDNEWBIE has posted extensive info on this). I got dropped by State Farm when I did the conversion because the car no longer fits into one of their categories. I now have insurance with Progressive. It's a STATED value policy which means I'll have to argue with the insurance company if anything happens to the car - I'm good at this though and kind of enjoy it. The preferable route is to get an AGREED Value policy thru one of the specialty companies such as Hagerty. My problem is I like to drive the car so I would have had to "stretch" the truth when applying for the policy and I didn't want to do this. For me (others may have a different experience) to get Hagerty, I could only drive the car to and from car events. My understanding is this also varies from agent to agent so search the 3rd gen section for the insurance thread. As I recall, someone posted the name and number of an agent that had helped write policies.
OK I had followed that earlier insurance thread or section of this thread, but never knew if you had succeeded in getting coverage. So there are no inspection stickers in FL, wow. I have been kicking around the idea of maybe a 20B or v8 conversion, but I have been worried about the legal issues-such as inspections, and insurance.

These in-depth chronicles are what alot of people need to bring them back to reality when they are asking about the difficulty of doing a 20b swap and saying "I don't understand why you guys are paying 35k for a swap".

Don't know about the inspection issue - it's not required in FL. If you were to keep on the emissions systems, I don't think you would have an issue, but how many of us do this?

Quick update: Everything is rolling to a conclusion. Brian and Alex rock at Gotham. A bit of a setback: I originally ordered the high output HO MSD AMPs for the car and after Brain called MSD, we decided to send these back. MSD feels the high output rating of the units (170 millijoules) will compromise the reliability of the setup in the long run. So we sent those back for 2 regular DIS-4 boxes. Unfortunately Summit Racing sent one DIS-2 unit istead of a 4 so we now have to wait until Tuesday for the new unit to arrive. Brian has fabbed up brackets in the driver's side bin for the AMPs and is busy wiring up the coils and the one correct AMP unit in the meantime. Gotham also got in my PLX boost sensor unit so they're going to install this too and get the gauges set.
Next week should be a good one for me. Everything should be wrapped up and Steve should be able to take a crack at tuning the car above 14 lbs.

On this topic, one of the forum members has called me and walked me thru how to get an agreed on value policy thru State Farm, insurer for my other two cars. In a week or so I'm going to dig into this to see if I can be sucessful with them. I'll gladly post what happens in a few weeks.

From the quality of the work on my car, she's an excellent body/paint person. It's also my understanding she is a heck of a mechanic so I don't know if you guys could hang with her

Im intrested to know what kind of Guns she uses to spray....If that isn't buffed and wet sanded already thats damn fine work. Then again, getting the clear to go on glass smooth is never a problem seeing as how it just levels out if you do it the right way. On a flat surface facing up that is. Never the less shes done a good job. Also the clear shes using woudl be intrestign to find out.
