Hey guys thanks for the interest... in the hood! I use an Iwata HVLP spraying gun and the clear is Dupont 7800 S High Solid. Which means it has very little solvent in it. FOr those of you who are wondering....

both my FD and vert were painted by Martin Oakland's shop Millenium Autowerks, which has since went out of business. He's about 150 pounds heavier than Brittany, and not nearly as hot
Pictures don't do paint justice, and that paint looks magnifacant (sp?). Congrats David on getting such a quality job. Texas is a long way away from me, but i've got a really good friend that lives just north of Houston, and if that's anywhere near Gotham, and I can go and visit her, i'll definately stop in and check out the shop.

Just to kind of clarify. I dont work for GothamRacing. I own Asian Motorsports which is located inside of Gotham. We have only been in this location about a month or so. I'm glad the hood is causing so much ruckus. I absolutely love it!! We'll try to get some pics on her for you guys.

Hmmm, interesting... so you are partners with Gotham Racing?
I'm pretty sure they just share a building (rent), which is actually a nice service to offer....Get your cars engine built and body work done at the same time! Just wanted to pop in and say great work by all parties, looking forward to seeing some finished product pictures.

yes, yes it is. you're very, very good looking, you are a wrench monkey, and you can paint. the second two are freaking sweet, and almost outweigh the first (sorry, but i'm a bit shallow and have very, very, rediculously (sp?) high standards).
anyway, enough with this, David, keep us updated, looking forward to seeing a post that says "IT'S ALIVE! AND IT'S PERFECT!"

Okay, so things seem to be wrapping up nicely on the project. I know it's a scary thought but I might actually get to drive the car again
My coils have been swapped out and new MSD ignition AMP boxes per Crispeed's recommendation have been installed. Had a bit of a delay in getting the correct boxes in but that's now been resolved. JEGS sent the wrong unit - it came in the right box but was a DIS-2 unit instead of a 4. Brain at Gotham has everything wired up so the car should be good to go for an awesome Steve Kan "final" tune.
While the car is there, Gotham is working on a few small things. They're replacing the PIAA fog light switch I have with an RX7 OEM one and a few other things like this. The painter is working on painting my radiator shroud with the same black finish as the car and they're also doing the same to my door sills. Speaking of painting, the hood vents have now been completed and the hood is painted. The vent mesh material has been shaped:

The fabricator, Asian Motorsports in Dallas TX, tig welded the ends of the mesh to keep everything tidy:

The shaped mesh inserts were then sent out for black powder coating and were installed in the hood. The final product:

Not quite so final though for me. I'm just not pleased with the mesh inserts - they don't give the car enough of an OEM feel for me. So, I've asked the fabricators to install a different mesh in the openings, the kind used on a Honda S2000 in another thread on the forum:

I'm going to have them paint the material flat black to give it an OEM contrast to the hood paint and I think I'll then be done with the project. Besides the aesthetics of the hood, I'll be happy to report back to you on if the hood helps to lower engine temps. We have several good data logs of engine temps before the hood modification that we can use for comparison.

Really glad you are going a different route on your hood vents (mesh). I really didnt like how the current setup looks. I think the flush mesh will look a lot better.
After all its all about the looks

Update
Spoke with Steve Kan yesterday and the new MSD ignition AMP setup and coils recommended by Crispeed have done the job - no more ignition breakup! See what $1,300 can do?
Anyway, the car is now tuned to 15 lbs. of boost and is making about 500 WHP on the Gotham Racing Mustang dyno. Factoring in a 10% difference for conversion to a Dynojet, that's a little over 550 RWHP. Steve Kan is uncomfortable tuning at any higher boost levels because he doesn't want to blow the engine at this late stage in the project. Guess I can't blame him after having the car for 9 months. Forgot to ask him about torque but I'll post the dyno when I get it.
So, very few items remain to wrap up the project. The paint/body shop guys/girls are working on installing the new mesh (see my above post with the Honda S2000) and the vented hood will be done. They were also painting my radiator shroud "thingy" and my RX7 aluminum sill plates black to match the exterior of the car.
The Gotham mechanics are replacing a few broken plastic pieces on the car and are investigating an abnormal sounding radiator fan and a few other electrical things, none major (flashing airbag signal/clicking sound from ignition area). They also need to adjust the background of my PLX gauge monitor to match the stock gauges (black with white numbers and a red needle). I'm probably forgetting a few things but you get the picture, we're about to wrap this baby up! My plan is to meet Gotham 1/2 way, possibly in New Orleans, to pick up the car. I need to speak to Alex about this. My fellow RX7 buddy Dean and I will either fly in to New Orleans or we may trailer the car home.
Major thanks to Steve, Alex, and Brian from Gotham Racing on the project. They're very knowledgable standup guys who have saved my car from a year of despair at Wolf EMS USA. It's been a long, frustrating bumpy road getting the car back into shape and I appreciate everything they have done for me. If you need yor car worked on, I highly recommend them to you.
Anyway, I'll post more, including pics, with a complete wrap up over the next week or two.
