What's the fastest you've had your FD??
fastest ive ever gone was 165 on route 39 in ohio. the back end feels really scary at those speeds, how do you fix that? at those speeds do you start needing 'real' aerodynamic helpers like wings, rear diffusers, side skirts, super low front end, canards? and how much of a difference does it make? anyone track their car a lot and can tell us?
i remember now i had GAB adjustable shocks on at the time, but other than that at 165-170 the rear end didnt feel scary, but i dunno, i hear we need downforce upgrades at that point
well whatever a jdm tranny (shorter 5th), 4.77 gears, and 275/40-r17 tires tops out at + power mods
all i know is my spedo was buried for a while
i made it from lincoln NE to omaha NE in 18 min
The scary thing is 160 mph dont even seem fast anymore in my car

265km/hr... but in my old 3000GT. Even that thing was light at speed, I'd hate to think about an FD!
Short run showing how long the gears are...

160 mph on I-405 in Kirkland, WA then I **** my pants cuz it started raining.... A couple of Honda's were racing so I figured I'd show em up and I just never got off the throttle until I had to turn
165+ with more to go but we were racing from onramp to offramp and ran out of real estate...it did feel as if it had more to go.
One of these days i'll top it out...pull up the commander's KPH read out when the speedo is nailed lol

No. Assuming you have a manual with a 4.1 rear end, and stock diameter tires, then the top speeds for 4th gear are as follows:
7800 RPM = 138 mph
8000 RPM = 142 mph
8300 RPM = 147 mph
So you can definitely hit 140 at the top of 4th gear.

I have had my FD up to 160 on the freeway against some stupid kid in a Civic who thought he could beat me......... Yea I didn't see him after 3rd gear........ or 4th............... or 5th......... Earlier that day I had it up to 155 and someone told me it was governed at 155 so I decided to prove him wrong in the process of "racing" if you can even call that a race.....
Hey Jimmy thanks for the info on the S4 I'm pickin one of those up this summer for my daily driver!!!!!

A quick burst of 90-160 in the FD late at night going to surprise my wife for the holidays that I got off of work earlier then she expected. It was Christmas 2005... I slowed down soon as i saw it hit 160... I didnt think it would get to that as fast as it did with a downpipe and exhaust. Slowed down then set cruise for 90 the rest of the way... that was the only time. Oh its an Auto FD.
the fastest ive gotten my fd was slightly over 150..... the fastest ive ever been was 190 in my friends '06 porsche 911 turbo cab.. we raced some vettes and camaros and other generic US cars and i couldnt believe how fast that car could take off and just keep accelerating. we were racing w some ss and took off from the start and decided to show him how much faster that car is... i was just looking straight ahead at how fast the lines were starting to get and looked down to see 175 on the digital readout....next time i looked down i saw 190 and creeping....it seemed like it still had some room to go.. it felt like i was cruising at 70mph because of how stable that car is. i was so impressed w that car... we had two 170lb passengers and one 280lb....as well as our luggage.. it was rediculous how fast that car could take turns also...an fd would be dead in the situations i was in... nearly full throttle onto onramps w 455hp....god bless Porsche engineers with their pasm and awd...i cant wait till he gets his exhaust, intake and ecu upgrades...

I had my convertible topped out for ahout half an hour straight. The speedo showed 120 but I was really only going a little over 110. It may have had no power but I've never had more fun than I had in my 1992 Miata.

I set my PFC at something slightly above 8000, forget exact figure.

As I posted before 172 gauge on Tx 259 with stock ECU, gearing and 245/45 tires.
155 Texas Motor Speedway in turn 3. Recent with PFC etc, 145 front straight CCW Texas World Speedway .. passing a Porsche GT3.
Car stability; I drove on same part that I did 172 to test out new PFC, IC etc., but with a messed up (cracked) undertray .. car damn near felt suicidal, I backed off before 150.
Regarding aerodynamics, little things can make a big big difference in stability. The car can be very stable at speed; but wheel alignment, shocks, body trim (angle down at front), body parts must all be right.
