Those are the speeds the gearing allows. A stock R1/R2 tops out at ~157, a base/touring at ~163. A stock car is not going to pull 170 mph, so either you were mistaken or your speedo reads too high.

There's a LOT of bullshit in this thread already, hence the flag....no need for the namecalling...

145mph on highway (almost stock).

I thought that these cars were capable of hitting 180 in stock condition?

The problem isn't the gearing moron. The problem is that a stock FD doesn't have enough power to go to overcome the wind resistance at that speed. I may be an *******, but you are an idiot, and a liar.

I'm not sure why I felt the need to mention that. You have made it abundantly clear on your own.

273 hp and 217 lbs-ft with old setup ~ 173 mph, but I have 245/45X17s on, so the speed measured may not be quite accurate, with stock wheels it should have registered higher.

He said he had 170mph out of it. I've had 180mph indicated on the clock out of my STOCK FD once - havent got there again. He MIGHT be for a liar, but i know for one that its not entirely impossible for a stock FD to indicate that speed on the speedo, as i've had 10mph faster than that. I'm not sure what it is on GPS as i didnt have mine at the time and havent managed to get to that speed since, but i know on my GPS now 165mph indicated (which is the fastest ive managed to get since) is 158mph actual speed on my GPS system.

Stock *gearing* will take you well past 180, but stock power levels won't

It could be that the UK edition FD had more rwhp than the USA edition. Did your car come with a precat, or downpipe? Stock USA car won't go that fast.

Lol Ramy - no i wasnt falling off a cliff. It was a cold morning on a looooong straight piece of road with still air.

No precat on UK models - just a straight downpipe. No room for precat with a steering rack in the way!

Taller wheels/tires than stock? No wind resistance either. 4th gear tops out at 140 on stock wheels & tires .......... I have done it.

That would explain why your UK model has a higher top end speed. A dp is probably good for at least 15 rwhp.

Im not a liar man if my car wasnt in the body shop i would do it again and take a picture i have only got up to 170 1 time it would have done more i think the cars were coming up to fast. I have went 165+ at least 5 or 6 times. The car was bone STOCK with about 24,000 miles. Just because YOUR car may not travel up to those speeds or your "air" is twice as heavy does not mean that nobody else's car can not get up to those speeds mabe a tune up will help you i dont know. What I can tell you is that im not a liar and it pisses me off to be called one i have nothing to gain of lying if i wanted to make up a lie it wouldnt be how fast my car can go

Your speedo is wrong then. This car is not capable of going over 163 or so stock. You have an R1, so that's even worse, about 157 mph or so. Period. Drop it.

Yep. No chance of a stock FD going 170. No chance at all.

Yep, R1 is even slower because of spoilers.

If he doesn't have stock sized rims or tires, that can throw off the speedo for sure...
