I know someone who is a "wingless wonder" and he's had his to 165+ - don't think it's a problem.

Funny how a wingless car is so common in the US, but it's so rare to get a car out of Japan thats never had a wing.

If you've never had your car to the buzzer in 5th gear then you've never really opened it up properly if you ask me. I've not quite had mine there.. at 165mph on the speedo there is still plenty of room for more. I have got a pic of the dash @ 165mph somewhere that I got a mate to take hehe.

One of my tyres is almost bald so I'm not pushing it over 150mph at the moment. What's the fastest anyone has ever done in the wet? I did 140mph in pouring rain once and normally I don't like going fast in the wet 'cos the back-end gets so twitchy, but at 140mph it was cornering on sharp corners without trouble, though I was scaring myself sh*tless!

I have hit
7375.5 cm/sec
14520 ft/min
242.055 ft/sec
4425.3 meters/min
guess it would have been easier to say
165 mph
but where is the fun in that

Like rynberg said, you are either a complete moron, or you are lying out of your ***. Sharp cornering at 140mph on wet roads??? You sure you don't mean 140kph?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but is a stock FD even capable of redlining in 5th gear? I thought the top speed was somewhere around 160.

Under the Patriot Act, you're all under arrest for terrorizing SUV drivers on the highway!!

I do believe the car will do the 180mph.I had mine up to 140 or so tonight and it was still pulling hard.I ran out of road. The car is bone stock. With a fresh mazda reman in it.I have about 500 miles on the reman. The car feels so smooth at that speed i was so amazed. My mx6 at 150 feels like its going to take off from the road.I know my mx6 would go faster but its gear limited to 151mph.Dont ask for my list of mods on my mx6, its extremely long. All i can say is its the fastest mx6 in the midwest. You wont see another one like it.Which is how I want my rx7 to be.

Isn't the break-in period for a rebuild 1000 miles? Don't they say keep it under 3000 RPM and under 70 MPH!? Hmm, that 140 looks like a redline in 4th gear. Maybe remans are different. I know when my Pettit Rebuild was around 500 miles I was granny driving that beehatch around town...maybe it's just me

I went 205 in a buddies Z, he had a 200 mph speedo. His car make 550 @ the wheels, but we were pushing redline in 5th. Plus it was like 3 AM no cars in sight, fun times. But in my car the fastest I have been was 130ish.

Dude, you beat me to it. Some break in period policies are even longer than 500 miles as well.
Someone here has actually hit the 200 mark? That's insane. There isn't a road long enough in a straight line to get going much faster than I did.
I don't even know what to say about that guy's comments about driving like that in the rain.

May I ask why you were doing 140mph in the rain?

For some real idea of what it is like to be passed by another FD while you are doing 120 go to this site and click on flybye.

By all accounts he was doing 160+

There were 7 3rd gens and a 2nd gen in a convoy to Indy for the Revolution. We had a ball.

162 mph in my bone stock 93 R1 on a straight, empty stretch of California state highway. Could have gotten a little more out of her if some oncoming traffic hadn't popped up on the horizon.

4th gear, about redline, almost 140. I started running out of road, but the FD still felt glued to the road. You gotta' love the sound of apexi duals at 7500 RPM!
Just so you know, I was late for my tee time First three holes I was so amped up still I think I bogeyed the first three holes.

Later on this day I hit the famed 180mph. The pic below was in a tunnel in northern Italy, heading to Austria, then Germany for a conference in Ramstein. I was on a 4-lane north of Stuttgart and it was all open so I punched it. Didn't get a picture of the 180...I'm not stupid or crazy! She was handling it well but the hood started to shake a bit so I shut her down to a normal autobahn cruising speed of 120mph.

God I miss Europe
