That's crazy.

I got my parts last week. Part of the order was 2 sets of motor mounts. I found an extra set I already had tucked away at about 3 months into this and asked to cancel one set. Well, 2 sets showed up and I did not receive a refund. And I am not sending anything back without first having money in hand, so this chapter is closed for me, will have a set of motor mounts for sale soon. At least I got the stuff I ordered. I do think they make the best plug n play IGN coil kit vs the other options so I'm glad I waited for that part.

I think they'll make it right for others, but seeing the guy above wait a year for a prepaid engine, finally about to get refunded, and then seeing a new block posted online for sale is odd.

Anybody know where else to source a single turbo kit?

Seems like they are stealing from Peter to pay Paul, or using funds from one person to pay back another.

Hope they sort out their issues.

Turblown is an option. I was on the fence between them and IRP.

They seem to have some of their own delays and service level challenges though.

Unfortunately, this sort of thing is usually a precursor to the death or bankruptcy of an organization. IRP are obviously struggling to keep afloat.
Hopefully, they can make it through this, but if they don't, most customers with prepaid non-deliveries will be left hanging.

I think there is a lot of conjecture occurring in regards to the health of the business, most of the issues presented here are regarding online sales and not actual work being turned out.

I ordered a Mazda motor from them august 2021 they even charged me freight. When I ordered I was number 12 in line so I was told by Paul at IR. Since then I only managed a response from the august 2022 with no information except they are getting the motors but really slow only 1 or 2 a month and I’m 6 on the list. I’m not a mathematician but that really doesn’t add up. I have not been able to get anyone on the phone since but when I was giving them money it was really easy to get them to answer the phone. Sad part is I could have had a motor from 2 other reputable shops by now. These guys are joke

Sounds like they treat local/walk in customers/jobs differently than online sales, but I also think there is definitely something to the fact that they are not fulfilling orders in any semblance of a timely manner, with a major lack of customer service and communication. IMO I don't think it'd be wise for anyone to place an order with them going forward until they restructure and/or get their heads back in the game. But people still will, social media/instagram whatever makes you look cool and younger people want to do business with you. Just look at the vargas brothers. Blows my mind people are still taking them business/dealing with them.

Why on earth would you order from that loser? That place scams more people and will also make a paid in full customer wait a year and then complain it's the customer's fault. Good luck with that.

It’s amazing to see how many folks have had similar experiences. I ordered a crate motor and single turbo back in August of 2021 - To make a long story short, I just started my car for the first time yesterday, and ultimately, had to buy the motor from another vendor. Just like Testrun, I had a bittersweet experience. On the one hand, it can’t be denied that IRP makes great products, but the communication and follow through is greatly lacking. Ultimately, this is a business, not a bro to bro arrangement. Everyone at IRP is incredible, and are people that I would love to grab a beer with. Unfortunately, I can’t justify doing more business with them unless they are able to fix their backlog and communication problems. As IRP alluded to in a previous post, there are two sides to every story, and I do believe they are trying as hard as they can, and working in good faith. For those that want to do business with IRP, be prepared to wait longer than you expect to, and don’t be surprised if you have trouble getting in touch.

It does not help how much good faith and hard trying you are doing. If you are taking orders for engines that you cant deliver for a year and be able to communicate this in a transparent way, you should not be taking such orders.
Also, if you are going to **** over web/call customers over walk in customers with cars, just stop doing online sales of said things.

Sorting this is very simple:
- Make a google drive sheet with engine orders.
- Each order listed with order number and date.
- Note date and time for deliveries from Mazda.
- Cross out engines in the list as soon as one is shipped from you.
- Every person who order an engine get access to the document and can see the progress of their wait list.

Time?
It takes 3 minutes to do this when processing an engine order (that have to be processed anyway) and then when each is delivered it takes you 2 mins to cross out deliveries.
I could have set up a list like that in less time than IRP has spent dealing with angry engine customers and refunds.

After all the negative feed back including a google review I got my first actual call from Paul in over a year. He apologized and gave all kinds of excuses but assured me an answer on my motor that day. To my surprise he did actually call me back the same day but again no answer just run around. It was the end of the week and he guaranteed an answer Monday/Tuesday the following week. Well that came and went no communication. He has no answer he has no motors and he refuses to refund my money. I’m running out of patience for this

Good thing I spotted this thread. I am in the process of plotting my single turbo build, and IRP was definitely on my list of possible shops to do the engine work. Has anyone had any reviews regarding Elite Rotary out of Illinois? In regard to communication, I got an extremely fast response from RotorSports Racing about my questions involving BNR's. I assume this level of communication will be maintained after an item/service is purchased from them. Just my .02 about the industry. If you live in or around AZ, I can personally vouch for Tony over at UMS Tuning, I used his services numerous times (S2000 (Turbo Build), 240SX (R33 Engine Swap), FD (Power Commander install and Tune)) and have been happy every single time. He also knows how to tune wankel's and anything that uses pistons.

I do agree with whoever above mentioned that if our community had a guaranteed LEGIT engine builder, they would have a never-ending list of clients.

You might want to check the business review thread on Elite. HINT: its in the bad/fugly business section.

Elite way worse than IRP seems to be. They dont even treat their walk-in customers with builds right.
I would try and shop around and not buy a "big" kit, but rather source spesific parts you want. Its better to be down $700 for a turbo manifold one place and then ahve the rest of the **** show up, than not having anything show up at all.
Also you are probably less likely to be given the "backorder" bullshit if you only shop single parts and verify stock before purchasing.

I think it’s a bunch of frustrated people out a considerable amount of money. With IR refusing refunds and Paul saying he didn’t want to deal with me anymore.

RotorSports Racing did work on my car a little over a year ago. New 13b, BW 8374, Haltech EMS, dual oil coolers, FFE fuel system, Greddy vmount, etc... They installed everything and street tuned it. There were some small issues that I ended up resolving on my own once I got the car back, but overall the work they did was great. It took several months for all the parts to arrive, but the project was completed in a timely manner. I wish the car could have been dyno tuned, but it runs great on the tune that Bryan did. If you decide to go with RSR, make sure you check out Bryan's cars. He's got a couple of 3 rotors that sounded absolutely nuts when he started them up.

Before seeing this thread, I was pretty set on taking the car to IR Performance for a proper dyno tune. I don't think I want to do that anymore.
