Anti-Det Installed

I closed the last thread because it was turning into the first thread.

Anyway, I installed these plugs today and took about 20 minutes to install. I wanted to see if the car would fire and idle, so I didnt make any changes to the Power FC. Car fired up on the first crank and idled perfect. I took it out for a drive and the car drove great with no hesistation and pulled really strong running 10lbs of boost. So far so good. I will get the car on the dyno this week and do some testing at 15lbs and 20lbs of boost. Im running 93 octane. Sorry for the lack of data, but I at least wanted to post I installed them and car runs good.

Out of curiosity, do the new pieces of hardware come with crush washers similar to a spark plug or are they just a solid seating face?

It's a solid piece with no washer.

I am still skeptical to how well this could actually work opposed to just a really good tune, but am looking forward to seeing the data you get from the dyno, thanks for trying this keep us posted

Thanks Jason !

Finally, we'll get the 'hard' data from reputable source.

I stuck them in a spare housing and they come to the edge, but there is a small open space on either side.

i got a fc not too long ago and started having hesitation (kinda like fuel cut but at different rpms and at weird times) problems as well as horrible fuel economy with it, i replaced the leadings but left the trailings alone becuase i just happen to have a spare set of leadings just laying around (this was right after i had flooded it). in anycase, i finnaly got 4 new plugs and put them in and all the hesitation went away and my MPG when up. my traillings looked horrible and i dont think they were firing at all which i think caused all that weird hesitation.

also, did you try just running the car without the trailling plugs plugged in? you should do a few dyno pulls with the anti-det thingy installed and then with the stock plugs in there without them pluged in, im interested to see if the results are the same

on another point, since the stock plugs do have a little if of empty space where the plug is, does putting in those anti-det plugs increase compression ratio? its probally so small you can't really measure it but i was just wondering if anyone took this into account or cared

Sorry I'm new to this anti-det device also. So is the "device" just those 2 fake plugs that replace the trailing plugs? I guess I gotta go search for the original threads on this because I don't know how that would cause anti-det....unless someone wants to explain here. Thanks, and sorry if thats an ignorant question.

Just go to one of the emissions stations in one of the smog-control counties (I know the ones in the immediate vicinity of Cuyahoga (Cleveland) are all smog counties but there's probably some closer to you). Will cost $20 if it passes. Make up some excuse about how you are moving to X county and you want to make sure it passes, if they ask why you're testing.

The only possible downside is, if it fails, it *might* raise a flag on the car's registration... maybe. I don't know how networked the E-Check stations are to the BMV. Or if a car that fails smog in a smog county can be registered in a non-smog county, assuming a flag is raised. (I highly doubt it, half the time they don't even take my E-Check stub when I register my cars, they just glance at it and check off "passed" on the registration form)

People need to be warned about Mr. Steven Hyde. He stole an animation from my web site (after being refused permission to use it), reformatted it to .gif, and now claims ownership of it. Is this the sort of person you would trust? Here is his email to me from less than 30 minutes ago:

Mr. Qualley,
I regret to inform you that based on your prior decision to deny authorization of the use of your animation, we had to spend the addition resources to create our own source code and formatting for animation on Performance Group Unlimited, LLC. Your animation is in .mov format which is a QuickTime animation format. My source code was written and is executed in .gif format which is different than your animation on www.rotaryengineillustrated.com. Please provide me the copyright number to which you base your claim so I may have my lawyer review your request and determine if the .gif format is indeed a possible copyright infringement. Once a determination has been reached I will remove the animation if the findings show a copyright infringement.
Real smart!

Yes, it is. Mr. Steven Hyde is the guy at Performance Group Unlimited who stole the animation to sell this "anti-detonation" product.

What do you do with the trailing plug wires? Did you just let them hang loose? I'd be afraid of them arking against something.
