How to value your FD

It was a hard hit for sure. I had a headache for a couple of weeks and a sore neck for over a month but I'm ok now.
Some people own their mistakes and others don't. This dude didn't even apologize at the track. I had to reach out to him several days later. In this case I'm out 100k car less what I can part it out for. The biggest damage was simply that I was just starting to get a good vibe in the car and enjoying it fully (setup$$$/aligned/staying aligned etc...). I may get the FD up and going but after investing 30k with multiple shops I still have a bucket of bolts that's not track ready. It's very frustrating trying to track an FD (27 year old heavily modded turbo rotary race car) unless you are turning the wrenches yourself (at this point I don't even want to change brakes or susp work/everything hurts LOL). W/O PFS or a good shop close by I'm dead in the water. May take this year off or buy another GT3 today LOL.
Unlike business and politics though this really doesn't contribute to this thread but I appreciate the support. Bottomline; I'm still the same old car nut I've always been just feeling the miles on the chassis

I don't know how there aren't better rules in place for these situations. I know its a risk being on track but being left with having to part out a 100k car to recoup money that another idiot took away just doesn't seem right. Sorry to see that man.
Fritz, with the new Supra and C8 Vette slotting in around $60k, what you think about those values vs GT3 and FD? Those are still more money than an FD but quite a bit under the GT3.

A GT4 is likely a close second.
There are so many great options for track cars right now (vettes, mustangs, camaros etc...) and from what I've seen the Camaro ZL1 is probably the best bang for the buck. I may test drive one and go that route if I like it. Scratch that I just looked it up and I'm too damn vain to drive it LOL.

^ Camaros and Mustangs are the bread and butter of what is being tracked/built based on factory tubs here as well (scca, central/southern coast) for fast, reliable, tracking and racing. Vettes and Vipers after that it seems.

Hard hit glad you were ok. There are only two cars I really care about driving and keeping in my garage. I have a FD so I am just missing a gt3. Fritz I would love for you to start a thread on the performance difference between the stock gt3 and a well modded FD.

In what world is him being 100% at fault and hitting you not his financial responsibility? By that logic Random Track Guy Joe can take his $5000 Camaro, run into 30 cars on the track and walk away. WTF?!
Racing on track is at your own risk unless you have track day insurance.
It's really difficult to hold someone legally accountable, unless they did something crazy like actually hitting 30 cars.

I wondered what happens in an accident at a track day. Used to do some track days on motorcycles at VIR, I don't remember them saying much if anything about liability in accidents during the morning riders meeting. I think there may've been a check box whether or not you had health insurance. Guess it's the same with cars. I was in my early 20s and didn't have enough good sense to ask/care. Glad you came out ok Fritz that looked like a pretty good hit. Sucks about the car.

It's truly everyone for themselves out on track. I used to get track day insurance for the FD. I will no longer track a car unless it is caged car with full containment seat and head/neck restraint. The cars are great fun, but the people are just too unpredictable.

My lesson is if I don't know a driver and he drives up my *** I give him a point by. The problem is it happens all the time in the advanced/instructor group or there are people who are very comfortable getting close to other cars.

At 55 I've slowed down a lot. My body is worn out (lots of mileage hehe). For most of the past 20 years I've had 5 plus FDs laying around in different configurations until this year.
I still have a nice VR R2 and my VR R1 track/race car.
I used to have a nice GT3 until a mustang hit me at the track last year: https://streamable.com/rfcyd?utm_sou...medium=ios_app

When setup properly both cars handle very well so the power and weight is all that really matter. Neither car has much torque so whichever car has the better ratio combined with aero will be the faster car. That said there's a much higher probably that the GT3 will actually finish the race esp if it's a 60 minute or even a 20 minute sprint type race.
The icing on the cake is both cars are gorgeous

Gents,
Local owner here in Phoenix just listed his car for sale on BAT. Montego BLUE '94. Solid driver. I'm very familiar with the car if anyone has Qs.

@Fritz Flynn , I already know it's the wild west out on track as far as the dynamic between the drivers is concerned but does your local organization review these scenarios and administer any penalties or discipline? If the organization can ban a driver like this from their events and flag him to other organizations, and drivers are made aware that outcome is possible if they're reckless/negligent, then it might force people to second guess trying to win the imaginary race going on in their head.
Jesus. I stay away for a week and finding out Fritz got whacked. So sorry, Fritz, but so glad you are okay. I've had a couple of offs years ago, but was lucky to stay away from getting hit. I never thought about what happened if I got whacked and the car got creamed. Losing a lot of money like that has got to hurt.
So glad you're okay!
