Very unfortunate. Ignoring the description and looking at the photos is seems like nice enough car (not 70k nice but nice) but this is definitely not the type of person you want to buy from.
I just bought my '93 touring with 24k miles for $31k. Being a low mileage 94 fake R2 I could see this one going for $45k to $50k but no more than that.
"Though this RX-7 is a Premium Package (which again, you should know what that is) it does have every option from the highly regarded R2 Package. In short, it s an OEM Premium / R2 Package car. The only one that exists!"
The ad is deceptive. The way that it is written it makes it seem as if the car was ordered that way from the factory. Even if it was, at the end of the day it is just a PEP car with some R-mods... Another thing: The only one that exists? uhm... I have a 94 PEP with some R-mods lol
I suppose all he needs is one sucker to bite.
i ran the vin this morning, and its a black on tan touring, built 2/17/1994 and sold new at Putnam Mazda, so it is a local car
not affiliated, although my friend likes to put N1 Duals on stuff

I think you got a good deal. As much as I love montego it is typically the least desirable and with tan interior it definitely commands the least money of any color combo. That said, assuming yours is in great condition with original non green looking paint I think yours would bring low 40s currently. I'm curious where you purchased yours?

Ah thanks for the clarification. Blows me away as I always thought that a sunroofed car without a factory equipped bose system automatically fell under the PEP/PEG category. Obviously, the premise being that a bose system was never removed after the touring model designation.

Edit- We got a new one:
A canadian 1993 R1 with 75K Kilometer a.k.a 47K miles
Are there any other 14k mile manual FDs out there currently priced more then $10k less? Serious question. I don’t think the price point is far off.
YEP
Supply and demand.
Again I'd pay more for a nice FD than a supra so I won't be surprised if it's a 100k car in 5 years. Will I ever pay a 6 digit number for an FD, I doubt it but I'll never say never when it comes to this car

It was at a high end car dealership and my brother in law knows the owner of the dealership. They got it from a guy that had kept it and other cars in a climate controlled garage since 1996. There were a couple bigger scratches on both bumpers and I've already had them repainted. (I know a guy) MB is my favorite color for FDs. I would never own a VR.(too cliche) or CYM(i hate yellow cars). I've had a black car and hated trying to keep it looking good. Silver and white are kind of boring colors. They don't look bad on the FD but every car comes in a silver or white. I waited awhile to find a low mileage, unmolested, MB FD and kind of lucked into this one.
Hey guys and or gals ! Wanted your thoughts on this. I have a 95 LHD with 84k miles original setup interior 9.5 out of 10 with only reliability and exhaust modifications for better heat management. It’s the color everyone seems to like the least Montego Blue. I love the color and thinks it’s more blue than green but I’m going to do a full high end and complete paint job. For the purposes of value, and matching to vin, I’ve been planning to do the original paint code. But what are your thoughts if I went white or black or something else unique. Do you think it would affect the value negatively? I know there is much debate about this. But traditionally in my experience in restoring American made cars. The stock color code which preserves the vin Code brings the better resale value. I’m not planning on selling but I’m sure one day I will. Would love your feedback. Koyo radiator, Tanabe racing medallion exhaust and downpipe. Silicone hoses. K&N stock air filter. Original wheels and caps 10 out of 10 Has 99 spec lights and r1 lip with side skirts Perfect interior
If you wanted to change colors, it would be a big job to do it right. The engine bay and door jambs would need to be done as well.
Black is the only color you can get away with doing a color change and leaving the engine bay as-is IMHO. Even then it isn't great.
If you just want to change things up look into doing a Plastidip job. I've done my car a few times, it's an easy way to change the color and you can peel it off when you're over it.
If your main concern is the value, stick with MB. However, keep in mind that a 84K mile car isn't really collectible but a driver's car so do what brings you the most joy out of the car. My 94 used to be MB and I had it repainted to a different color because I bought this car for ME (not the next guy) to enjoy and I really don't care that much about a few thousand dollars lost because of modifications. YOLO
