How to value your FD
Checking out this site which is slightly different than Bat. The prices seem to be slightly higher than I expect, but it’s worth a look here’s two .... interesting time for the FD.

Hey guys, how much would you guys value Montego with 123k miles with newly built engine. However problem with boost leaks assuming engine is still good? Seller posted up for $15k, you guys think it's good deal?
A decent rebuilt FD is worth $15k. But, any $15k FD is gonna need a **** ton of things, and we have no details. How much time and money you got to deal with it? Asking cause you might wanna save it for one that needs less, to save time and ultimately save money.

well here is the detailed ad. It probably needs tons of things get it done but who knows?

Pictures look decent and the engine bay looks complete. Probably has some funky sequential issue, if it was a boost leak that's about 15 minutes to fix.
Or something way wrong with the engine. It does look like PO seems to have known somewhat what he was doing, but a home rebuild is a crap shoot. Also possible the tank is rusted out if it's sat for a long time.
Definitely needs some love but it's totally worth saving. I'd roll up with a trailer and cash and try to knock down the price some.

^ Yup, depend on condition of the body, it's a decent deal. Parts on there worth at least a couple k, just assume you'll need a new engine + labor when you make your offer.

16k mile r2 JM1FD3339R0300848 has tons of history otherwise it would be a buy at 50 or 60k. Sat outside And not driven for over many years. Repaint etc etc
i think it sold on bat for approx 35k last year.
Here's the link to the R2 sale from BAT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1994-mazda-rx-7-40/
Lots of these cars with history even lower mileage varieties. Crazy car market, be careful out there.

For reference, my 93 Base with a seized motor and automatic transmission cost me $7800.... in 2015.... So... yeah.
EDIT: Just saw the ad you posted.... yeah you'd be super dumb not to ****** that up IMO.

The FD market continues to be hot in Western Canada. This despite the Vancouver police cracking down hard on all modified import cars (and even stock Porsches). Previously unseen Canada spec LHD are coming out from storage. Meanwhile the steady drip drip of RHD from Japan continues, with one instance of a very early S6 RHD being imported from Florida. Incidences of S8 showing up are a bit more common and there is likely six Spirit R in B.C. now. A new generation of enthusiasts, likely raised on "Initial D", are in the market with no holds barred conversion of LHD to fantasy Initial D or RE-A replicas; we even have a locally built full blown F&F "Hahn" conversion Veilside FD, stirring up enthusiasts at local cars and coffee. Well known stock LHD are steadily being converted and even ones with modestly high mileage are selling for up to C$40,000 for this purpose. Cars-for-part-out are getting extremely rare, with used parts prices raising accordingly. Some LHD parts are coming into market from the conversion efforts.
I have heard of about six LHD CYM in Canada, including one held by Mazda Canada in Ontario. There have been several instances of yellow RHD (CYM or ?) imported, but perhaps these were repaints.
Four out of maybe eight FD at a recent cruise/meet were MB (three of them LHD).

Sorry, they are not converting to RHD. They are converting to Initial D and Fast and Furious replicas. They prefer LHD for doing this, because, in part, of the inherent local cache.
I have only heard of one LHD being converted to RHD. Someone in Oregon, maybe.
We see attempts to go from RHD to LHD, and more often, from Automatic to 5MT.
One drawback with basing a build on LHD, is the tremendous cost of getting an LHD interior back up to show grade.
Have you seen export of cars to Australia? Seems the prices are shooting up there. That might be an example of people wanting to convert LHD to RHD.
It is painful to see our local stock of stock LHD steadily dwindling, but the buyers are paying top dollar and, by and large, keeping the cars local. Also helps keep our rotary shops open.

I no longer check autotrader, the 3rd gen for sale section here and ebay daily like I did 10+ years ago as a lot of the cars for sale these days are listed on other avenues. There are currently 0 LHD FDS on ebay right now, only 7 LHD FDs on autorader and just a handful here on the forum and we now go over a week or two at a time before one is listed here. However, I have noticed even facebook only pretty much has RHD FDs being listed right now. Those who have a LHD FD simply aren't selling. I think we are about to see another step up in price for this chassis. Congrats to all those sitting on a nice example right now. We may finally start to see the returns the Supra and NSX guys have been enjoying.

I would agree and we need to support everyone selling a FD for a price that might seem higher then normal. I like my FD and want to continue to enjoy it but I do see it as an investment/stepping stone for A different more modern car in the future.
FD values just bumped up a bit, lost a 93' R1 (VR) and a 94' touring (BB) to the fires in northern CA today. Everyone take a drink in their honor tonight. RIP

Your personal cars? Sorry to hear that. Let us know how insurance treats you. Make sure to get after them hard. Sometimes they're a real jerk.
Yeah personal cars, I had 3 FD's when I went to bed last night and woke up to only having one left. The worst part is......they were the lowest value vehicles in the shop there.
California just pisses me off at this point. lol
