AL woes

ok i got me a 88 vert did a battery relocation and replaced a starter with a remand advance auto one... and ever since then i have had a slow start condition with my vert.. i tried everything.... i put all new grounds put all the wires that was coupled on the battery terminal in to a distribution block.

when i jump start it every 3rd try it spins up fast..like it should
but with out a jump it turns soooo slow i got a 1000 cold cranking amp battery tested.. and its running like its a dead battery.. i

i dont have any hesitations or anything..

any one with a convertible knows what im talking about the the bolt post where you bolt down the spare wheel cover?
well if you kno what i am describing thats where my neg IS i stripped the paint off and bolted it there... thanks for any help..

oh and last but not least my car doesnt want to start on the first and secound try it really wants to but wont... its almost like its missing or somethign but on the 3rd try she starts right up and goes to 3k and warms up and i drive with no problems.

p.s. sorry if the paragraph structure or sentence forming is up to par..

ok amoung many things I can imagine that arnt right with what you did I will ask what guage you used first for you battery.... 0 is overkill, 2 and 4 shouldnt be a problem... should have grounded on the frame .... i took two seconds and searched and this was the first page i got, it will give you some good information, not rx7 but same principle.

If you relocated the battery you can run a Negative to the Transmission.Think about it.That is where the Starter is grounded anyways right?.you can always run another ground to the body for electrical,by attaching a negative/ground) to the inside of the bin on the floor or body.( if that is where you relocated to)

you kno what i never thought about that... i always thought that since the body is metal... if i connect the neg to one side of the car if should work on the other...

i havent had electrical class yet.

Like the above said and you now realize......on the stock car the batt neg cable goes to two places. It bolts to the chassis just below the left strut tower and bolts to a bolt that mates the transmisison to the engine (or on the cars I own, to the long bolt that holds the starter on the engine).
