I've been having on-and-off again shifting woes, and LOTS of broken shiffer bushings.

Turns out, that the black spring-steel retainer/clips are broken.

That is, it's missing the square tab that keep the shifter from moving out of it's pivot.

I'm going to check with Steve at Gotham to see if they have replacement parts, or even B&M.

If you have a short-shiver based upon the B&M design, and you're eating bushings, check this out quickly before you munch 5th gear.

Ugh!!

BTW: attached are pics with the tab circled in red, and note how the other clip is missing BOTH square tabs, and the other one is missing one.
