I say that it's okay to be a ricer. Hell, I get jealous when I see a nice body kit on a car. Just because you can't afford it, don't **** on others because they can, that's what I say. It's their car, and they think it looks good, so good for them! If they don't have anything under the hood, and they're all show and no go, then you'll smoke them, end of story.
Personally, I'd rather have a stable, rock-solid reliable stock n/a with a few exterior mods to make it look more unique than a heavily modded, broken-down all the time sleeper. I mean, it's not like I race for a living, it's just my daily driver. I don't need 250HP to compensate for what I don't have, but it would be nice to have an interesting paint job, or a cool body kit to let people know that this is MY car.
Anyway, that's my unqualified opinion.

...and yet, riced-out Civics make me angry, mainly because their owners are almost invariably ***-holes. Same as Neon drivers. I wonder if there is an explaination for this phenomenon? Anyone else notice it?

Anyway, RX-7 drivers are the nicest people on the planet.

sorry bout keeping this blasted thread open/alive/kicking
but i just thought ofsomething that would be cool..maybe i dunno about all the technical aspects, id have to find out

but what if you put the cone filter on the n/a right up at the t/b and built a cold air box to fit around it and used the tII hood??

that would prolly boost performance, so its not really rice
unless.......damn, i dont know
im with all a ya, i hate riced civics, come to think of it, its been like for ever since ive seen a non-rice-injected civic

i think im thinking too much
must.......turn....off....brain

I thought this thread was funny. people are people. someone might have just bought the car and it had a bunch of crap already put on. people shouldn't judge others before talking to them. some like the looks of european touring cars and that's what they go for. they will never make the high reves like them or get the sequential shifter, but they still look good. I prefer the sleeper look. but my friend has a 2000 accord with every mod he can think of except turbos. he's got the body kit and the performance. his next step is to bolt a 3.5 mdx block onto his accord v6 head with rods and pistons. hell he put in the type-s camshafts from the CL and he beat's mustangs and rx-7's N/A's all day long (without hitting his nos). (pretty good for a grocery getting, body kitted, rice mobile.
My point is people love cars for different reasons and who cares if someone did something different, are we supposed to do the same thing all the time. would I be cool then? how did someone find out putting a TII hood wouldn't cool the engine better... if people didn't experiment we wouldn't have the RX-7 at all!!!

What the hell is your problem?

Turbo hoods look bad ***! I have an 88 convertible and I am going to put a Turbo hood on my car when I get it painted. I am doing it because I think that it looks cool. It won't help performance any and with an aluminum plate where the air comes in it won't hurt underhood temps. It also gives me a place to run my purge valve lines for my nitrous.

I am not trying to fool anybody into thinking that I have a T2 hood. It isn't rice! Rice is taking an economy car (Civic, corolla, escort, etc) and trying to make it look fast with all kinds of bullshit.

If you guys ever head down or up (depending on your location) to NYC you should go to the manhatten district labeled "NOLITA" which means Northern lil italy it is west of the lower east side. There you will fine on The Corner of Mott St. And Spring St. a lovely reastaurant, that Restaurant's name is "R I C E" just rice nothing more or less, and gues what they serve??? You guys jkjk they serve 8 different kinds of rice with indian/thai type dishes its really quite good and all this talk of rice made me miss it terribly. I recomend the Chicken Statchitory hahahha jk

I have a buddy that has a Camaro V6 under the hood. That's pretty wacky. Anyways, if you have a hood scoop, it should have functionality... although the Impresa RS hood scoops have no functionality, and that's stock.

The only reason I wouldnt put a turbo II hood on my car is because its not as fast as a turbo II (yet...) and I wouldnt want some kid in a honda civic beating me (reason unknown) and going home and telling all his friends that he beat a turbo II. I mean if they knew that only turbo Rx7's came with a hood scoop.

Yo,

Sorry fellas, but I still say it's Rice. You're pretending to be something you're not.

Have you noticed how everyone is calling a TII hood, well...a TII hood? They're not calling it a turbo hood, or a vented hood, it's a TII hood. It came on one model of FC, suprisingly called the Turbo II, or TII for short.

So you have a distinctive styling element in the offset hoodscoop, on the highest performance model of the FC. When you stick that styling element on a lower performance model, you get Rice. Yep, trying to pretend to be something you're not, especially when it comes to making your car look like another, more expensive, faster car.

Like the Supra big wing and big tip? Stick it on your Accord.

Like the Z3 fender gills? Stick it on your Civic.

Like the Altezza tailights? Stick it on your Prelude.

Like the TII hood? Stick it on your NA.

Kevin started a monster of a thread with this one.

I don't think the tII hood on an NA is rice but I don't prefer it. I chose a vert aluminum hood for my NA.

You have a very good argument going, however it failed
as soon as you put let's put it to a vote, well there you go. T2 hoods are not Rice the votes were tallied.

Yo,

Actually, one of those ricey NA TII hood sportin' wannabee's cooked the poll the first night. Reset their cookies and kept voting. It gained like 60 votes overnight...

So...the poll is meaningless. We all know it's rice...even the people with the TII hoods. They're a little ashamed deep down inside. *grin*

alright, I'll admit it, I put my BLACK TII hood on my WHITE se model just to know what it would feel like to drive like a ricer. I had it on there for like a month and you wouldn't believe how many little ricer people came up to me and asked stupid ?'s like"is that carbon fiber", and my favorite, "did you have to import that from japan because i've never seen that hood on a rx-7 before". One time this kid, who drove a turbo del sol, and his friend came up to me when I was in my car and asked if I wanted to race, before I could anwser his friend grabed him and said, and I qote "dude, you don't want to race him, this thing is twin turbo, he'll kick you ***" he looked at me and said "is it" I never said yes or no, but instead just chuckelled and smiled at him trying not to break out in laughter from his friends remark. the point of this story is that were I live ricers don't know **** about rx-7's, there for I was able to get away with trying to come off as somthing I wasn't. all in all it was kinda fun.

Looks better than the NA...lighter, functions somewhat in the fact in brings in some cool air, even vents off some hot air from the engine. I've got a TII hood for my FC, not on it yet, getting painted. And I'll tell you what: I will line my NA against any TII that wants to race, and or calls my hood rice.. don't let the hood fool ya...but the "brap... brap... brap" might scare ya...

Exclamation

well...
you can't call it rice just because you have turbo2 hood...on NA
if people like what they have, and they have right to choose what they want......i guess...thats what i think...
i bought my NA FC with turbo2 hood...and first i didn't even know it was turbo2 until one of the people from club4ag told me it was for turbo2 hood -..-

well...like my situation...so..i have to buy new "NA" hood just because i have turbo2 hood on my "NA"???

who cares if they have rice car or wutever...
someone already asked me this question about my hood...and i told them... "SO WHAT! its not like i'm sponsored by you...well then... why don't you buy me a NA HOOD ??? " and that person cound't say ****...

don't get mad thats just what i think...

So that means S5 bumpers/tails etc on a S4 TII is rice because S5's make more power then a S4?

i feel the only reason u get a TII hood is if ur going to swap a engine or if u like the way it looks its still lighter than the steel hood. but if u clainm it to be a TII tyhen SMART people will fugure out its not when u drive or if u pop the hood its just that simple
