TII Hood on NA FC: Rice or Not?
Rarest (while you are still posting in here)
How do you feel about a TII with a FMIC? Shouldn't they drop the hood and swap to an aluminum N/A hood? I mean.. it provides no functionality.. which means.. RICE!.. right?

Yo,
Is an NA hood on a turbo car with a FMIC Rice?
Nope.
You are not taking a styling element from a faster car and putting it on a slower car. (Rice)
You're putting a styline element from a slower car onto a faster car. (Q-ship/Sleeper)
My main beef is that you're taking a specific styling element that sets apart the more expensive, faster model and putting it on the less expensive, slower model.
That, in a nutshell, is Rice to me. You're advertising turbo power with the hood, but delivering NA (i.e. less) power. All show, no go. Riiiice.

um, ok you all have down syndrom, here's a thought: Who gives a flying ****, if you want to paint your car bright purple and put rainbows on it, go ahead, it's your car, your allowed to do whatever you want to it. And for all you retards that think adding a hood makes your car "ricy" need to take a look around at most of the civics with their mufflers the size of small children, and their carbon hoods, etc.
that's my 2cents.
that's my 2cents.

You claim putting a TII hood on to try and be something your not...
Well I have MKIV Wheels on my car, but I'm certianly not trying to be an MKIV.. because that would require me to be an *******.

this thread queefs. If someone doesnt want their TII hood and wants to trade or sell it, give me a buzz at Jatballboy15@yahoo.com That is all I have to say.
Going off of Black13B, What about a 7 with a FMIC, and a turbo hood? They're correctly "advertising turbo power", but yet it provides no functionality. Anyways, I don't really have a solid opinion on it, but if you're doing it becuase you think you'll go faster, or even worse, you think other people will believe you go faster, then it's rice. But if you're doing it because it looks better, then there's no harm in doing it. It's like switching from S4 lights to S5 lights. No funtionality; not trying to trick people into thinking you have a stiffer chassis or more HP; just for looks.
I totally agree with Atticus's post. Except for the part about the S4 to S5 taillights the only thing people are going to think is wow they looks great, not more hp or stiffer chasis, only thing I can think of is having a fatter car. Lates matt22

and they have a turbo to back it up.
they're not saying "look, I have a fast car", when its not fast.plus, since it comes with that hood stock, there's no reason to spend money to change it.
why does this thread keep comeing back? when did it start? like a year ago?
I would say it's not rice, and I've thought about this for a while.
Why isn't it? Because it's actually MUCH lighter than the stock hood. So there is a performance gain to be had by it. Yep, there's my reasoning... So if I ever get one, you can all call me whatever you wish, but it's made my car lighter, and that's all I care about

I do not think a T2 hood on an N/A is rice, it just looks more aggressive and accents the body lines. I am a little biased on this subject though, as i have a T2 hood on my N/A, but i guess it isnt really an N/A anymore. No offense, but the people who say "the big wing on the FWD car is the dumbest thing evar" are, in fact, complete dumbasses who obviously dont understand exactly how downforce works, and the reasons you would want balance the downforce to change handling charateristics. Now, the giant wings on the cibics with flatulance cannons are, obviously, rice.

I think the t2 hood looks good regardless your rx model ....and if you think its rice ..so be it...... its your opinion and if you like the t2 hood it should not make a difference what others say ...besides we all have rx7 we should coo to each other
Hey, my Impreza had a hood scoop, and it was blocked off...but that was stock, so it wasn't rice
So the same could be said for the TII hood.
but I didn't realize there was an aluminum non-TII hood. Knowing that, the TII is unnecessary

Anything that has to be altered or partly destroyed, or was not made for your specific car... is RICE. Unless you fiberglass your own stuff, weld your own crap, nothing in your car is CUSTOM. Real custom work involves you fabricating your own stuff, not installing pre-fab crap to suit your own interest in the car, then saying yeah I have a CUSTOM rx.
