I agree, anything other then a job done with Actual paint equiptment will not yield professional results, my point is only that there are other methods of painting your car on the cheap that require much less work with the same if not better results. I have only been painting cars for 3 years now, and I have tried many different ways (this isn't one of them) and through my experience if you want to paint on the cheap with no access to painting equiptment Dupilcolor rattlecan is the easiest with the best "cheap" results.... THIS MEthOD DESCRIBED IN THIS THREAD IS VERY TIME CONSUMING... He has spent 3 days on a hood and it is still not done....

thats the whole point, to make it better than it was and not spend a ton.
its a great learning too
im far better at wet sanding and painting than i was 2 days ago.

it is also a fun time filler for summer break

well everything needs to dry after the wet sand still
so heres some pics
hood and light covers got their 4th coat wet sand
scoop and fenders got their 2nd coat wet sand
as you can expect the paint looks dull but its mutch smoother than it was before
the diffrence between 2 and 4 coats is amazing

i cut the paint too thin on the drivers side fender and had to sand deep because of bubbles
(this stuff is a pain to sand into)

Stripping paint from metal, I don't recommend any plastic peices (haven't tried it I just don't think it would be pretty). You can get this stuff at auto zone called "Auto Strip" it is about 6 or 7 bucks a can and a little goes a long way. You spray it on wait about 10 minutes and then either pressure wash it or with some sort of high pressure water, spray it off.

His car was white before he sprayed it flat black, so the engine bay is just the original paint.

Looking good! I cant wait to get started on mine!

I just finished painting my fenders with good quality paint. It was about $200 in paint just for a pair of fenders but it was really easy and it looks great. No compressor or tools or anything. The spray cans come with super-fine nozzles. I'll post a thread as soon as I buff the clearcoat and take some pics.

My car is also white. So unless my camera's lousy or the lighting is bad, you'll be able to compare. The paint came from www.paintscratch.com.

Looks niiice. Man, I wish I could see it in person. Or side by side with stock white in good condition. How many days have you put in so far (and how many hours per day)?

You're tempting me but I'm still stuck on the need for "proper" automotive paint.

i started monday, if i really wanted to i could have done the whole car by friday
but it takes a while to learn the mix.
as for time its a good bit
2-4 hours in the morning wet sanding the paint and laying 1 layer of new paint down
1 hour at night laying down a second coat so you can wet sand again in the morning

i wont be done tell next week some time because friday night is our local import meet (200+ cars)
and saturday night im geting a new tune to up the boost and max out these 1000cc injectors.
