Think your problem is your using paint thinner to thin it out and not 100% mineral sprits. I remember reading about someone having problems using paint thinner and not mineral spirits in the original thread on this.

EDIT: just read that you were using spirits on the page before this. another suggestion is maybe your putting it on too thick, the coats need to be very thin as far as i know. should not be running

Congrats snow, looks awesome. I would almost say I've never seen rollers do that good of a job, but it wasn't just the rollers at work.

i now have a feeling that the white plastic roller pan is the source of the white pigment in the paint. thats whats causing the problem.... i think.. lol

ill figure it out. im not worried about it.

Looks great snowball. Nice work. When I get a beater I'm thinking about doing this, in black, and fixing all the bodywork. Also, you're using s5 front and rear bumpers? The mouldings along the doors, fenders, and 1/4 panel are different, is why I ask...

I've got an S5 bumper I'm looking to put on my car when I go to paint it.

ok i've practiced enough on my shell so today i started on my driver. only did the sunroof so far. it has 2 coats on it with no sanding done yet. i put it back on to show the difference... i'm already stoked on how this is going to look!!!

i love how fuggin white this stuff is! you can see the reflection of the trees and all WOOWOOOOO!

edit: one thing to note is that getting the mixture right will make or break the way it settles. the first couple tries i did on the shell it would look flat as soon as it dried. then i used a tiny bit less mineral spirits and started on a new spot and it would go on glossy and stay just like that when it dried. there's one other thing i'm doing but i will release that secret when i'm done because it shouldn't really affect the end results.

Has anyone tried using the clear with this yet? Might give off a little more shine.

yea well mine is not so great.. lol.

im doing flat black and its still not right. Im gonna spray the car with the rattle cans of this stuff today.

the paint is showing roller marks. no matter what....

i have tried thicker and thinner paint... thicker and thinner application... i just dont know what to do.

the paint dries in about 30 min and when it does you can see the roller marks.

so sad.

is it bubbling in the pan or when you lay down the paint?
in the pan then your mixing too hard.
when you put the paint down, your pressing too hard, you should only be using the weight of the roller. If need be go back over the paint a min later with just the weight of the roller and pop all the bubbles.

just sanded my sunroof with 800 and now i can't fuggin see... it blinded me in the sunlight aahahhaa. bout to put the 3rd and 4th coats on, i'll get some pics in a bit. THIS IS AWESOME!!!! aahahhaa

edit: oh yea, to the guy that said something about trying the clearcoat.... i didn't know there was a clear. does rustoleum make a clear like this? here's what i was gonna do and someone tell me if it's a bad idea, but i'm gonna pick up a gallon of Boat Polyurethane Varnish and layer it on for about 2 or 3 coats. not the laquer stuff, it should work with this oil based paint. if not someone let me know before i annihilate my new paint job

It will look yellow. Do not do it. Especially due to the fact that you are going to have to sand it...

Paint thinner will change the color, you may need to mix it before you put it in the pan VERY WELL.

well now i'm on the 4th coat, no sanding done yet but it's pretty much completely dry. thanks for the input rrtec, after the 6th coat i'm pretty damn confident i wont need any clear to get the shine like i thought i was. 2 more coats and i can't even imagine how bad *** this is going to look. my camera sux and it doesn't do justice. i'll try and get a better shot when the sun goes down a bit.

That's a 1st gen sunroof... You really should have removed the trim around the edge before you painted it.... It may not be too late .....
