No not at the moment. My bus needs the money right now. Then comes the GTO after that. I also have to squeeze the house in there somewhere. Then I may mod out the XB. Not sure yet.

well today i got to primer the hood and the scoop for the hood.
these were a little banged up and needed some filling. what hood doesnt have little dings in them right!?

tommorow after work they will be sanded down with 600 grit WET to ENUSRE i dont have scratches in them.

also, today i ordered some POR-15 products. here is the link to what i got. im going to use this for my polished manifolds and other parts i spent so much time on. i dont want to have to re-polish these every few months!!

i also ordered AN lines and fittings from summit (that wasnt cheap!!). i figure when its done painted and drying i can start on the long block asseb.

Its outside. One of those cheap costco car-ports that I've modified for my use. Works great as long as you make sure to use positive fan pressure instead of negative.

No.. POR15 was too expensive for what I needed on the interior. I just used bottom of the line econo-paint. (PPG Omni line). The paint barely matches the other stuff, but it'll seal out old smells, re-coat any bare metal.. and make me feel better about not having white under my carpet.

I did use POR-15 in the engine bay though. Great stuff.

I still have the doors to do.. inside and out. those are going to suck! The headlight covers on the other hand... those take like.. an hour total from sanding to primer to paint.

did you have a lot of small bumps and dings in your hood? I didn't THINK I did until I laid out primer. Now it looks like I'll be laying my next layer of primer on THICK. They are just small enough to prevent me from using glazing putty or bondo.. but deep enough to where I'm going to need a THICK coat of primer on them. Luckily, I got the surfacer/primer from House of Kolor.

i did have a few dings that were taken care of by glazing putty. however both doors were a different story!! its unreal how many small dents were on these!!
today i managed to get most of the dents taken care off and the hood is fully sanded with 600 WET and going to be put on the car tommorow.

Just wanted to drop in and say nice job! You're taking this car where I wanted to go with it but unfortunately didn't (and still don't) have access to the resources you do. I only wish you could've seen what it was the day I went to "test drive" it (how do you test drive a car with a blown clutch?!) to better justify the shape it was in when I passed it along to you. It was a pretty sad sight. Not that it was at all peachy when you picked it up, but, you get my point.

Good job, can't wait to see it finished. Hopefully get to see it in person again someday. Thanks for not scrapping the project and props for keeping another TII on the road.

Glad your Mom is doing alright.

Talking Looks real good man!

I myself will be undertaking the daunting task of completely rebuilding my 87 Rx7 soon enough. Takes guts and patience and a lot of scratching your head. But once you get it done you sure feel and LOOK like a million bucks! Hope it drives like a monster when you get it all put together! However, I do agree with the guy who said cutting into that brace was risky business. Perhaps if you make a 1/8" brace that bolts into place OVER the IC piping, I believe you will regain structural rigidity and composure on the mount. Just my $0.02! But like I said, looks good!

Keep it up! looking forward to more pics!

ive always wanted to see it after the hit on the drivers side with the door that was hit (happen to have a pic?). i almost went and swapped everything to my other car but dealing with a salvaged title is a PITA if she ever had to go.. to be honest, i whish i would have gotten to drive the car...sorta a "test" drive but being in its conditioin i knew it just wasnt going to happen.
luckily the job i landed has blessed me to have the resources to do what i am doing in such a short amount of time. i didnt start buying parts untill after i purchased it form you so its been a long journey so far. i would glady let you take a ride in it anytime you want...but for now you cant even sit in it!!

I can assure you that after a brace was "wrapped" around the IC and 2 "L" shaped brackets were connected to the rad. support that its just as strong if not stronger than stock form. i now can lean on it and put quite a bit of pressure before it begins to move. in stock form i would simply place one hand and apply little force for it to move. after all, what does the rad. support going horizontal really support? to me its just a platform for rad. ducting. the actual REAL rad. support are the vertical pieces that actually HOLD the rad. in place. those were in NO way affected.

again thanks for the kind words and keep a look out for updates in the following days. since its raining today all i can really do is wash the car down well to make sure ALL the primer is very clean for paint. i prob. should sand on the lower portion of the car before i paint it again since its been over a week. i may be able to prime 1 door and after the wash put the hood back on tonite if i have enough time.

Well, if it makes you feel any better I never drove the car before I bought it either. The PO seemed to think that I and a friend who went to look at it with me were incapable of driving a car with a bad clutch master. The most I ever drove that car was up the hill to your trailer .

I look forward to that!

These are the only two shots I've got of the original door. Bad angle, doesn't do the damage justice. It was more of a side swipe than a hit. PO said it was in a parking lot at his work and somebody swiped it when they left. All of my pics of the car were taken on the good side, for obvious reasons.

i guess that door did get a good wack!

since i didnt really have time to do any body work today so i did a simple task ( i thought it would be). first i had to cut slits using a dremel into the old screws holding the sending unit in. i then pulled the old stock fuel pump and replaced it with a walboro. i also went to a nearby store and got some allen head bolts so that i can eliminate the hassel of rusty old screw that are just JUNK after years of decay!

i tried and tried to take pics of these bolts but my cam just didnt want to take a decent pic!!

heres the sending unit all cleaned up and ready for install....

now when i install the haltech....how close should i cut this wire to the sending unit when i rewire it?? and i just ground the wire on the chassis now right? i know i keep the other wires intact.
i forgot to take a pic of it installed so i will tommorow

Whoa nice progress.

Hate to rain on your parade a little but the scratches you saw in the base will go away after clearing... Its just the way black base is....you'll probably still see finer ones after using 600, but don't worry, they'll go away once you put the clear on.

And as far as the haltech fuel pump wiring goes, cut it whereever you like, I spliced mine in above the plate so I wouldn't have a connection that was exposed to weather. And the groudn just gets grounded to the chassis like you said.

Looking good so far!

heres the sending unit using the new hardware/allen bolts in place of those rusted bolts that had to be dremeled to get out!
lets see these puppies give me a hard time!!

next is the headlitgh covers...these were sanded and ready to be primed a while back put i just kept putting them off. i figured id paint them now instead if wasting primer....

and heres the door.

so here is the passenger door that you can see all the body work needed to get these doors straight. these came off my 88 N/A because they are free from rust and are in OK shape except for the dings.

these spots were done tonite and will sit untill tommorow when i get a chance to sand them.

here is the begining of the TB MOD. the secondary butterflies were remoced. and believe it or not....only 1 screw was stripped taking them out!!

you can also see that i removed all the parts that go with the butterflies. the thermowax and dashpot will stay so i dont have to deal with stalling on decel or a hard launch and cold mornings!

more pics of the TB as progress goes along. i only started this because it was either all i could do or i wanted somthing diff to do.
