after finding a local engine builder i was able to drive my motor and meet him half way and get that taken care of. after i got that out of the way (for now) i was able to get the rest of the interior out and begin cleaning and prepping for paint. before this i found 3 holes in my passenger side floor. luckily they were pretty small and i was able to cut out the rust and weld in new patches.

after all this was done i took an undercoat and coated the interior for sound deading and plus its black!!

im not sure if i will do another coat. sunday im going to remove the doors and begin sanding and prepping the door seals and hatch seal for paint which was picked up today.

i also got my KOYO in and a ACT clutch and Xtreme PP

Remove that crappy stock sound deadening material... replace it with dynamat. Not as hard as you'd think.

Is the pass headlight gonna hit that pipe when it pops up? Looks like it might. Good looking bay. Don't like the IC idea because all your doing is decreasing the length of the piping not all the other cons of a FMIC. Either way, good luck.

i was a bit worried that the hood latch wouldnt shut correctly and i would have to use hood pins but after i placed the hood on and adjusted the latch, it closes perfectly as is and the headlights move free with no problems of the IC

Looking good so far! You ned to keep a roll of flux-core welding wire handy for those times you run out of gas.

Amen. Everybody should have flux-core as a fall-back. Or just a bigger tank for the gas.

just wondering. what did you spray your engine bay with? did you use literally a spray can?? and what was your process... like sanded, primer, (did you do watersanding?) then paint? did you throw a clear coat on also? just wondering

and lastly did you weld seams? casue i hear it's a good idea too

tell me about it. there is nothing more frustraiting than running out of gas in the middle of a project.

yep, spray can...i doubt ill clear it as i feel its fine as is. if you would know me, you would also advise me to do this because im know for banging things around under the bay and this way i can just grab my can and fix the marks. i did sand it with 400 grit dry for adhesion and primered it.

no seem welding. wouldnt that require taking the pain off all the seems, removing the liquid seem crap and welding the entire seem??

oh true about the glue. but that's a good plan. i think imma just use a spray can to spray my engine bay so if i hit something i can just spray over. but is it some kind of special spray that resists heat well? or any paint really would work? i'm new to ALL of this haha and just tryina learn. is that your cherry picker also? how much did that cost you?! haha.

after getting the nails off and grinding down my horrible tac welds i primered the QP to keep the rust out so when i get time to work on it again it wont be one giant rust spot.
this is the last pic i got before i dropped the damn cam

I think out of all the places to get body damage, the quarter panel is by far the worst.

Don't forget to fab up some nice duct work for your oil cooler, IC, and radiator while you've got some down time!

Ya. The old redneck nail dent puller trick worked really well for us. It came out really nice. Saved 88rx n/a alot of work at replacing the quarter. That's a good thing.

Sweet. Just weld them in the creases and pull on them. You might want to try turning down your wire speed just a little if ya can. It might help. I'm going to try and start welding that dogleg on the bus tomarrow morn. Wish me luck. I'm probably gonna need it.

I've still got 5 FC's.

looks good so far man. I'm jealous I wish I had the time and money right now to update my build thread. The car seems to be coming along quite nicely. What plans do you have for the car? Track racing, show, street, etc?
