Yes, it will be between 3/4" to 1" tall. It won't stick up as much as the Panspeed. But that is just a preference on looks and will not affect the functionality of the vent.

what about rain? i mean, i know rain and stuff will probably just blow out when the car is moving, but how much under the hood will get drenched if the car was just parked on the street?

With that hood it looks like it'll divert all the water to the stock shroud (if it fits) or onto efan/shroud setup so assuming your wiring isnt all over the place it shouldnt be a big deal at all.

Hey so for those who live in Cali could we do local pick up and not have to pay for the extra shipping charge? I rather pay $30 in gas then $100 + in shipping.

Hey man
Local is in Toronto Canada eh
5one5innovations is a Toronto Canada Based Tuning shop that does custom one off stuff as well as some production stuff
so long and short gas would be worse then shipping

We are a very small shop. Everything is hand made or hand layed. I dont really shop anything out because few people can manufacture to my standard.
Because the shop here is prety much just me it takes a little longer to make parts. Zach is on board to cover customer service on the board and in the US (more like a 5one5 rep I guess)so I can stay making new parts and custom stuff.
Please feel free to email 5one5innovations@gmail.com or pm Zach (boostedrex) (if you want the answere sooner) with any questions.

Thank you,

Mael

Looks great.

I have only 1 question. I was reading earlier on in the thread that you said that you will NOT have a hood latch.

Is there any way you can make that an option? It wouldn't be much of a heartache to add some kind of liability waiver about it breaking off. I personally hate the way hood pins look (ricey) and would do almost anything to avoid having to use them.

Alex, I will keep stock of most of the 5one5 parts. But the hoods are just too big for me to keep in stock. Otherwise there would be a different price since shipping would be knocked down some. But as of right now all hood sales will be shipped from the 5one5 shop in Toronto.

I am really glad to see that you guys are liking the hood. I can't wait until that prototype is actually finished and we get some high quality pictures from a digital camera instead of a camera phone. I know that this hood is Mael's #1 priority right now so it will be finished sooner than later. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me in here or PM me.

I'd drive to Toronto to pick one up, 4 hrs away. I could drive the 7 and swap hoods at the shop. Would you consider a trade for my stock TII hood and some loot?

Jimmy, I'll get with Mael and get an answer for you. I know you could drive the 7 up there and get a hood, but I don't know if he would work out a trade plus cash for a stock TII hood.

Thanks for the info Zach. Yea I can see as to why it's hard to stock the hoods. No biggy $600+ aint too bad for a hood and shipping. By the time you guys start production I'll have my new shell built and the money saved up.

Actually the lip has a major impact on functionality as it is what creates a pressure difference which helps to pull the air out of the vent.

The panspeed hood looks to have a bigger opening from front to back than your prototype hood. My guess would be that your hood may need a lip that is larger or comparable to panspeed's to help pull air thru the slightly smaller opening to be as effective as the panspeed hood. Sadly, we would need a wind tunnel to actually test this and find out, and I doubt thats gonna happen.

Juiceh, I know exactly what you are talking about. But I've been working on and around aircraft for 8 years now and you would be surprised how little of a difference the height of the lip would make between the size of ours and the size of the Panspeed hood. It will actually come down to the shape of the lip. And ours will have a nice concave curve to it. If it were a straight angle up it wouldn't work as well. Does that make sense? I am not the best at explaining things I know unfortunately. But it comes down to manipulating airflow, and that is done by a mixture of lip height and shape. Hopefully that will clear this up a little bit and not further confuse anyone. If you have more questions or comments please post them up.

Aaahh I forgot to mention the shape of the lip. Well its good to hear that yours will have a nice concave curve. I believe the panspeed one has a concave curve at the front of the lip as well, but I have never seen a side profile pic of it to be sure. As for a straight angle lip, thats why I wouldn't touch a Dmax hood, not to mention it sticks out a little more than I like.

You work around aircrafts and such huh? Any chance you have access to a wind tunnel? I'd love to see some tests between some of these vented hoods so we can really see which one performs best.

Oh, any reason why the vent over the turbo is angled the way you have it?

It is angled for cosmetics sake. Yeah, I am currently working on an unmanned spy plane. It's pretty fun work. I came off heavy airlift before that. But airflow over a surface is the same if it's a 55ft. wing or a 95ft. wing. I'll have to check on the wind tunnel.

How about fitment issues with a large radaitor, say the AWR unit. I know RX-Heaven had to cut his or something to fit the shape of the cap and such?

I can't say 100% that it won't, but I would be amazed it you had any fitment issues. We have been planning for this hood to be able to clear V-mounts, 20B's, and LS1's since day one. Can you get measurements on exactly what kind of clearances you'd need? Well, I know you can't since you're stuck elsewhere right now but if anyone else can just PM them to me.

I have the exact dimensions written down at home. I'm at work now, but will post them up later today for you.
