I could do hood pins. You guys will have it all prepped for hood pins already so all I have to do is install them on my car?

Not sure what you mean by prepped but you need to drill your own holes for your specific hood pins. Different brands need different holes cut/drilled.

I'm sorry I should of speicified thinking maybe they can provide the pins and stuff. So, all the buyer needs to do is put them on his car. I should re-read my post I guess lol Or I can be cheap and get the cheapo pins from my work at Kragen!!!!

I would like to see a hood like any of these. Preferably the second one, Dmax. You deleted the vent above the throttle body like the dmax one has? I would still like to see it have a vent on the backside near the windshield like that one. I kinda like the vents along the sides of the third one but I would like them on one of the other 2. The placement of the scoop on the third one sucks. I really would like to see one of the first 2 made in FG. I would sure as hell have one if it were good quality. The reason I would like to see one of the first 2 is because the large vent is in the perfect place for a v mount, which I'll be doing by the end of the summer. Just my input

Dark Knight, the hood will have a very large open vent in the front. From the looks of it the main vent should be nearly the same size as the DMax hood, but without the louvers. And there will be an additional vent over the turbo to help release some of the heat created by the turbo. But that rear vent will not span all the way across the hood like it does on the DMax. If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to drop me a PM.

I'll have my V-mount setup finished early to mid summer of this year as well and the hood was designed for people who are running V-mounts. It just so happens that a reverse vented hood that works great for V-mounts will also benefit FMIC and N/A guys.

Cool. I was worried about the side of the vent, It certainly looks wide enough but is it thick enough from front to back? That Dmax vent is huge. I personally don't like the vent over the turbo because I'm all about things being symetrical. If you put them on both sides however... One of the main things I'm concerned with is a vent for engine heat period. If you had one like on the rear edge of the Dmax hood(not the one along the top of hood over the TB, the one where the wipers are) it would kill 2 birds with one stone because that would also allow air out. I actually spaced the hood up a couple of weeks ago and the amount of heat that comes out of the rear of the hood is substantial, and the reason it comes out is because my efan is pushing it out that way. And thats just sitting there. It probably moves much more air when the car is moving instead of the fan just pulling what it can thru. I'm just saying thats where all the air wanted to go because the strong push from the efan. The turbo vent directly over the turbo might not let out as much air as most of us think it would. Granted, heat rises and sitting there it might let some of it out but my efan is certainly pushing it towards the rear of the hood. And I definitely don't want cold rainwater running down on top of my glowing red turbine housing.

With the exception of being on an outdoor dyno, there is virtually no way that rain would fall into the main or the turbo vent onto a red hot turbine housing. I do know what you mean about being symmetrical. Mael was originally on that kick too. My best advice would be to see what you think about the prototype pics that I'll have by the end of the week. I'm sure that you'll like what you see. And, as many other people will tell you, 5one5's product quality is some of the best you'll find on the market.

I'm fairly sure the the vent at the end of the hood near the windshield only let's at air at low speeds/stopped. Most people have seen the aerodynamics/pressure chart of the FC and near the base of the windshield is a high pressure zone. Plus it's not like your fan should be spinning at freeway speeds. The low pressure zone on the hood would be near the front bumper allowing air to vent out by itself without force. Someone chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Stan, that sounds about right from what I've been told by one of the mechanics from RE Amemiya that I talked to at a few D1 events. And yes I'm a tool, I was talking about FC's right in front of Suenaga's FD.

The fan is spinning at freeway speeds. Why wouldn't it? Its hardwired, ignition on fan on.

Because that's not the right way to do it.... if anything at freeway speeds your fan spinning is hurting airflow through the rad. should be wired to a thermoswitch

Imagine that last picture you posted but with the main vent moved forward, the TB side vent eliminated, and the turbo vent being turned 35 degrees on axis. Hopefully that will give you a better idea until I have some pictures to show on here.

If that were the case then a Vmount intercooler wouldn't even work because the air going in thru the front bumper isn't coming out anywhere correct? And I wouldn't have to worry about the air venting itself out without force because my efan is the force. Its a taurus efan that blows pretty damn hard. I'm pretty sure the hood is thicker back there too which would smooth out the transition that the air makes from hood to windshield therefor lowering the pressure just a bit. Even so the bump at the beginning of the large vent disturbs the air and the normal aerodynamics wouldn't be as accurate I think.

My car never runs hot on the highway, but then again I've never checked temps with the fan on and the fan off before. Maybe I'll do that just as soon as I get a water temp gauge.

I would prolly be interested in this hood. I am one to be finicky about my engine temps and engine bay heat is astronomical in these cars. I lift up the hood, and its like summer just hit you in the face like mike tyson. I will be elevating the rear of my hood soon.

I know these are shitty pictures, but they were taken with a camera phone. But at least you guys will have an idea. The prototype is nearly complete. The lips around the vents still need to get shaped up some and then the sanding and paint work to get it ready for the mold. But as for vent location and size, you can now see what that will be like. So let's hear the feedback on what you guys think. I hope you like what you see.

And keep this in mind. I know that Shine Auto is planning on making a hood as well. Last I read they were talking $400-$500 for a fiberglass hood. If you take the shipping charge off of our price that would line up pretty even. About $500 for our hood as long as there are no unforseen price changes. I just wanted to give everyone an idea. And I'm not knocking Shine Auto by any means. They are a great shop that makes great products. But I do feel that 5one5 Innovations is every bit as good as any other shop out there as far as quality and customer service are concerned.

So there's going to be a lip in front of the vent like the panspeed right?
